How To Order A Pizza In 2015.
What’s on your mind?
Can I get zed on my pizza?
hey zedding wmd — are ya sure you don’t want the soy yogurt pizza?
Seemed to go well today. Nice lunch with one possible manager, then 5 hours, 2 people interviewing me for an hour, one hour with just one person. Total number of people is 12 (10 today, 2 technical phone interviews).
I think I may have 9 solid “hire this guy” responses (including both potential managers), no don’t hire responses. Should know by end of next week.
sweet! how do you feel about working there now that you had that much time with them?
Pretty exhausting to sell oneself for 6 solid hours. They ended with asking me to write code in the last 20 minutes. I started to rathole on implementation details rather than just write decent pseudo code…
gotta be emotionally draining. how are you celebrating getting through that process?
The corporate culture reminded me a lot of Sun Microsystems back in the day – “kick butt, have fun”. Very clear that people are highly motivated to do very cool work, and to have fun doing it. Everyone seemed to be very intelligent too, and I’m always at my best when I’m working with smart folks. Some of my best work was when I worked with scientists at various national laboratories.
I would really like them to make me a decent offer because I am confident I’d like working there.
Commute is 71 miles round trip. Only traffic is last 3 miles inbound or first 3 miles outbound.
Had a couple of beers after I changed clothes, ate a salad… probably should sleep soon.
… the soy yogurt pizza?
Good Gawd, there is such a beast…? ;-)
Aloha, Suz, wmd, and lln pups…!
wow how forking kewl dood! is there any opportunity for you to work from home?
aloha tut — watch the video *laughing* how’s your vacation from paradise in paradise tonight?
soy, yogurt, vegan, gluton-free and green pizza
hey senator — how’s sac tonight?
Sure. one of my potential colleagues and I talked about my route over the mountains, he mentioned snow and I had a natural entré to talk about WFH. He said it’s basically no problem. If/when I get an offer I’ll ask about WFH once per week.
HR person talked with me in the first 15 minutes… I said I’m planning a vacation in mid September, pretty sure I can negotiate not having a negative balance as part of the offer if they make one (i.e. they either give me a leave balance to start or pay a signing bonus that covers leave without pay for a vacation).
Moving, we are forkin’ moving. The house is 90% packed up and we are ready to rumble.
sounds like it is meant to be dood — fingers and toes crossed
have ya found a place?
Well next week I’ll know. In the meantime I’m still working on finding other opportunities.
Watching an incredibly stupid, inane movie called “American Reunion.” No, not watching, it is just on in our house while I am doing other things… ahem MrCE…
Weather fantastic all day, with guests for lunch in our local French restaurant. All told, a great day.
Dayam, Suz, where on earth did ya find that jewel…? ;-)
That’s so true on so many levels…! It’s too bad Big Brother doesn’t have the compunction to look out for our general welfare…!
heya ce — whatcha got planned for the weekend?
surfing the utubes today…. i was *wow*
I have a book talk on Thursday, the true story of the theft of a world-famous altarpiece stolen seven times between the 1400′s and WWII. I have to finish reading the book, and what better place to do that than on our deck? Under an umbrella?
Funny thing is we found a place just down the street. After all of my complaining about Rancho Cordova, I am staying. Go figure.
i’m also super excited about the one i found for tomorrow night
all ya need is the appropriate beverage on your table
no way! ohmyforkingstars!!!
Stealing the Mystic Lamb
Yep. 3/4 of a mile down the same street, on the far side of the river. We tried hard to get back to the Bay Area. Way too expensive. We even looked in Vallejo (Deadwood).
I think that would be the new gin I bought in Delaware! Have yet to open…
wow, an international best seller even :) definitely need the appropriate beverage and something to munch on while reading under an umbrella on the deck
no fucking way. you are still gonna have the river and greenbelt behind you? *banging head on keyboard*
the perfect occasion
I hope the weather is wonderful. We are expecting sunshine for days!
me too — not too hot and not too cold with just the right amount of breeze.
i thought this one was pretty good too
I am having some problems here with responding… am I here?
sometimes the reply all button won’t work until the page is fully loaded. if for some reason the page is loading really slowly, just refresh the page and it should resolve.
I just figured it was the NSA playing with us. Hi, NSA!
OK this seems true.
i thought so too. i usually have the music videos figured out early on but the fri and sat nights are figured out on teh day of. i’ve had too many cartoons pulled from utube when i’ve already done the post – i don’t create them in advance like i do the others.
heya dearie — how’s the coast tonight? *turning and giving our nsa minders the traditional one finger salute*
So true, they’ve had me since 1970. Hiya NSA! “Waving from any fountain.”
Surprisingly humid this summer…. but not too hot at my coast. I’m not complaining. Did have trouble getting FDL to come up this evening. Seems to be working well now.
“am I here ?”…….sounds so apropos for zee times wee live in. :)
Yep. Sometimes it feels as if there is no here here. :)~
must be forking white vans on the tubes again *glaring at nsa*
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight?
Hey you, openhope. All is fine here now.
I have to laugh; Box Turtle has been throwing out so many ‘key words’ in the mornings that I think NSA has got all of us on its ‘whoosh’ list.
lotsa folks are starting to wake up to the fact that we are all on various governmental lists…
Major (non-medical) crisis with 90-yr old mom in Hilo. I would appreciate advice re Kona-Hilo transport options, etc. I’m in San Diego; to be sure, LAX is within range.
I’ve sent you an FDL friends request, so we might communicate directly/via email.
While flying into Hilo is an option, schedules and prices certainly favor LAX – Kona. I see the county bus is available, and I personally don’t mind that sort of thing at all, even at 5 hrs plus; meet the locals, see the scenery (been to multiple islands before, love ‘em all).
