Compassionate Conservatism in All Its Glory

Rep. John Culberson (R-Houston) (via DCCC):

"These results reflect what I’m hearing from my constituents," said U.S. Rep. John Culberson, R-Houston. "I think the percentage of people unhappy with the deadbeats from New Orleans would be larger but for the big hearts of Houstonians who want these folks to get back on their feet, as I do." (emphasis mine)

Heckuva guy.

Must be taking compassion lessons from his pal, Tom DeLay — or maybe from Barbara Bush since she was so compassionate towards "the underprivileged people" in Houston on her last visit.

UPDATE:  As reader Bionic points out:  "And if you are a big hearted Houstonian you do realize he has just co opted your generosity as tacit agreement with his comments.

The left doesn’t get how clever these guys are with their language. And the media never ever calls them on it."

Agreed.  Perhaps any good hearted readers from Houston might want to let Rep. Culberson know how they feel about having their generosity co-opted by his remarks?  He can be reached at:

Houston Office:  Phone: (713) 682-8828 / Fax: (713) 680-8070

10000 Memorial Drive Suite 620 Houston, TX 77024-3490

Washington Office:  Phone: (202) 225-2571 / Fax: (202) 225-4381

1728 Longworth House Office Building, Washington, D.C. 20515-4307

I’m sure he’d love to hear from you.  After all, he does work for you, Houston.

UPDATE #2:  Wampum informs its readers that Koufax voting ends tomorrow.  Just FYI.  (That link will take you to the post that lists the FDL categories.  But please vote for the blogs you think are best.  Thanks!)
