hey loohoo — how was your day?
The Look of Love
hey blue — how’s lala land tonight? love is in the air
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I had an awesome day with the munchkin, waking the Better Half and I up at 6:30 in the morn and he didn’t slowdown til his noon nap…! ;-)
Hiya, Suze! I was talking to myself downstairs, I guess. Wonder if Dearie went to bed already? And marymac?
Anway, I just checked my email and discovered that there were responses to some of the mad tweeting I did today.
I am most proud that Dan Froomkin re-tweeted a comment I made about a prize-winning series on the flame-retardant scam.
Second best is getting a response from Brad deLong! That was to a tweet of his about an Onion tweet re: Portman’s son needing health care (so Portman will change his mind), to which I responded, truthfully, that I’d already seen a serious tweet saying that, makiing the Onion’s task of satire harder.
Woo hoo!Plus IU won again today, and will be in the second round of the Big Ten tournament tomorrow! It’s been a good day.
How are you Suze? Thanks for the muppets, btw.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? jujube is enjoying california — her mom is gonna do a chucky cheese early bday party for her so her grandparents down there be a part of the celebration. looking forward to their return next week and then jujube’s 2nd bday on 4/9
Aloha, tj…! I saw ya on Crackbook earlier too…! ;-)
Oh, hey, bluewombat! Haven’t been here when you were lately; wanted to tell you last month (or so) that I saw an awesome review of your book in the Times Literary Supplement.
Or was it the London Review of Books? I get them mixed up all the time.
But a review in either one is good, right? They found your research impressive, and enjoyed the book. I was so impressed to read a review of a book by someone I “know.” At least a little bit. : )
hey tejan – wow what a good tweet day!!! glad you enjoyed the video — it sorta reminded me of miss piggy riffing off that famous scene in the movie when harry met sally but i think perhaps this segment was before that movie was shot.
whatcha got on tap for the weekend?
Oh, yeah, it’s been a busy day over there. I’ve been playing smartass on various people’s postings. : )
It’s soggy now, but, I did catch some vitamin D today…! ;-)
fun!
Well, I got my car detailed today, so things are cleaner down here.
And in political news, I wrote a letter to newly-minted Secretary of State Kerry asking him to free Djamel Ameziane, an Algerian who’s been a prisoner in Guantanamo since 2002 and who has been cleared for release(!) since 2008.
With Charles Aznavour, I’d bet it was before When Harry met Sally. But you never know; my memory plays tricks on “how-long-ago=was-that?” these days.
Probably nothing exciting for the weekend. Some work. Return my library books. Update my credit card info on umpteen billing sites …just got the new one for the next five years. Sheesh, what a pain that’s going to be.
How about you? Weather good enough to practice walking with Token?
Dang, her second bday is already coming up…! Time does fly, eh…? ;-)
Thank you very much, TR! Yes, it was the Times Literary Supplement. I was just ego-surfing one day and ran across it — my first international review. Thanks for the kind words — I had an absolute blast at the Book Salon.
l-o-v-e
sweet! another 63 degree day but only one or two sunbreaks today :( the cold is headed here from up et’s way and snow is forecast for the hills this weekend
snail mail or email letter?
That does sound like a good tweet day. Am something of a twitterholic myself. Might I ask your Twitter name? I’ll follow you.
we’ve not had a day of sun combined with a day where i’ve been up for it yet. but as the days get warmer and warmer, my joints and assorted aches and pains fade so i’m hopeful we can do more than the driveway or a walk to the corner soon.
babies are time speeder upper machines
Actual snail mail. I heard somewhere that individual letters carry more weight than e-mails or phone calls. It’s sitting on the little table in my living room, waiting to go out in tomorrow’s mail.
Ah,so you did see it! I wondered if you might have a clipping service for reviews…er, do clipping services still exist? I suppose google has put them out of business, too.
Anyway, glad you saw it. Hope the book is doing well.
Suze, I cannot believe jujube baby will be TWO! Already! Where does the time go?
I suppose this means, given my memory and time discontinuity, that Ctut’s munchkin must be about to start kindergarten by now!
i had heard that too — be interesting to see what kinda response ya get
Three guesses as to my name and the first two don’t count. : )
What’s yours?
*laughing* naw, the munchkin is younger than jujube
Oh, good. My brain’s not totally dysfunctional, then…tha t’s what I thought. But I couldn’t tell ya how old he is…had his first birthday, though, right?
So…(she cries triumphantly!) between one and two?!
@bantorture
Original, no?
yup — iirc he will be 2 in august — same month as tut’s bday
*heh* My queen-sized inflatable bed was a big hit with him…! Last nite, was my son-in-law’s bday and we offered to babysit…! I later saw pics on fb, of them at the beach, with a pallet fire roaring, and, with the Hilo FD showing up and then leaving…! Yee-Haw…! ;-)
Btw, they safely rolled home at about 2:30…!
Oh! Nothing relating to wombats or peanuts???
Didja guess mine yet?
“Dear Concerned American,
Thank you so much for writing to me on this issue of pressing concern.
As Secretary of State, I strive to find the proper balance between upholding our nation’s cherished liberties and being part of a corporatist machine that grinds people up and spits them out for its amusement…”
Something like that, I imagine.
