Screaming Thing – Windmills of Your Mind, from episode 201 of The Muppet Show.
What’s on your mind?
happy friday pups!
Hi Suz! Food fight over at TBoggs place again tonight….. they sure do hate the mothership, those dudes and dudettes in the snark tank! Had to take a shower after swimming in that pond. It’s been an ‘interesting’ couple of days. I still think the Constitution and Bill of Rights means something. But, then again, I’m rather known for my naivete. :-)~
hey dearie — how’s the coast tonight? i rememeber how some boggians didn’t like it when he accepted jane’s offer to have his blog as part of fdl.
I actually like reading TBogg’s snark sometimes (despite that he’s kind of an Obamabot)…. and he’s the easy link for me to Charlie Pierce and Wonkette. But, wow, his crew of snarkers is kinda hostile. At least the Wonkadonks are downright funny most of the time. And Charlie Pierce is a treasure.
It’s always just a real surprise to me that the snarkadoodles over there are so nasty to anyone who isn’t part of their club….. their little band of weirdness. I kind of wish Jane would quit putting him on the front page. It doesn’t go well. At least the second post today was a dud that drew almost no comments. I guess the snarkers were busy picking their teeth by the time the second one went up.
i rarely go into the comments other than at lln — i just had to back away and not spend so much time at my computer. its not just comments — i don’t read a multitude of news articles daily nor watch any talking heads. i read all the front page fdl posts and head over to marcy’s but even there, i don’t go into the comments.
The coast was lovely today. Did some work in the garden. Did errands. Taking it easy. I mostly work early in the week…. the end of the week is my ‘vacation’…. and I love the pattern!
when i broke my leg i had to step way back and as i slowly became more mobile, i dreaded my time online since that was in that blasted hospital bed time. when i moved here and didn’t have tv/internet for 11 days, i was jonesin but also grew appreciative of the no tv/no tubes silence. learned not being hyperinformed about every little detail of the news was not the end of the world. also the heavy duty major drugs i was on helped.
Think I’ve left, ever, only one comment on Tbogg. I don’t get it.
Funny stuff, Suzanne. I don’t think that’s the classic version of “Windmills of Your Mind,” is it?
hey ecahn — how ya doing tonight? his type of snark is not for everyone :) some i love and others i’m not sure i get
hey blue — how’s lala land tonight? windmills originated in the film the thomas crown affair in 68
Not into scurrilous language and sexual innuendo. Sophomoric. I graduated from adolescence decades ago.
the original (which was an oscar winner)
True, true…. the internet can become addictive…. and the ‘need to know’ everything that’s going on all the time, also, too. One of the best things about working part time is that I’m pulled away from the travails of the wider world and have time to deal with one individual at a time. I like that. And I never take my computer with me! I love the down time.
sometimes i am and others i’m not. guess it all depends on my mood at the particular time.
Had ham in my freezer for maybe 6 months, from group purchase of 1/4 pig. Today might have been the last time it is cool enough to use oven for long periods. Made it with honey mustard glaze with some clove implants. Delish.
Of course, had to do scalloped potatoes & asparagus as sides.
there are times on my nights off (sun and mon) that i’ve had more afk time than online time. i’m appreciating that afk time more and more.
Ah, is that where it came from — I thought it was from a Broadway show. That’s one of Steve McQueen’s movies that I missed.
It was the last day of class today, so we had class parties; now I’m unemployed for the summer.
It was also my bi-weekly massage day. I have a genius-caliber masseuse — going to see her is the corporeal equivalent of taking your car through a car wash.
Well, they have their own little world of weirdness. Some are more amusing commenters than others. I guess I never totally grew up….. but I grew up moreso than the snarkadoodles at TBogg. I do enjoy a good laugh, though…. and I must say that while Wonkette is much too overwhelming, I occasionally drop by for a laugh. Never have commented there. I do appreciate some sharp wit.
I can Unnerstan (geographically south of Russia in the Caucasus where U.S. regularly launches terriss attacks against Russia).
I haven’t grown up in many different ways. Tbogg isn’t one of them.
hahahahaha — my neighbor the former chief of police came over sun night and brought me some slices of a ham that he special orders. ohmystars it was so yummy! i had au grautin potatoes with it – my alltime fav ham combo – and fresh asparagus!!!
Good, but the Muppets’ version is funnier.
That’s why I refuse to get a laptop.
was a good movie — you should see it if ya happen to channel surf and find it playing on your teevee machine. do you have to wait to file unemployment or can you file right away?
I have my guilty pleasures. Thinking I won’t give them up tonight, though I could be provoked.
Gotta be one of the fave all time U.S. menus.
I thought Unnerstan was closer to Nepal. Will have to get my atlas out.
there is a part of me that wishes i still felt like a 17 year old inside….
Ron is home after his “stint” at the hospital. Make that three stints. He looks ten years younger. No wonder he has been so forkin’ grumby. His heart was compromised. He looks so good I want to jump his bones!
things are always better with muppets :) it was a great tv show
We have to go into school for a few days next week, so I can’t file until Thursday.
Haven’t watched TV since 2002, so my channel-surfing days are behind me, replaced by my web-surfing days.
Ah, young love!
that’s wonderful news senator!!! whoohoo!!! you must be soooo relieved to have him home again
Evening Suzzzz – firegods
Good news, mm~ Be gentle!
He has to lay low for a few weeks. But that is just fine with me.
