Alarmism: You’re Doing It Wrong

Mayor Bloomberg warned Friday there would be riots in the streets if Washington doesn’t get serious about generating jobs.
“We have a lot of kids graduating college, can’t find jobs,” Bloomberg said on his weekly WOR radio show.
“That’s what happened in Cairo. That’s what happened in Madrid. You don’t want those kinds of riots here.”
And then there’s this:
“When you start picking and choosing which groups do and do not [share the pain], that’s when it becomes unfair in a lot of people’s minds,” the mayor said. “But we’re all in this together.”
Too bad his strategy for job creation is mostly tax cuts and deregulation, and his position on shared sacrifice for the rich is “not yet,” otherwise he might almost be a firebagger. Still, it’s useful any time a Very Serious Pro-Business Centrist comes out in favor of employment before austerity, since only the opinions of Very Serious Pro-Business Centrists and Batshit Right-Wing Nihilists seem to count for anything these days.
