Huckabee Winning The “Who Is The Craziest Republican Candidate” Sweepstakes

Posted in: 2008 Election

A Newsweek poll shows that Huckabee now leads Romney by at 2-1 margin in Iowa among likely caucus-goers, and AP/Ipsos has him in second place nationwide.  As TBogg rightly notes, America has a Huckaboner:

Yes, people of all stripes ( and by "all stripes" I mean everyone from the Pentacostalists to the Charismatics and all of the snake handlers in between) like Mike…And if there is anyone that I want to entrust our nation’s future to, it is a group of people who can’t wait to get to the Double-wide In The Sky.

The rest of us, however, are a wee bit nervous about handing over the reigns of government to a man who wants to isolate AIDS patients, cut funding for research and thinks homosexuality could "pose a dangerous public health risk."

And I’m no econo wonk (or, as Marcy says, IANAE), but I may be even more excited about his plan to deport five percent of the workforce:

In a major reversal, Mike Huckabee announced a new immigration plan that calls for the 11-12 million undocumented immigrants in the United States to leave the country in 120 days.

It isn’t just the denial Huck is in over Wayne Dumond. As Cliff Schecter says, "the crazy is starting to show."
