Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore, Riding Through The Land…

If one wanted to sum up the congressional career of Top Bush Dog Dennis Moore (Arf-KS), one would be hard pressed to beat the last verses of the song that Monty Python wrote about his fictional namesake back in 1972:
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Riding through the land
Dennis Moore, Dennis Moore
Without a merry band
He steals from the poor
And gives to the rich
Stupid bitch!
He certainly does. If you’ve wondered why there haven’t been any bills to help out the little guy and gal caught in the crumbling facade of the illusory “Bush Boom” — the subprime mortage scams and all that — wonder no more. To quote Matt Stoller:
It’s time to understand that Bush Dogs are part of a working conservative majority. They are not our friends, they are not our allies, they are political opponents who want to bail out wealthy investors and hurt people trapped in subprime mortgage markets. Politically, they are also the people hurting Democratic capacity to differentiate ourselves as populists and capture swing areas and exurban Republicans hurt by the housing meltdown.
Guns are one thing, but there is no strong grassroots movement in conservative districts on behalf of big banks. These people are simply whores for credit card companies and banking interests building profitable de facto debtors prisons.
Why is Congressman Moore leading his fellow Bush Dogs in so assiduously screwing you and me and everyone we know? Big hint: The man gets most of his contributions from the financial industry, and has built up a nice little war chest therefor.
Kansans in the Third District: Any truth to the rumors that y’all are planning to primary Moore’s sorry butt? Looks like he could use it. In the meantime, it sounds like he could stand hearing from you:
