Welcome to our new fully functional prototype #solar parking lot made of glass!!

That’s right, folks — the Solar Roadways crew have got their first fully functional prototype up and running. The likely site for their next project: A city street and sidewalk in downtown Sandpoint, Idaho. The city is looking for grant money from the Federal Highway Administration to fund the project. Solar Roadways is looking to ramp up and streamline production, and hire more people; they’ll be starting an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign soon to do just that.

Remember, they’re in Idaho, in the Northern Rockies, an hour’s drive from the Canadian border. This ain’t sunny San Diego we’re talking about here.

If they can make solar roadways work there, they can make them work anywhere.
