Def Leppard — Rocket.
What’s on your mind?
happy thursday pups
Ooh…! Pour some sugar on me, Suz…! ;-)
aloha tut — glad ya liked the def tonight. how was your day?
Hi ‘folks’. Beautiful waves on the coast…. no surfers, though…. too much rip tide, I think. But we’re hopeful that the big waves will break the berm at the estuary at McGrath Beach and let the tides flow! The campground has been in standing water for months because there hasn’t been enough heavy sea in the last two years to break the berm. I did see the waves breaking over it this morning as I drove north to Santa Barbara. Hoping for the break through!
hey dearie — i hope its enough too! how ya doing tonight?
We did it! This month is the snowiest (39.1 inches) January since the National Weather Service started keeping records in Detroit.
Looks like 2-5 inches of snow Friday night into Saturday and the possibility of another major* snowstorm next week.
* Has a weather event ever been promoted to colonel?
I’m good. I used to be interested in the weather because I had to decide how to dress the kids for school. Now I’m just interested. But I was NOT paying attention at all today…… went off to work in sandals and a light weight jacket, and then I had to ask to have the heat increased so I wasn’t shaking in my chair! Crazy!
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Had some Sun appear and warm us up today, how’s your hamlet tonite, Suz…? The Satellite pics shows a serious Pineapple Express hitting, y’all…!
hey tt — are ya doing a happy snow dance?
*heh* As long as it’s not promoted to Field Marshal status, TT…! ;-)
i only took a wrap with me for my facial in pdx on monday *shaking head in disgust* it was not enough to combat the wind
My family out in the east is shivering! I’m embarrassed to be complaining that it was 65 instead of 75. We are spoiled with warm winters, but we will pay up come summer. We all have our trials, I guess.
naw, just some off and on light showers. supposed to be dry starting tomorrow late afternoon through thurs of next week (as far out as the local doods forecast)
Actually, General Weather T. Disruption marched on Atlanta earlier this week. This time with ice, not fire.
fire and ice
*heh* Almost puts Sherman’s March to shame, eh…? ;-)
Okay, I have to admit that I’ve loved snow, even after I came of shovelable age.
That said, we’re running out of places to put the white stuff!
To paraphrase Sherman, “If they want eternal winter, well and good; we accept the issue, and will dispossess them and put our friends in their place.”
Indeed, indeed. We will all have our trials. I kinda liked the school that had the sense to harbor-in-place their students….. boys on mats in the gym, girls on the carpets in the academic rooms. I admire school folks who can think straight and realistic and take care of business…. and take care of the kids!
my youngest has turned into a snow lover and calls colorado home now. my other daughter (mother of my grandbaby) is a sun loving californian living in oregon because her husband loves oregon. they are going on a caribbean cruise in a week or so (on norwegian) for some vit d :) amazing how different the two turned out with both of them born and raised in teh sf bay area
And all those kids are probably being raised on Abstinence Is Everything, so no fear of any hanky-panky! :-)
Hiya All! I actually wore shoes home tonight, not boots! Many sidewalks were finally clear of snow, thought some road lanes are still full of snow. We are having a heat wave right now at 32 degrees.
yay ce! how ya doing tonight?
An interesting diary topic would be “Worst Weather-Related Disruption I Ever Experienced.”
Hola, Suz, llners. I can’t believe I am awake, my hours are so different these days. We had a pretty nice day today, though the wind kicked up a bit late this afternoon.
I don’t even want to remember driving from Cincinnati to Chicago on intermittent black ice. I get all shivery and panicky just thinking about it!
You picked a much better version than this one Suzanne. The lead singer’s lost his range.
Anyway, how are you all?
Suzanne — wheee! MsCE and I have plane tickets to Brooklyn NY for the baby shower in March. I’ve only been in Brooklyn once, in Park Slope where MsCE lived.
hey bg — always a pleasure to see your fonts. how ya been?
hey cujo — its been a while dood. how ya been?
i’ve never been to the northeast…. i’m gonna have to travel vicariously through you again dear
Saw that picture of one of the main highways through Atlanta. It looked just like I-5 does up here just about every time it snows (Seattle area). Felt for you guys – ice really sucks.
He certainly rained havoc on his infamous March to the Sea…! 8-(
Been OK. Hands are giving me fits, so it’s hard to type, but other than that no complaints.
