The Austerity Allstars – Bugger The Bankers
#S17 Happy 2nd Anniversary, Occupy…! We’re still the 99%…!
What’s on your mind tonite…?
Aloha, lln pups…! Allow me to set the tone and timor of tonite’s celebration with some Monty Python…! ;-)
Hi, CT. Happily at home after working up north…. glad to be in my paradise. How’s yours?
Aloha, Dearie…! It was another gorgeous day here…!
We Are The Many…!
And not to go all political, but, hey, why not?….. once again NSA must have been busy reading my emails rather than checking out a mentally ill guy who managed to off a whole bunch of folks who were just in the way of his ‘voices.’ Well, our very expensive “Keep You Safe” organizations missed the underwear bomber, the Boston bombers, and on and on and on and on………………………. but, hey, Freedom!
Green and left-wing lawmakers on Wednesday nominated US intelligence leaker Edward Snowden for the European Parliament’s prestigious Sakharov human rights prize. (from Hindustan Times)
No worries, M’dear, they’ve got us pesky Occupiers under control, eh…?
I hope that some of the populace will eventually catch on that the NSA programs are strictly for the enrichment of the already-rich. There is no security coming along for the rest of us.
But, I look forward to traveling again soon…. “Grope a Granny”…. what else do I pay taxes for?
Malala, the girl that survived the acid attack is also in line for the Nobel prize…!
If she doesn’t ‘win’ it this year, maybe Obama can give her his Nobel. Makes good sense to me.
Joan Baez, on 11/11/11… Salt of the Earth…!
hey, bb, did your town finally get it’s water problems solved?
2 relevant videos and AA Bugger the Banksters. And Monty… Goodo.
Hola pups. My fonts coming atcha from LAX – next stop Lima Peru & then on to Cozco! Will send some good vibes to you high in the Andes. Maybe we can learn a bit from Peru, which has had it’s share of dark days & troubles but seems to be on an upswing now.
Inprocess building a gravity sewer costing $200.00 a month for40 years! Just let a new cat out of the bag of tricks…another $64 millionforwater treatment infrastructure. We are buggered!!!
Right on, onitgoes…! Happy travels indeed…!
Enjoy the adventure. Looking forward to updates…. and photos.
Ain’t it the truth? Did you see Phoenix Woman’s post about weird Gen Alexaner’s gazillion dollar office tricked out like the bridge of frickin Star Trek Enterprise ? Dr Stangelove has nothing on Alexander. Your tax dollars at work my friends
Here was Occupy Hilo’s very first action, bb…! ;-)
My sister is living through this on Cape Cod. Her town could have voted to work on problems years/decades ago….. voters denied the problem. It only gets more costly. May make her property worthless in the long run if the problems aren’t dealt with.
Also true but think many of those were false flags & Fibbies gone wild. The average mentally ill person buying a gun is of no interest to the PTB. More dead peasants is a good day for them.
Remember when expensive toilet seats were the scandal? Wow, those were the days~
Interesting that the Navy had 6 weeks warning from another jurisdiction. Sad for the families of the murdered to know that. Think anyone will be held accountable. Look forward!
*heh* $700 hammers too…! Some mighty expensive nails to pound, eh…? ;-)
It’s a fantastic song, CT — thank you for the heads up. I just tweeted it, and am surprised to see how many times it’s been tweeted (by no less a personage than Helen Caldicott, among others).
Again, regrettably, I have to bail on you early tonight, but you did me a favor by calling this song to my attention. I encourage other Firepups on Twitter to tweet it as well.
Superior news. What a great man Snowden is.
*heh* I’m not even done for the nite, bw…! Pleasant dreams, mi amigo…! ;-)
They Want It All…
Hell No (I’m Not Alright)…
Affordable options were bypassed in favor of pork barrell project. I am an affordable housing advocate.Average wage in our county is less than USA 1963 minimum wage. An added $300.00 a month break many households including single retirees. With a good water treatment plant and a Septic Tank collection we would be at 1/3 of this project which is based on lie stacked on lie. And our groups never wanted the NO PROJECT. Follow the money my dear.
Come On, Come On, Come On…
I like chrishayes. I’m glad there’s a place on tv where people talk about things, substantively, discussion style. He was hot tonight talking about the wake of the mass killing in DC.
So sad. But in my sister’s case, there were state bonds available a few years ago….but no longer. And now … well, who knows? The residents just know that if the water table drops, no one will have water. So… on they go.
Aloha, k-pop, I’ve liked the breath of fresh air Chris has been at MSNBC, but, he’s also lost some of the luster that he once possessed, just like Rachel…!
