Backstreet Boys — Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) … and so am I.
What’s on your mind?
forward dive straight, baby splash
Nice dive! And welcome back. Hope you had a terrific rest. Many thanks to CT for keeping us all amused during your absence. I didn’t always comment, but I did always come along to share time.
So, any good tales to share?
hey dearie — thank you. how’s your coast tonight?
i had a great rest — spent time with my grandbaby (who sang me happy birthday on facetime after she got home from school today) and got to see openhope’s chickens.
tut was fucking AWESOME! dood held down the fort and made it look effortless. i know how much work and effort goes into each lln … he fucking rocked!
hey wmd — how’s the mountain tonight? that song always makes me laugh
yes we’re going to a party party
It’s fine around here. nights are getting a little chilly.
*heh* My Bulgarian uncle was not impressed…! ;-)
Aloha, Suz, I’m certainly glad to see you back…!
I know that you do nothing just fabulously, so I’m sure you really got a rest. Lovely to spend time with your grandbaby. I’m off to Montana this week to visit my grands …. really looking forward to it! My coast is fine…. October and November are, I think, our best months. The Channel Islands just glisten offshore.
And, as to chickens!…. so glad you got to visit open & her chickens. I was charmed to realize last weekend that my local daughter has a neighbor with chickens….. love the sound of them. Of course, I’ve never been there to be awakened by the rooster…. so there is that!
been getting down into the high 30′s these past couple nights. not good for being outside but great sleeping weather :) i slept so good last night that i was up an hour and a half *before* the crack of noon today
who wudda thunk *laughing*
Welcome back, Suzanne.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? be sure to tell your bulgarian uncle i sent him my regards
this week is our prime viewing week and its forking gorgeous outside — trees in varying shades of gold, orange and yellow.
have a wonderful time with your grandbabies and daughter….
*heh* You were saving that one up just for me, eh…? ;-)
hey blue — thanks — how ya doing tonight?
heh — btw you owe wmd a drink
well fuck — nevermind.. that is a completely different beatles birthday song…
its been a long day *laughing* and i’ve been celebrating…
I’m still recovering from my bout of salmonella and I’m thinking of doing a quick survey of people at my local Safeway and
You can help me out by answering the questions for me and telling me how to either word them better or use a better one.
Drinks all around, pick yer poison, pups…! ;-)
oh no spocko — i didn’t know your food was among that which was tainted…..
I think you know about Bill Marler, yes?
i’ve have what’s in that cute little green and white polka dotted water pipe if you don’t mind tut…
How do the French say it? Comme si, comme ca or something I like that. Don’t know how to make the little squiggles under the c’s.
Now yer talking…! ‘Ere…! *koff*
this is about the extent of my ability to frenchify
*ouch* My condolences, spocko…!
in all honesty, i must disclose that back in the day, stephanie and i went to see the backstreet boys and i enjoyed their show
much better than the n’sync show we saw a couple weeks before
Sure, I’m glad to help. Thanks for “liking” our post about potatoes.
If we’re fessing up…. I took my kids to see Air Supply at Jazzoo (or something like that) in Cincinnati in the ’80s. Loved the show! Saw them again this summer at Ventura County Fair….. and they were just as good. I’m still laughing….. the gals up front dancing and swaying were all in their 40s and more. Entertainment is entertainment!
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight? how was england?
Welcome back Suz!
You think YOU’VE got it tough with French? Look how limited my abilities are.
i’d go see bsb again — sometimes ya just need some pop rock to make ya throw your hands up in the air Wave them around like you just don’t care
thanks bev — how’s dc tonight?
there is no forking way i can top that dood
tut’s got it easy with hawaiian
hiya, Suzzzz – welcome back, we really missed ya.
Hi everyone. I’m doing fine, 60 degrees now, not bad for Fall. Good to see you back at the keyboard.
Safeway has said that “food safety is our highest priority.”
Do you associate the Safeway Brand with safe food?
Do you believe that Safeway has any obligation to protect customers from Unsafe foods? Who has that obligation? The supplier? The Government? The customer?
Have you ever had food poisoning? How severe? Do you know who was to responsible? Did they change their actions after they were alerted?
