Chita Rivera, Paula Kelly, and Shirley MacLaine — There’s Gotta Be Something Better Than This from Sweet Charity.
What’s on your mind?
hey wmd — how ya doing tonight?
Hey Suz. Some good interviews this week. Will be flying to Seattle for in person interviews next week with one company. Could be doing it again the following week for another. Both jobs are in bay area, but teams have more personnel in Seattle.
Hi Suz and wmd…….. any word, Suz, from CT in the cyclone zone?
Good wishes for the interviews, wmd!
seattle is gorgeous this time of year….
hey dearie — last i heard the winds were starting to blow… i hope he is hunkered down for the duration
how was your day?
thanks. Interesting to do the auto-de-fé stage of the interviews 1000 miles from home. Think last time I flew to a day of interviews was in 1999.
whats your impression of the companies and how you would fit?
I like the second one better. But at this point I need to be working and I’ll sell myself for both.
I’ll have interesting work in either case, and be working with smart people. But the culture of the second one feels better from what I can tell.
My day was good. Had physical therapy this a.m. The PT stretched me to the max. I told him that my ortho seems shy… won’t look me in the eye or really talk. I asked the PT if I was doing too much or too little… afraid that I’m not making enough progress. I said, “Is it because I’m old?” To his credit, he laughed. He said I’m right on track. With surgery, people are being moved aggressively right away. With a break like mine, the arm is held stable for a month or more. Rehab, he said, is harder with breaks because the muscles and ligaments tighten up. “You are right on track.” Oh thank god! Whew.
then i shall be doubling down my positive thoughts (and crossed fingers and toes) that its the second company…
Work hard. Pain meds are your friend as long as you have a PT watching you aren’t over doing it.
Great that you’re healing.
Both interviews in Seattle? How semi-convenient! Go for it!
It means flying up twice. Which is OK with me, just need to get a friend to let chickens out/collect eggs/close coop/feed cat.
tis a very valid point. i know i had a very difficult pt after being immobilized for 18 weeks. i think the only reason i got mobility back afterwards as soon as i did was due to all my previous knee pt sessions, albeit on the other knee. finding out you are on track is so important — your pt person shudda told ya that before today
Aloha, Dearie, Suz and lln pups…! Iselle is just making landfall now…!
Second company isn’t quite as far along in the process – I did HR screen today. They want to do a technical screen next week. I’m booked Monday and Tuesday with research for my writing gig. Getting the logistics worked out is going to be interesting.
Wonderful to have reliable friends as we wend our way through this interesting life.
aloha tut — good to see your fonts dood. how’s it going so far?
Stay dry, stay safe!
seattle is so pretty this time of year — such lovely sunsets and bright blue skies with white puffy clouds…
Think I’m going to get some sleep. Was nice to come home to an email saying “we want to fly you to Seattle”.
i’ll get it was!
g’nite wmd — happy dreams
Best to you, wmd! Sleep soundly.
good night all
Pretty gnarly outside and every now and then the electricity flickers…! There’s downed trees and some power outages scattered around the Isle, but, I’m doing alright myself…!
Everyone OK there, CT?
Fell off of the ladder while gleaning avocados for the Food Bank landed on dead leaves and sand, the picking pole landed on my head. Bump and cut, bandage back to picking. These ladders have a pole instead of two sets of steps. Went with our fire department on a paddle they are practicing water rescue on 11 foot boards. Going out again tomorrow as invited. Got 100 more corn plants in yesterday. We had a drizzle this morning. Nice. LIfe has many good things despite the Israelis nightmare. Best to all.
Best of luck and pleasant dreams, wmd…!
fingers and toes and warm positive thoughts dood. whats the tracking like? is the eye gonna come over hilo?
and what is it with hurricanes and hawaii and the letter ‘i’?
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
Glad you are okay~ Gleaning is good. Falling off a ladder is not. So good to enjoy the positives! We’re in ‘trying times’ for sure, but there are still good things going on. I think your gleaning is definitely one of those good things. Be well.
Everyone’s fine so far, PPD…!
Getting back your range of motion is a good thing. Nice hear Tut and family are good.
Saw something about how altitude affects wind speeds as a system makes landfall
Here is their website with the schedule of harvest. They fed 44,000 last week. http://www.gleanslo.org/harvestlist.php
The mtns are seeing 20-30 mph increases over here at sea level, and, the Kona side is seeing higher wind speeds as it barrels down the mtns…!
Hope the Hurricanes don’t stop your amazing ME Mashups. I have learned so much from you and others. You are a top researcher with some very informative links!
Great! I am not aware of anything like your group in our agricultural county, but I’ll look around. Such a good thing!
Mahalo, bb…! Depending on what happens, I’ll probably post another one tomorrow with the ceasefire now over…!
i’m surprised it lasted as long as it did… i’ve got a very jaded point of view lately
CT! how ’bout that earthquake today, huh?
glad yer alright.
The way they’ree talkin it’ll be good if you keep your electric thru it!
Here’s to happier tides to the islands of pleasant breezes!
hey ks — how ya doing tonight?
Aloha, kpop, never a dull moment…! ;-)
Antiwar.com has a collection of news on Gaza. NYT link to their story on killing kids. No doubt you been there. Somehow we have to convince our leaders to stop Israel/Hamas and other combatants to stop it. Did not know that the cease fire was over now. Bummer Israelis are making unreasonable demands so no peace.
sorry pups — today has not been a good day emotionally and i’m just tapped out. i hope you will forgive me for bailing early tonight
g’nite all — happy dreams
I am rolling bumpy downhill: sleepy, feel way behind on my homework, know it’d be better if I slept now and tasked later….
but I’m awake,,,
that’s ok, sweet dreams