Please look at the Friend Request on your FDL account, if you might provide some advice.
It’s amazing to me…. I hear so many people coming to life… and then so many others still saying “Oh, we all knew all that stuff”. I think the best that can happen is to keep the issue right on the front burner. As well, of course, as keeping all the other anti-citizen issues right up front, too. What a time!
hey gg — i’m so sorry to hear that. i have tut’s email address and the email address you used when you signed in (i have magic powers)… do i have your permission to send the two of you an introductory email from my suzanne at firedoglake email addy?
Aloha, CE, Dearie, and open…! I was actually home alone today at the condo, so I cleaned it from top to bottom…! My reward for my efforts…? I wrecked my ankle when I stepped off the sidewalk to avoid a worker toting a jack hammer that I’d listened to all day…! I swear if it wasn’t for bad luck…!
I’ve been silent for a while… Now it’s time to say good night.
Just to explain how non-medical is Major: huge ripoff by household help, given live-in status due to said help’s own desperate circumstance. Mother is, of course, feeling extremely vulnerable, and needs help moving forward, as well as complex dealings with multiple agencies.
Yes, you do. Thanks very much.
Ooh, I’d just accepted it, gg…! Suz is a sweetheart, I tell’s ya…! ;-)
happy dreams wmd
my pleasure to help out tut
What a nice example of FDL as the family/community that it has always been for me! Wish everybody had a sense of that. We are a pretty special place, I think!
On my mind tonight….I’ve been abusing every friend willing to listen to me go “on and on andon, blah, blah blah”about Jim Humble’s MMS. I’m a proud guinea pig. I also get excited when people at my house get stung by wasps, osquitoes, no-see-ems,or spiders, or have topical issues. My topical is burns because I cook. Because when they have a Hurt, then they let me experiment on the claims Humble makes to topical uses of MMS. The batting average is amazing.
It works. The itching, swelling goes down. Burns heal. Fungus disintegrates around old people’s toenails.
It stopped my allergies. This week I was walking in a hay field in the process of being cut, looking for axle killing rodent holes. Actually, rodent holes the dogs made fuckin’ huge, big enough to drop a tractor and they’re PROUD of them. :)
I did not sniffle, sneeze, think about calling 911 because of extreme wheezing. It was just uncomfortable to be in that humidity, with that level of hay dust sticking to sweat. And I said another little thank you to Life’s Energy.
” Thank you, Life’s Energy, for not letting me get that awesome Quarter Horse gelding I wanted soooooo badly 6 years ago. He’d still be alive and I’d still be dealing with hay.”
i like to think so too. the fdl family is a pretty forking special thing with some really special people
good to hear it is working for you openhope
“We have files pretty files of your”..can’t remember the words…of your fore fathers’ fruits..????
fuck, who was that band. Pink Floyd, probably
x2 without being cliquey , I’m a Groucho Marx-ist. ” I wouldn’t belong to a club that would have me as a member”.
moody blues at 1:30
well, that’s the nice thing about family….. you don’t get a choice! :)
Yay, thank you, Suz!
Hmmm, my computer is get glitchy again, so I think I’ll put it to bed. Thanks for the good company you all. Pleasant dreams.
my pleasure :)
happy dreams dearie
tis about time for me to head out myself. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
Sweet dreams, Suz, Dearie, and all…!
Jeez, spellings are feeling foreign tonight, I was going to say ” Definitely!”, but my brain couldn’t come up with the spelling and I had to chose go to dictionary.
I heart dictionary.
Oh, Dearie, before you go to bed. I read the LLN thread discussing Snowden, a good discussion. I don’t link, but, Kerry Cassidy of Project Camelot has a very good post on the whole conundrum, titled “The Conundrum of Snowden”. She recommends a Jon Rappaport [sp?] article also dealing with the conundrum, though from a different angle. She collects the stories of whistleblowers and puts them out there for consideration.
I highly recommend. I really like her take.
if you go there, one of her latest interviews is with Jim Humble. There’s actually a mysterious YouTube video of the Red Cross performing a simple test of Malaria stricken people, treating them with MMS. They get better and test negative for Malaria. The Red Cross project manager is intrigued and energized by the results.. The project gets shut down and buried.
The video gets posted obscurely on YouTube and discovered. The Red Cross denies the tests ever happened. Jim Humble’s alerted to the video and here we are.
MMS kills pathogens. MMS has a solid track record for allowing the body to heal pathogen driven illnesses. Which is pretty much almost everything.
oops,..I’m going to shut up now. :)
A belated good morning, pups. This morning we have Blow and Collins. Mr. Nocera is off today, no doubt penning another ode to an oil company. Mr. Blow says “The Sadness Lingers,” and that George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin are forever linked, across life and death, across bad decisions and by opposite ends of a gun barrel. Ms. Collins says “The House Just Wants to Snack,” and explains how the House of Representatives came to pass the farm part of the farm bill while leaving food stamps hanging. My guess? It’s all part of the Teatards’ “screw you, I’ve got mine” approach to the world, coupled with their loathing of browns and poors.
Here they are, and
here’s Krugman’s blog.
The coffee, tea and cold drinks are ready, and I’ve got blueberry pancakes this morning. We had absolute torrents of rain last night, so the house was filled with annoyed cats. Except for the 2 who INSISTED on going outside in between downpours and are, therefore, annoyed this morning. Delilah, The Empress Of All The Known Universe, has made it clear that I’m to hustle my bustle outside and dry the lawn for her this morning. She HATES wet feet. So I guess that’s going to call for at least one more cup of tea. Have a great day.
Eventually, paying for anything, even a pizza, with cash will not be an option.
The Gubment wants very cent of tax.