Can I have a hint?
p.s.: I have a separate Twitter account for the pb book: @pbj06
*le sigh*
Congrats!
hint: what’s her screen name here?
hey pw — how’s mn tonight?
You heard rightly.
LOL!
C’mon, man, bluewombat! THIMK!!
Minnesota is just where it should be in mid-March: Chilly and snow-covered. A bunch of folks (including the sillier TV weathertwits) are whining about how cooooold it is compared to the past few years of record-breaking warmth, but those were also years of record-breaking dryness.
think
I’m in a silly mood tonight.
Sorry, bluewombat, my twitter name is the very same as my fdl name.
I love torturing people myself (this way)…but it’s cruel, and I shouldn’t have indulged. And besides, must get up early to call some detention centers trying to locate a prospective client so must head off to bed.
It’s been fun talking with LLNiters again.
Oh, and bluewombat, you have a new follower. : )
spring looks like its about ready to spring out here… i can’t wait
Mayonnaise? Bologna? Braunschweiger? Kielbasa? ;-) (Just kidding!)
other think
(I hope somebody is old enough to remember those joke signs, and what they were based on….)
G’night! Sleep tight and good luck!
@tejanarusa?
What do I win?
lol/
Blue? You still here? I was just teasing ya, ya know. I don’t really like to torture people…but teasing, on the other hand…up to a point.
g’nite tejan
I’m bracing myself for this Sunday nite, PW…!
“Chance for large drifts” Huh…? ;-)
Remember the first run of newspaper ads for the movie Westworld — “where nothing can possibly go worng”?
Not enough people got the joke, so the ads had to be retooled to “where nothing can possibly go wrong… go wrong… go wrong…”
Thanks; will reciprocate.
bzzzzztttt! Too late! Prize went *poof* at the buzzer, just as I’m about to do.
Good night, everybody.
(but you did get it right, bluewombat.)
the flying fickle finger of fate
Oh, gawd, PW, I actually saw that movie in the theater. and I do remember the ads, too. How old are we?
yes, poofing now! * *
g’nite for realsies tejan
How far up the side of the mountain are you, CTut?
Ah, I’m glad you were joking. Am very active on the issue of torture and hate to think that I’d have to picket you or something.
Sweet dreams, tj…!
*Poof* right back atcha!
(envisioning a white picket fence going up around tejanarusa)
g’nite pw
whoops — did i mis-read you pw?
About a hundred feet shy of it’s 13,803 ft peak…! ;-)
when are you up top again?
Ah, that’s good. Also Marvel Comics used to award (and perhaps still does) No-Prizes.
Sunday and Tuesday nites, Suz…! I’ll try to host most of Sunday’s lln, and if the weather really is that atrocious, I will be able to…! ;-)
I forgot about that meaning of ‘picket.’ And then of course, there’s Pickett.
what a great story!
sweet — you usually go out second shift iirc which is usually about the time lln is fading away for the nite
and pickett
Man, when I was a kid, lots of beach bonfires. They’re not allowed here now…but good grandpa for letting the kids get away for some fun.
In the Midnight Hour
No worries!
Marvel Comics was the stuff of my late childhood/early adolescence. I can still give you plot summaries of some Fantastic Fours, Spidermans, Sergeant Fury’s…
bonfire
Ah, so no naked beach lounging for you!
And now I think I will toddle off. G’nighters for realz!
one two three
g’nite for realsies pw
Compared to Wilson Pickett, this version of 1-2-3 is mayonnaise on white bread, but I like it anyway.
Having said that, am approaching my sell-by date and am gonna bail. Thanks for your primo hostessing.
*heh* It’s been too soggy for that, M’dear…! Sweet dreams…!
g’nite blue — thank you :)
Pleasant dreams, bw…!
i’m gonna bail too pups. don’t let my leaving cause you to do likewise, please
thank you for letting me spend some time with ya tonight and i hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons — featuring a little green somebody
g’nite all
Has anyone seen newtonusr?
Night all.
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Evening, firegods
Good morning, pups. Today we have just Nocera and Collins, since Mr. Blow is off. Mr. Nocera has found a new fossil fuel project to squeal with delight over. In “A Real Carbon Solution” he breathlessly tells us that a lot is riding on the Texas Clean Energy Project. Its technology could be a climate-saver. Yep, he’d rather see coal gasification and the Keystone pipeline than a real push for clean energy… In “The Dread That Is Ted” Ms. Collins says that after Senator Ted Cruz gave an extensive lecture to Senator Dianne Feinstein this week, I think we have a candidate for the senator who could patronize a doorknob.
Here they are, and
here’s Krugman’s blog.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got your favorite omelet for breakfast. I’m going to try an experiment today. I just got a sack of King Arthur Flour’s white whole wheat flour, which is a whole wheat flour made from a lighter wheat. I’m going to do a loaf of the white bread that we like (James Beard’s basic white bread recipe) and sub in half of the white whole wheat flour. Since I’ve started baking again I’ve found that the stores here stock King Arthur Flour and I’ll no longer buy anything else. Employee-owned company, with spectacular products. Fingers crossed this will be a successful experiment… Have a great day.