Have you every made a mistake cooking or baking something? Over or undercooked something?
Are you aware that last week Fresh raw chicken from Foster Farms were subject to an FSIS/USDA Public Health Alert due to Salmonella associated with raw or undercooked products?
Did you know that Foster Farms also produces Safeway Farms Fresh Chicken, Eating Right Fresh Chicken, Open Nature and O Organics brand of Fresh chicken?
Were you aware that these products, that have been found contaminated with salmonella, were responsible for 451 reported cases of food poisioning yet they have not be subject to recall or withdrawal and are still being carried in Safeway stores today?
(I Explain reason why they weren’t recalled.)
Safeway has posted an alert about their continuing selling of these products contaminated with salmonella because “It was determined that a recall was unnecessary because fresh chicken, when handled and cooked properly, is safe for consumption.”
What is the correct temperature for Chicken to be cooked to (breast, thigh, leg) Do you use a thermometer when you cook chicken?
Having answered these questions and given this information
Do you belive Safeway has said that “food safety is our highest priority.”
Do you associate the Safeway Brand with safe food?
thanks ppd — how’s monterey bay tonight?
Pretty amazing. London was beautiful and full of culture and history — we went everywhere, including the play at the Globe Theatre’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
we were 67 today (actual sunshine!!!) today and its been in the high 30′s at night. great sleeping weather
i read your pho boys post about the food
cooling off tonight after controlled burn at Fort Ord all day – prevailing winds were off shore so we just stayed away from the peninsula.
Hope you’re feeling well & glad to be back.
Some primo hawaiian…! ;-)
its good to be back ppd :) i remember a controlled burn at ft ord that didn’t stay that way — good this one did
They were so kind to us. Really. We miss them so much in the UK.
ltns, CE – so London was great, eh?
What are they doing with Ft. Ord these days, PPD…?
this is forking primo
Hello, Suze – one last hippo birdies wish to you…it is fun to get b’day wishes from all over, isn’t it?
sorta like when i moved to oregon… i went on for months about how nice the people are up here… still do as a matter of fact.
so different that the ‘don’t make eye contact’ california experience
divided it over two days with good weather conditions to minimize risk of that happening again.
Suz, Happy Birthday! Hoping all your wishes come true.
Our trip was wonderful. We stay in the hotel owned by the Royal College of Surgeons, in Lincoln’s Inn Fields, near Holdon.
hey tejan — thanks! how was your day, birthday triplet?
Everybody must get stoned…! ;-)
CE, your post via David Lebovitz yesterday sent me over to his blog, where I hadn’t been for awhile. Yum. He mentioned a recipe in his book, Ready for Dessert…when I allowed myself to wander into a bookstore today, I looked through it and found myself buying it. ;)
Chocolate!French recipes with chocolate…
thanks nix — tis good to be back. how ya doing tonight?
I am so glad.
good they learned from that huge fuck up… that was scary times
Oh wow! No eye contact, how very weird!
thanks bev — its been a pretty awesome day :)
Part of it is still military. Big parts were annexed by the cities to the south and north. Feds transferred enough land & infrastructure to create Cal State Monterey Bay, which has been up and running for over 10 years. I’m taking a tour of the campus in the AM tomorrow.
Hippo birdies again, tj…! ;-)
It was good! Not a spectacular one, but a good one. Worked about a half day, then went off to do some more or less fun errands. Bought myself a Red Velvet cupcake, and ate it this evening.
Indulged at the bookstore…surprise.
*passing it back to ya* ‘ere
Oops. I see it’s your birthday.
Nice of you to spend some of it with us.
Hey Tej! Long time no see! I love, love David’s blog.
Cool to hear about CS-MB, is the ‘military’ part used by the Cal. NG/Reserves…?
Have you been watching the GP series The Hollow Crown, CE? Unbelievable.
Thanks! I love the city.
people drive into the garages and go into their house without knowing who their neighbors are. strange and yet to me, at the time, that was my normal. everyone is so scared of pissing somebody off and road rage and the like… i really don’t like the burbs because of my ca experiences
No, not at all We have been watching the White Queen though, and Sleepy Hollow.
