What’s on your mind?
happy thursday pups!
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Another excellent choice…! ;-)
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? glad ya liked it… been a good trip down memory lane this week
I’ve been having a different sort of trip down memory lane this past week or so…! I just got home about a half hour ago from a Round the Isle trip with my Sis and Bil, and were doing some serious reminiscing all along the way…! ;-)
how long does it take to drive around the big island?
If you’re doing a nonstop drive along the belt highway, about 5 and 1/2 – 6 hours…!
sounds like a fun way to spend an afternoon… back when i went to honolulu, we rented a car and drove around that island… took our time and the entire day.
that trip was 37 years ago this coming christmas. i bet it has changed a lot since then.
The only way to travel is to go where the wind takes you and at whatever speed it’s blowin’.
hey tuez — how ya doing tonight? when my girls were little, we would hop in the car and just drive. was a great way to spend those hot summer nights when everyone was bored and there was only reruns on the tv.
What were your fave sites, when you weren’t busy being sick…? ;-)
*heh* My Bil kept insisting that he wants to get a sailboat when he retires and sail the Pacific…! It went over like a lead zepplin with my Sis…! ;-)
we had dinner at the polynesian cultural center and an evening of dancing and storytelling. i loved the balcony on our hotel room the best — one floor below the penthouse overlooking the marina and the ocean beyond it. great forking sunsets :) i remember seeing lush vegetation and little waterfalls and loved the afternoon rainshower that left the air so clean and cool. the don ho show was a hoot! lotsa good memories of our 4 day stay.
How is this for bizarre. My SIL who keeps her house on total lockdown at all times (I live in a barn by comparison), found a snake in her bedroom today. I inquired, it wasn’t an old boyfriend-she’s been married about 40 years. Her cats seem to have killed it before she found it, since it didn’t move when the BIL picked it up. Can you imagine finding a snake slithering along your floorboards? Yikes.
Kailua-Kona has changed a lot from when my Sis last visited…!
i’m your captain
*shrudder* do ya think the cats brought it inside to play with? bailey cat used to do that with field mice…
when i was out in tillamook in june, a lot had changed in the year and a half since i lived there. token and i drove around a wee bit after we visited with mel and marie. empty lots where there had been empty buildings, some new businesses downtown etc.
thx fer all the great music all week Suz, but 2nite’s ledzep is blowin away the cobwebs fer sure!
howmanymoretimes is a highschool favorite of mine and with rambleon in those variations, splendid!
Evening, Suzzzz – doing well tonight, I hope?
hey ks — glad ya liked it. how’s ks tonight?
hey ppd — hanging in and hanging on :) how you doing tonight?
Pretty good, thanks – just relaxing in front of the tube.
humid, but cooler tonight
and you in your woodland?
I’m sure you didn’t have to pay these prices back then, eh…?
another day of 89 – hit 90 in pdx today. been running the a/c in the bedroom with a fan to blow that air into the living room to keep it comfy. weather doodette says one more day and then it will cool off back to the 70′s and 80′s. its the fact that it is still 72 outside that gets to me… i really do expect a lot more cooling down when the sun sets yanno *laughing*
My SIl doesn’t allow her cats out. On the other hand, my 4 leggeds go in and out all day. I think the snake found a hole somewhere and went inside. At my house, all a snake would need to do is find a door the dog had left open, since the dog knows how to open doors, but doesn’t bother to shut them behind her.
lard love a duck no way! ex #1 was not fond of spending his money yanno… i think that’s why we rented a car — it was cheaper to drive around and not stop at the obvious looking tourist shops *laughing*
hey talcott — how ya doing tonight?
if only the dog would close the door *laughing* i’m so glad token doesn’t know that trick — of course he’s nowhere big enough to reach the door knob
immigrant song/wanton song
what is and what should never be
This one only knows how to get in one door. The last dog, I used to joke, I locked the house, not to keep people out but to keep him in. There wasn’t a door or screened window he couldn’t get out.
The sliding door, his nose took care of that. If a door’s lock wasn’t frozen so he could just bust in or out, he had paws for that. Screens, no problem, just bust them out. Unless, he thought we were at a neighbors he stayed at home, otherwise, he joined the party.
On edit: He always joined us at the neighbors, farther away he stayed home.
yikes! i’m really glad token is a short little dog … there are times it is convenient.
hahha, the squirrels did a number on the car. meaning, they sat in the tree above and chewed the green walnuts in the tree above it. So
I came home to a car with a layer of squirrel tossings all over it.
When I hosed it off, I also opened a rear door and found the start of a hornet’s nest in the space under a connective deal on the inside of the door. I may get the nerve to go out and take care of it when I get batteries for the flashlight. I’ll deffo do it at night. ;)
holy moly – you were only gone 8 days!
in the evening
one summer we had a couch out on the porch.
Sometimes sat out there and read in the afts.
People would notice the wasp lookin dudes, but if you ignore them, they do you, usually.
Came home one night and we decided to see what we got and moved the couch and tipped it over.
They swarmed us and as we went inside, came after us. Then they were in the foyer and swarmed the front door, now closed. But also made it into individual rooms. I ended up on the couch on the inside trying to swat the last ones inside the living room hovering around the light fixture.
We did manage to crawl out an upstairs window and then down to take a look at the damage from outside, on the sidewalk.
The whole front door window was covered and most of the big plate glass window, too.
oh my goodness ks — how long did it take to clear out the house
after calling a bunch of people to warn them not to come over, we also called tyhe landlord to set up a way to fix it. He called an exterminator.
The next day after work I came home and the couch was gone.
Landlord later called saying the bill was $235 and I could pay it in pieces but that the nest was six feet long, a couple feet wide and as many as two ffet thick in places. Coulda housed 200,000-600,000 insects.
Had no idea how long it had been growing.
A friend later told me, “Hahahaa, I knew I wasn’t gonna stop by, I could see you were busy through the window dancing on top of the couch with your pledge and flyswatter.”
no fucking way — wow — just how long did ya sit on that sofa before this happened? months?
I wasn’t gonna get to sleep with them buzzin around the house.
i think i wudda been willing to head to a friends or a motel that night…wasps are nothing to fork with
at least six months, but maybe it was there from the year before. And they came back and built on it. CONDOS! Hurray! Come Quick!
only a couple of us got stung and those weren’t bad.
Less than ten years ago.
We got bugs in kansas.
Sorry to be such the post and run type ;D
Lotsa stuff to read o.O
British and Hollywood rock stars always make jokes about the bugs here in kansas. The Who, Rolling Stones, Clapton, Van Halen. go figure, maybe it’s the one thing they feel they can chat us about. hahaha
still love ‘em
i remember the bugs from my vists back there. the windshield was never clean…
enjoying the evening :) posting and running is fine — am glad you stopped by
tis about time for me to head out folks. thank you for stopping by and letting me chat with ya tonight
g’nite all — happy dreams
That is one humongous nest, kpop…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
yeh, and it was just a few days before that we had begun to get the idea that there might be something going on nearby…
