Alannah Myles — Black Velvet, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, Switzerland, 1994.
What’s on your mind?
happy thursday pups!
happy back atcha…
good song… never was sure if it was about whisky, elvis, painting canvass, or just general southern gothic weirdness…
scarlet! how ya been dood? i think its about all that… and more *laughing*
What’s up? Where are you posting…. and how’s it going? I’ve been completely blown away by your enthusiasm. Still at it?
hey dearie — how was your day today?
red velvet car
Suz, have you read Shock Doctrine? I read it early on… and need to read it again, except I’m a bit afraid to. I think we have all been under the sway of shock doctrine for over a decade now. We just keep getting hit with one slam-bam after another. The overrule of the voting act is just the latest.
And, totally OT….but Sam Alito is a dick!
i read it way back when… i should try to find my copy of it again… i still have a few boxes to unpack *guilty look*
i think the corporations took over years ago and we are just now finding out how much damage they are doing. and i fear there is worse to come
little sammy is always a dick…
That’s not OT at all. As they’d say in the Texas Lege, it’s germane.
hey blue — how ya doing tonight?
Terrific selection this evening, Suzanne — it reminds me of evenings listening to the blues at the Ashgrove on Melrose Avenue in LA my freshman year of college. She has a husky, whiskey-soaked voice and a bad-girl persona. What else has she done?
A little pooped — my mother’s in the hospital, g.f. is moving into a new condo, so helping them both out and my time really isn’t my own right now.
thats a pretty full plate dood
Good evening, Suz. And lln pups..!! Just woke up on the couch to the greatest music on Letterman – Most People by Dawes. Wow..!!
hey past — how was your nap?
that’s a good tune past.. thanks
Alannah Myles is something — I’m a newly-minted fan. Thank you for finding the Ashgrove piece; I loved that. And yes, I have a full plate. I’ve been trying to get some of my own stuff done, but first things first.
she was pretty much a one hit wonder but i’ve always had a soft spot for her voice and this song. ashgrove is one of my fav tunes — iirc i featured it up top before.
you have to take care of yourself so that you *can* take care of others…. keep remembering that
Good point, Suz.
learned that one the hard way about a decade ago…
Thanks for the song up top, Suz. Allannah really belts it out..!!
Black Velvet and water was my next door neighbor’s customary drink; warm summer nights on his porch – he passed about 10 years ago. Here’s to ya, David..!!
i drink alone
Suzanne, I’m just exhausted and will have to bail. Great hanging out with you and the gang as always.
glad ya liked it past
heh..! fall asleep about 9:30 on the couch and then wake up a couple – three hours later, seems to be my pattern of late…. Wide awake and rarin’ to go, now..!
happy dreams blue
my latest is to be super tired… until i go to bed. then i toss and turn and it takes ages before i do sleep. poor token is so pissed at me that he’s taken to sleeping at the foot of the bed on top of the covers…
time for me to take token out. he had his every 6 week visit to the doggie beauty shop this afternoon and is happy to have his summer do — the doggie equivalent to a crew cut.
that’s not good, is it your leg maybe, or is it you just can’t get comfy?
sleep well, Suz..!! Happy dreams. I’ll be awake for a couple hours now, time to go catch up on fdl happenings for the day.
