After 7 years in Afghanistan, no end in sight:

The Pentagon is preparing to send at least 3,000 Marines to Afghanistan in April to bolster efforts to hold off another expected Taliban offensive in the spring, military officials said Wednesday…Last year was the most violent since the U.S.-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

Nearly 5 years after "Mission Accomplished", Americans are still dying in Iraq:

Nine American soldiers were killed in the first two days of a new offensive to root out al-Qaida in Iraq fighters holed up in districts north of the capital, the U.S. military reported Wednesday…All indications are that al-Qaida fighters retreated north from Diyala, presumably to Salahuddin, before the offensive began Tuesday, the top U.S. commander in northern Iraq, Maj. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, told reporters in Baghdad.

"Operational security in Iraq is a problem," he said, noting that the Iraqi army uses unsecured cell phones and radios. "I’m sure there is active leaking of communication."

I’m getting to the point where the first Democratic candidate that expresses the appropriate level of outrage at these calamities gets my vote. Sens. Obama, Edwards and Clinton? I’m waiting.