Pete Seeger, Arlo Guthrie, et al…
On a brighter note I ate 3 ears of corn on cob with light steamed green beans, yellow crook neck squash after going to town to see my 89 year old neighbor in hospital, bought a grow light for my tomato green house, a bale of Canadian Spangum peat moss and some organic veggies that are not growing for me. Yum dinner. Before I rowed 6 kilometers on my rowing machine. Good recovery!
Life is what you make it to a degree that good choices make it better.
Speaking of Amsterdam earlier… The Sound of Sunshine…
the ‘good guy with a gun’ fable should be clearly seen as not the solution.
A wag once asked if I knew why we have laws. The answer he had was so that people don’t kill each other in the streets.
On Saturday, two were killed by the nypd in response to an irrational man with mental issues. He wasn’t shot. Innocent bystanders were.
This also, shows the lie that ‘a good guy with a gun’ is just another lie. To keep the ‘good guys’ in control.
This is what the problem is. Even the shooters and wanna be’s. They want control. And can’t have it.
My brain keeps getting stuck on one study. A nat’l survey of law enforcement was done a couple years ago where they took samples at all the practice firing ranges for law enforcement. They found that with trained cops, average accuracy was near 20%. So, 80% of shots by the ‘good guys’ was off target.
These were trained, controlled, practice range conditions. Not out in the street in hectic situations.
So on a military base, in the places where they have all the controls in place, they can’t keep it together to save innocent bystanders.
All because the nra and gun nuts have effective lobbyists?
This is not america
You’re doing it right!
You had me at the three cobs of corn, bb…! ;-)
They found that with trained cops, average accuracy was near 20%. So, 80% of shots by the ‘good guys’ was off target.
A very poignant point, k-pop…! Good thing I’m a better shot than that…! ;-)
Yeah, well sadly this is America.
Stats out today that the states that chose to embrace ALEC promoted “Stand Your Ground” have seen 50% increase in such shootings, while states that stood against ALEC on that idea have seen gun murders reduced.
Well, heck, facts can’t be trusted….. let’s see what the bible says/s
The Great Mandala…
I’m a champ at the shooting range. I wonder if I should put a sign on my house to warn off the cops?
On the other hand, if they are only 20% accurate, how to they manage to blow away so many totally innocent people?
they entirely forgot ‘turn the other cheek’ and instead say, ‘get them before they get you’ ;(
“On the other hand, if they are only 20% accurate, how to they manage to blow away so many totally innocent people?
because they mistakenly get in the way of those innocent bullets of course.
Also, thsi sis a pretty good idea:
“I’m a champ at the shooting range. I wonder if I should put a sign on my house to warn off the cops?”
Not that they’d come for you, even if you called.
*heh* I wouldn’t mind squaring off with ya on a shooting range, M’dear…! I’ll have to add ya to my ‘bucket list’…! ;-)
I learned it as ‘collateral damage’, k-pop…!
And, why, I wonder, can the cops not shoot in the arm/shoulder/leg/knee/or whatever to take down someone who makes them askeert rather than going for a heart/head shot? Makes no sense to me. Or to the parents of the mentally ill/football players/confused.
But, hey, good that a “contractor/mercenary” has access to the Naval Yard and can kill a bunch of civilians to satisfy the voices in his head.
Jeez, we really need to grow up!
Chris Hedges, today from Zucotti Park…
But the Fire Dept did come for me… when I didn’t call. Scared the crap out of me as they tried to break through a window. I stepped outside in my jammies at 1:30 a.m. … woke to lights all over my house and the sound of my neighbor saying “I’ve got a key; I’ve got a key.” Turns our that they were supposed to be responding to the house across the alley from me. Me: “Can I help you?” Hot young men in yellow rubber suits: “Are you the one stuck in the bathtub?” Me: “No, you need to be across the alley….. and could you put my window back together when you’re done?
So how much did it cost ya for the window, Dearie…?
I am old, but I have an eye! I don’t “do” guns, but I actually enjoyed going to the shooting range and finding that I still have a knack!
Also part of the problem. EVERYBODY thinks they are better shots than that…
Nobody is making stats on who is better at saving people from violence…
They actually did a mostly okay job of putting my window back together and the fire chief actually called the following week to see if they should do more. I admire our local agencies. They do good work. I’ve always been a fan of firefighters and cops. But I live local.
that’s a great story
the city here is making sure people have correct street numbers on houses… it’s part of their newly invested rental inspection tour
Just because… A Change Is Gonna Come…
Here is Arlo at the induction center 1 minute jumping up and down in his jockey shorts shouting I wanta Kill Kill Kill. You might enjoy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-NzFJxX8yoY
That’s good. My neighbor who was indeed stuck in the bathtub actually had numbers on her house….. and her “street” is different from mine — an alley is between us but I front on an actual street. But, gee, the guys were all so sweet and well intended that I couldn’t get mad at them. Cute, too, of course. I think a requirement for firefighter status is cuteness.