We still have DLI and NPS here. Some functions are handled at Ft. Ord. Not sure about NG/reserves. I’ll see what I can find out, and let you know.
Don’t miss it, CE
i love red velvet cupcakes. up here i can get them in ‘two bite’ size with a dollop of cream cheese frosting inside the cake part.
Rats – battery dying again. Guess I gotta go. Lovely sharing another birthday with ya Suze, and Laura. Good night, all.
thanks nix — seemed like a great way to celebrate my return to the dark side of the lake after a month’s absence and my bday all on the same day with my fdl family
Yeah, just look at the pictures…yummmm
g’nite and hippo birdies tejan
Not sure how much longer full episodes will be available online
The four play series is available on DVD, I’m sure.
You’re welcome, Suzanne.
The dark side of the lake.
Now, I’m scared. Waah.
That’s right the Language institute is still there, what’s the NPS, my army acronyms are a bit rusty…! ;-)
good night. Sleep well.
Not as scary at your new nick in 2016 — nixonclinbushbamacruz …
tis an old school reference to when its dark outside … we got our fire going to chase any monsters away
Naval Postgraduate School — a real plum for anyone who gets that two year tour. A lot of NASA astronauts are alumni.
Sweet dreams, tj…!
time for some sleep – night all — welcome back again, Suzzz
Did you get a chance to see your mom, Suzanne?
Pleasant dreams, PPD…! Watch out, Suz…! ;-)
nope. i hit heavy traffic and rain on my way home from the puget sound and ended up behind the wheel for 6 and a half hours. i was in such pain when i got home… convinced me that there was no way i could do a 12 hour drive to the bay area and that’s only the halfway point to mom’s in az. :( :( :(
Roll Me Up And Smoke Me When I Die…
99…! I saved the B’day girl…! ;-)
I do understand! I’m kind of afraid that on Default Day someone will shut down the TSA (NOT that I’d miss ‘em!) and ground all the planes and I’ll be stranded in Salt Lake City. I told my girl that I’ll just get on a Greyhound….. or buy a car!…. and keep on coming til I reach her and family. Travel is not the pleasure it was in my youth.
congrats tut!!! (and thanks dood)
You are a fine human being! A true friend….. and a great host to us late laters! Thanks CT for all you do.
i used to drive down to tuscon from the sf bay area and return during a 3 day weekend and was none the worse for wear
there are parts to this aging thing that i do not like — but then again, sure as hell beats the alternative
Mahalo, Dearie…! Some good news for ya, it truly looks like Boner threw in the towel…! ‘It’s All Over’
Well, I’ll believe it when it plays out without having my SS and Medicare cut! If Obama really held the line, I’ll send him an email of apology. I’ve certainly sent him enough “grow a spine” emails!
i’m not gonna believe anything until i see and hear that infamous lady singing…
don’t trust any of ‘em further than i can toss them – and i can’t toss for shit
I agree, how ‘clean’ is that clean CR…!
i owe ya a beverage of your choice dear….
how much closer does it bring us to the ryan budget???
Perhaps a cup of sleep tea! Wonderful to have you back and to still have tut around to keep us on track. Sleep well, all!
*sliding ya steaming cup of sleepytime*
MoJo had the Senate text available, but, I haven’t seen any breakdown of the #’s yet…!
Sweet dreams, Dearie…!
i dont trust these forkers — betcha there is chained cpi in there along with other gop platforms
i’m gonna head out pups. thank you for making my return and birthday a fun evening. i enjoyed it :)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
I assume this is all pre-austerity theatrics, but it’s damn good theatre insofar as the Tea Party are dead serious, and it appears Obama is straight punking them with the most humiliating and merciless beat-down I can remember.
I don’t love Obama or hate the Tea Party, but he certainly conveyed who is their commander and chief.
Hey, Suzanne, I didn’t know you had been so far a field. Welcome back. And sounds like it was a great outing/celebration. Im usually “in” before LLN, but good to see you and Yes, a Happy One to you.
So sorry I missed the festivities, Suz. I drove today, and I fell asleep early and could not keep the eyelids propped open. I guess just getting, um, old. Nice to see the lln fonts, seems like ya had a good b-day.
hey rev bev! thank you