Aloha, Cujo…! Always great to see wayward pups wend their way back Lakeside…! ;-)
OK! I flew into LaGuardia once in my life, for my grandmother’s funeral. All my mother’s Irish family, generations of them, are from the Bronx and Long Island. I’ve been there a hundred times, but Brooklyn is unknown to me. I’ll be taking photos!
Sounds like the governor and the mayor blew it.
I grew up in the NYC area, and remember when, in the early 1970s, the city didn’t plow the streets of Queens for days. Mayor Lindsay, who ran for president in 1972, was deviled by retirees from the city who heckled him over snow removal.
Chicago Mayor Michael Bilandic, who followed the first Mayor Daley into office, took a beating over his city’s failure to clear the streets during a snowstorm.
my thumbs give me fits… esp the right one. been typing for way too many years i fear
its all unknown to me so …. *laughing*
isn’t there a quote from back in those days about filling potholes and making sure the streets are plowed…. triggered a few brain cells but not enough to remember who said it
Hey, CT. Saw a Nova not too long ago that reminded me of you. They were using one of the Mona Kea telescopes to make Doppler measurements on some solar system or other. There was a bit of conversation between one of the telescope operators and a scientist who wanted the data…
ohmystars bg — the town of clovis new mexico being overrun with tumbleweeds is on my news… holy moly the city said its gonna take a couple weeks to get rid of them
Suzanne, unlike anything you can imagine. Jack makes beer on the street and in an underground garage. Baby will be born in an apartment with one bedroom with a door that closes! Yea!
Mainly, I’ve been busy.
i saw on an hgtv show an episode about a guy in new york who lives in a dumpster he turned into his home.
sometimes being busy is exactly what one needs to be :)
Well I believe that — my children lived there at first with not much more than a roof over their heads. Hey CNN (man, I hate this station) has a great rock and roll show on now).
Al D’Amato, the NY senator who lost to Chuck Schumer, was called “Senator Pothole” for his attention to local politics: he believed that “all politics is local.”
Yeah, a bumper crop o’those. Mayor better get ready or, curtains. I remember Mayor Lindsey had a garbage strike, all that NYC garbage piling up, he had a tough time. We had a Mayor once (David Rusk son of Dean) who got unelected over weeds he did not control.
dumpster living (not hgtv but i think its the same guy)
ding! that’s the name. thanks tt
They were using one of the Mona Kea telescopes
*heh* Mona…! ;-)
Those Observatories are pretty much shuttered the past few days…! Snow covers Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa during Winter Storm Warning
they showed footage of them stacked up against a garage clear up the the gutter! whoa!!!
Same thing that old Tip O’Neill preached, TT…! ;-)
OMG he cranks up the second story and has a bar!
now ya see why i remembered it!
I had to turn sound down, as we are doing the British Invasion on CNN, but it was great.
Our weather forecast is daytime highs below 60 We have been having 70 degree highs last few weeks. So strange these fluctuations. A few sprinkles in SLO Town nothing here as the drought marches on like General Sherman.
Rock On…! ;-)
Goodnight Suzanne! I’ll be seeing you this weekend. xoxo
i remember those heady musical days… and the outfits… oh lardy the fashions
g’nite ce — happy dreams
Sweet dreams, Christine…!
It’s been pretty dry up here in the NW lately, too. Don’t know what the explanation is. I’m a bit envious seeing all that snow in Hawaii. We could sure use it up in our mountains.
Reminds me of an old Doctor Who episode…
I just spent the last hour trying to come up with a nice thing to say abt def leppard. Then spent fifteen minutes trying to log in and post.
I’m blaming CT. Crafty hawaiian’s re-routing servers thru the mid-pacific trunk. Anarchists!
oh yeah, the nice thing abt DL: they kept their one-armed drummer!
*laughing* hey ks – i hope your day was better than your evening has been….
*heh* Corrupt ‘em young, I say…! Taylor Swift and DL… Photograph…
*heh* We’re a feisty bunch here, Kpop…! ;-)
the day’s been alright. I forgot to eat and am scarffin down some eggs as I type.
CT: all Taylor Swift’s gonna get is a photograph with an attitude like her’s
*heh* Two Steps Behind… ;-)
I have actually seen tumbleweeds go across the street in this town!
lots of times!
laughing… no thanks
do apprec the one vid they did where they paid homage to their rnr heroes. still didn’t like the song…
CT: I’m listening…
That’s all I need too…! ;-)
tis about time for me to take token out to save a blade of grass
g’nite all — happy dreams
maybe that’s why we keep running into each other ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
