Mnozil Brass – Lonely Boy.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening pups — i know this one has a slow start but its worth it :)
On my mind: Hello Suzanne and LLN Crew. Did my 50th deposition today and am thrilled…. thrilled, I say…. that I have a two week vacation coming up. It’s wonderful to have work… no doubt! But it is also nice to get a break now and then.
hey dearie — 50th!!! wow, you surely need a vacation after that many :) are you planning on going anywhere?
Nope. We’re at the end of June Gloom, so I’m going to enjoy living near the beach and just enjoying some summer. Have a chore list that I plan to enjoy.
i always enjoy reading my chore list … and then putting it aside for something (anything) else
That’s one of the more, ah, unique acts I’ve seen in a while.
How do you pronounce the band’s first name? Where are they from?
You know, Suz, you’ve listened to me prattle on about my neo-con twin brother over the years. He called, just to chat, this afternoon, and it’s amazing that we agree on so much. I will never be the RushBo that he is, of course, but he actually sometimes listens to my point of view. He listens, amazingly, to Obama’s chittychats, while I can no longer stand the sound of the obfuscating/weaseling ObamaTalk. It’s like crazy!
But, at least we laugh more than we used to! There is that.
hey blue — how was your day? i have no idea of how to pronounce their name. they originated in vienna at a tavern by that first name according to their website.
i’ve been telling my gop relatives for years that we have a lot more in common than they realize — and that the powers that be don’t want us focusing on all that common stuff – they would rather have us all be distracted and fighting each other rather than paying attention.
after all, until the 08 election, i had been a lifelong republican
It was okay — haircut, routine medical checkup, that sort of thing.
As I was going out the door last night, I should have complimented your late father on how he provided for your stepmother when he knew he was dying — very classy act. So will do so now.
Wowie-zowie. Your secret is safe with me.
Recently, I’ve been trying to build bridges to conservative/Republican/right-wing sorts on Twitter about massive government spying, which affects us all. Can’t tell if they’re genuinely outraged or just see it as a way of getting Obama, though.
So true. My brother and I both care about people. If he would quit with the right wing radio, he’d be a happier/nicer person. But when one deals with him one-on-one, he’s really a kind and caring guy. It’s sad, really, what the right wing does to folks.
thanks blue. for all his planning, she passed 11 days after he did. we think she just wanted to be with him. their ashes are in the same urn at my brother’s house.
*laughing* its not a very good secret. for years, i joked that i was the lake’s token republican
i wish r/w radio and fox news would go outta business. they poison minds
11 days! Was it because she couldn’t cope without him?
That’s an interesting observation. I’d probably be a happier/nicer person if I weren’t active in progressive politics, because I see so much that needs to be done, so few (except for in places like here) willing to do it, and I gotta admit I get cranky when people don’t see things my way, although I try to be accepting. So it happens to us lefties too.
You can’t squash ‘em, because it looks like an anti-First-Amendment thing. But Fox isn’t journalism — it’s a propaganda service. I’d like to see a progressive (hah!) get elected President and strong-arm them on the basis that it’s illegal to propagandize Americans, although I think that applies to the government, not private entities.
we think she willed herself to pass. she had a long history of tia’s, including a small one the night before he passed. she went to the er (under protest) and demanded they release her after they determined it was a small one. they were always together. they married when i was 18.
Had to look up TIA on Wikipedia. As I suspected, a small stroke.
It’s a very moving story, Suzanne.
i want their business model to fail in a very humiliating and public way. maybe the news that murdoch had tapped angelina jolie’s cellphone and those around her (including brad pitt) will finally bring down the murdoch propoganda machine
whoops – sorry about that. i should have explained that abbreviation.
they eloped on april fools day and were secretly wed for several years until she retired because at that time, you could not be married to someone who worked in the same department as their spouse (they both worked in the meat department at the presidio commissary in sf).
That would be nice. But I don’t think there is any shame anymore about things that would be disgraceful and illegal and shameful in the not so distant past. We are living in a very strange time.
I share your wish. I don’t know if Pitt/Jolie will do it, but whatever works…
that forking ancient curse :)
hag’s post hit that nail on the head. there is nothing disgraceful anymore — unless, of course, one is a D
ya would think that such a huge power couple could stir up quite a fuss about this and it would dominate the airways. the perfect mix of hollywood celebrity and polical scandal.
but then again, i’m afraid it wont
something’s going on with the protest against TX state #HB60 in Austin tonight, also #TXLege, idk specifics, but it looks a surprise move
thanx for the rec last night Suz!
hey ks — how’s ks tonight? a surprise move by the cops or by the protestors?
it was my pleasure. how did the interview go?
well, it was a discussion with Kobach and a world-renown immigration specialist Alvaro Vargas Llosa. And they took a couple calls, too, spent some 45 minutes at the topic and kept it mostly abstract and also policy specific… so not the best two to go at each other’s perspectives.
But an airing anyway
there was no mention of the folks at the house on Sunday, tho the host brought it up
here’s austintxnow’s twitter feed
it seems a bunch of wimmens have taken over this discussion of denying the health cares of wimmens again in the state house no less ;-)
crap…. there shudda been a question if the host brought it up
that hungarian schnapsodie makes me wish i could perform in one of them yurripean halls … the sound is so great in them
how dare those uppity wimmens talk when the men folk are doing manly things
my hungarian step-father sent me the video. after he escaped over the border into austria, he lived in vienna for years while he learned to be a viennese trained baker. he’s unable to travel now but they used to go to europe often, esp hungary and austria. he talks a lot about the quality of the music there – no matter the size of the hall the music sounds wonderful.
it’s a tricky thing. That got a mention as upcoming topic before a ‘commercial’. Then when they came back, the one wants to reply to something mentioned from before, then it’s time to take a call and the discussion goes in a different direction, etc.
There was a scathing op-ed in the Wichita Eagle – which shocked me for how strong the language was , from that paper, and Kobach just brushed it off with a ‘some people will say anything’ quip. Like they do.
kit is there too also tweeting — here’s his twitter
wow. i think they do those break for commercial things just so they can do a change of subject when they come back
Kobach’s a lawyer like a Ted Cruz. He’s real good at staying on point and flooding the listener with specifics, transitions in speech that gloss over mountains, and then repeating the foregone conclusion he expects you to take home with you. As if, you knew what his conclusion was and that you’re already in agreement. It’s spooky.
Good evening, Suz and lln pups..!
hey past — how was your day?
I just retweeted a post about #hb60 — accidentally did it in my peanut butter Twitter account instead of my political Twitter account. Oh well — peanut butter people need to know about HB60, too.
i’m mostly new to the twitter. I watched Hurricane Sandy hit on twitter. The Ap story, some other stuff . I like the immediacy of it, but know it can be deceptive
esp those women peanut butter lovers who live in tx
what your twitter feed so i can follow you? this is mine
Right. Exactly. :)
OK, gonna bail. Thanks for your gracious hostessing, Suzanne.
this is who I think I am:
Our oldest son’s b-day was today, so we took him, wife & grandkids to dinner at Famous Dave’s BBQ. Mmmm, was a good dinner..!
g’nite blue — happy dreams