Oh c’mon, k-pop…! I don’t own a firearm, but, after firing everthing from a stinger missile, to a 155mm Howitzer, and, even a M1 Abrams main gun, I do rather enjoy expending a few rounds down range…! ;-)
that’s a part of a good occupation… knowing your public servants and getting their support ;)
Emergency services needs to see your street number to find you in case of 911 call. Just sayin.
Yeah, well they took out my window even though they were on the wrong street and my neighbor stuck in the tub had numbers on her house. Life is not always ‘organized.’
Billy Bragg, There is power in a union…
It’s fine for you and I to disagree CT. I always ask those with the big trucks and those with talk of big guns, what they are hunting. Squirrels? Deer? Dinosaurs?
Somebody, had a tweet saying the two words ‘well regulated’ seems to be the least understood words in the constitution…
What’s also kind of funny is that I said, “Oh, did you break my gates?” They responded, “No, ma’am, we put someone over the top.” They were so sweet and gracious. So much for gates and such.
Tell me where we actually disagree, k-pop…? ;-)
Edit: I don’t think anybody needs anything above a 7.72mm for ‘hunting purposes’…!
This is as close as it gets to perfection… What’s Going On…
And you’d feel awful if someone happened to be mistakenly ‘down range’.
I have never understood the zeal my countryfolks have for blowing things up.
Why? Because we can? Because we like the ‘feel’ of ‘control’? Because we don’t want to embarass ourselves and crap our pants if we’re afraid we might lose control of that illusion of control?
It’s a George Zimmerman mindset. Is that we want?
I don’t think so.
and honestly I’m not trying to rev you or anyone up. Just making my case.
I know you didn’t ask me, but I’m going to respond. First shooting I ever did was at arcades with those shooting galleries. I liked having a good eye and a good aim. I haven’t actually hunted, but I think I would hunt for birds if I got invited… because I could cook them well. I don’t think I could shoot a large animal… but that’s me. I know that after years of seeing deer carcasses on the highway in Ohio, I figured there surely should be a hunting season.
I’ve been to a shooting range as an old person just for the fun of it. Pleased that I still have an eye. I also like knowing that I still can edit and correct grammatical mistakes. Just skills. That’s enough.
that’s great, I feel the same way.
haven’t been shooting in a while and have no problem with that, skill sharpening, hunting for game. Good things.
I also know there are people who see their ability to manipulate firearms as an almost sacred rite. An achievemnet they feel proud that they can do it. And that’s good as far as that goes.
What part of my not owning a gun do you misinterpret…! I have no desire to own one, but, they really are cool to fire on a controlled range…! Btw, I had the pleasure of tossing a goofball Private down on the turf, when after I’d handed him a live hand grenade, he’d decided to watch his handiwork…! *gah*
I also like knowing that I still can edit and correct grammatical mistakes.
*heh* Just not at lln…! 8-P
Wow! Australian dust storm
From the description
This handout [photo], posted by Perth Weather Live, shows a towering red dust storm over the ocean ahead of the cyclone approaching Onslow on the West Australian coast on January 9, 2013. Tug boat worker Brett Martin, who captured the fearsome pictures 25 nautical miles from the town of Onslow, reported conditions were glassy and flat before the storm hit late int he day. But when the wild weather arrived, the swell lifted to two metres, winds increased to 40 knots and visibility was reduced to 100 metres.
Just happy to be here, CT. I put my red pen away for the night.
And now I’m off to dreamland. Carry on………..
I’m not misinterpreting. Or think less of you as a person.
I also see you are a de-escalating personality. Not having, or having guns, even being a collector of guns, is all a personal choice.
To me, it’s not about the person, but the behavior.
And the behaviors of people at fire ranges that I have been to, imo,is largely unpraiseworthy. When you go, you know who they are.
I can’t leave out Guitarmy’s works… One Guitar…
Aloha, john…! That is amazing…!
Sweet dreams, M’dear…!
Quick! let’s start the meme that it’s God’s wrath at the conservatives winning in Australia!
“It’s springtime in Australia,
and God is surely pissed.
The wrath He’s got in store for us,
this towering bloody mist…”
Well, I shall bid y’all another fond adieu for the evening, mahalo for the great company…!
Aloha Oe…! *g*
This should fit right in, Utah Phillip’s Will Rogers story
thank you CT for hosting and putting up with my badgering. I am really just airing issues…
It was Ataturk from yesterday!
Doh! – and the bystanders at Times Square were shot and wounded, not killed, I gather. Who pays their bill? -”gah”
