Behold the power of the neutered regulatory state

Oh the oppression of regulations industries are forced to endure in their determination to make a buck.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration most recently inspected the Texas fertilizer plant that exploded Wednesday night in 1985.

Thanks to a prolonged and sustained policy of not providing the funding necessary to hire inspectors or do inspections the United States is now officially Bhopalesque.

UPDATE: As many of you who are up and watching the news are aware, the suspects in the Boston Marathon explosion have apparently been cornered/arrested/half-killed/chased etc. and the whole thing will probably play out soon and we’ll know more about them by the end of this day — meanwhile behold the speculation.