God, those eyes! They are so blue!
hey ppd — how ya doing tonight?
The key questions about Unnerstan is how much O&G they have & whether Pipelinestan goes thru China, Russia, Pak, Iran, or Afghanistan, Azerbaijan works. I’m in the watching & waiting mode.
I’m good for another half hour, maybe.
Do we have a serious topic to discuss?
I feel like I’m always a step behind you…
Wait! Wait! It’s “oil and gas”! I got it! What do I win?
and, of course, what entity owns said pipelinestan….
Good thanks. Busy weekend – ACS Relay for Life tomorrow through Sunday – walking with friends who’s families have been touched by cancer. Event has raised over $250K and it kicks off Sat. at 10 am. How’s everything up north tonight?
Throw one out there and see what happens!
Let’s figure out a march & flag unification and do it together. Hopefully at the front of 100,000s of like mindeders.
not as hot today — highs in the 70′s vs 80′s… and its a wonderful 60 degrees outside at the moment. air had a gentle cool softness today :) looking forward to a better night’s sleep tonight with it being cooler
You win a a bitwood coin.
Hi eCAHN – not sure. Anything pressing in your valley tonight? Good to see you.
Russia-China-Iran-Pak, vs. U.S. proxies. Is there a choice?
Ahem, pro-imperial or anti-imperial.
It was 108 here today. I had to go the pharmacy. My ac is broken in my car.
When I got in it, the temp was 112. Fork me. I had my friend drive me.
We are moving to the Sierra’s. Much cooler there.
Which is, ummn, what exactly?
Hope you’re feeling well, Suzzzz.
We had a major family reunion on Monday in SF. Eight cousins plus Mom, who was queen for the day.
And don’t forget Imperial Margarine.
Nope, nothing doing here.
I remember great thoughts we left hanging a week or so ago.
Sometimes I am delusional.
jeebus mary mac — i remember driving in the valleythattimeforgot (as larue likes to call it) in the summer with no a/c. forking bru-tal! so glad you had a friend drive you
Is that Sacramento, Mary?
as she should be :) yay! was it held at someone’s house?
Damned if I know.
Here is the bitcoin site. It seems to be the latest leftie/rightie (yeppers sides unite on bitcoins) for avoiding standard, admittedly corrupt, standard monetary systems.
Friend says it sounds like a Ponzi scheme.
Wooden bitcoin is a reference to wooden nickels.
You should know a lot more than I do about bit currency. It’s the in-thing. /s
I’ve got grandkids to take to the farmers market in the a.m., so I’m going to head out. Hope everyone has a wonderful and restful weekend.
My cousins in SF hosted – a cousin was in town from the Midwest so we pulled together most of the N. California cousins in one place. Lots of photos & great food. Mom is still bouncing off the ceiling, and at 4’9″‘ that’s saying something.
g’nite dearie — dream colorful dreams
OK, now I got it…so a bitwood coin is like one of these, yes?
EDITED TO ADD: Oh hell, you already explained it…
All thanks to the power of email & texting over the previous two weeks. amazing!
i love you like a bitcoin
Boy, there’s songs about it already…
Makes me happy to know I’m alert to new stuff ahead of someone else. I’m so yesterday.
Plus there’s a pebble dropped into a pond effect with responses from all over the country to the photos.
are more reunions in the works as a result?
here ya go
Dang it, I just don’t have the touch tonight. Thanks, Suzanne.
And it makes me feel good to know that I can make someone else feel like a member of the vanguard. A mutual-appreciation society.
those utubes — they have a song for everything blue
Not like this one. I leave in about ten days on my trip, though. So much to cover before I go.
i forget — where are you headed?
Ain’t it the truth.
Am starting to fade, but will ask anyway: where in Israel?
Currently playing on presstv is Qaran competition. Judged by memorization, recitation, who knows what else.
Gotta be as exciting as a Spelling Bee.
No offense to either.
Third category is “Qaran Studies”
token’s letting me know that he can’t wait any longer. thanks for stopping by tonight so i could spend a wee bit of time with ya. hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons
Everywhere – it’s a tour of the entire country
Night Suzzz – have a great weekend
Nite Suzanne. Sleep well.
Never been, don’t know if I ever will, but it sounds fascinating.
Goodnight, Suzanne. Think I’ll pull the ripcord as well.
Want to go while I can still climb Masada massif
ZZZ to all. Be well.
Night, eCAHN – be well
If any pups are still up, I just discovered this hour and a half or more on youtube.
Bonnie Raitt, Lowell George, Frebo, John Hammond, from ’72. Stellar.
N that’s my howdy to all.
Good morning, pups. Today we have Blow, Nocera and Collins. In “Of Slippery Slopes” Mr. Blow says government monitoring of the communications of Americans is not a left-right thing. It is a right-wrong thing. Mr. Nocera tells us “How to Monetize Plagiarism:” So Jonah Lehrer has a book deal. This is a column about second chances. Earned or not. Ms. Collins, in “Intelligence For Dummies,” says all this news about how the government is keeping the records about our phone calls has raised some serious questions.
Here they are, and
here’s Krugman’s blog.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got your favorite omelet this morning. We had our first peaches and corn of the season yesterday. The peaches weren’t anything much to write home about, and will be improved with macerating in a bit of sugar, but the corn was wonderful. And there’s still a bit left for tonight… Have a great day.
