Clara Rockmore (playing the theremin) — The Swan (Le Cygne) from The Carnival of the Animals.
What’s on your mind?
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I just got home from our local Sierra Club meeting…! ;-)
happy wednesday pups!
aloha tut — how was your meeting?
Hi, Suzanne. On my mind tonight are swans.
Thanks for mentioning them.
hey ncbb — so glad you liked it. how was your day?
Hey all. I’ve got time to do my job search now… 2 more months on payroll but I can’t do any more work for my current employer. (RIF today).
A whole lot of action as our annual Legislative Session comes to it’s frenzied final days…! Especially, with a lot of ‘Gut and Replace’ action happening in the last mad dash…!
My very cursory searching so far makes it clear it is a good job market for my skill set right now.
fuck fuck and fuck. i’m so sorry wmd
so not as bad then?
That bites, wmd…! Best of luck in finding further employment shortly…!
Nah, I’ve been dissatisfied with work environment for some time. This just gives me more motivation to get something better.
i’ll still keep my fingers and toes crossed for ya dood
Never heard of a theremin before. That is awesome.
Hello all. Headed for bed soon, but wanted to stop by.
Howz you and the Pacific NW, Suz?
My hope is offer within 4 weeks, then take 2 weeks vacation, start new work… still get pay for additional weeks from current employer through end of WARN period… See if I can’t get a pay increase as well. Market does look good from my half assed search to date (I’ve carped about not having time to look here, now I have the time). The outplacement folks also said it was a good market for technical people right now.
hey gw — click on the wiki link in the word theremin in the post — there’s a lotta info about it. moog used the concept to make his moog synthesizer.
how’s your wrist?
weather dood says that after this next go round of rain tonight, that we may very well hit 60 friday. of course, more rain will come in after that but …. 60!!!
i sure hope that is how it goes dood
clara and leon theremin (the inventor)
3 good prospective jobs found today…
sweet! i guess my reaction was based on your last go round… that was a real bitch
I already had gone to wiki. Wasn’t sure it wasn’t a hidden violin and the whole thing was a hoax. Habanera’s mesmerizing!
The wrist, when it doesn’t feel like a cement block, feels like tiny little cement pieces knocking against each other. I’m assuming all the chocolate I’m eating will certainly help. It will, won’t it?
And howz the leg? Are you getting around? Or getting round?
I do expect the multiple hour interview stuff again, but feel like I’m still primed for that from the 40 odd times I did it in 2010. I know the drill and feel I’ve got the skills for this process.
my knee feels sorta like your wrist… but so far so good *knocking on wood* it also feels like it is more stable now. my get around hasn’t but now that the weather is improving, i hope to be able to be doing more walks and build up my stamina. being a slug for the past year certainly has taken its tole.
and the market is better for tech people…. i’m hoping it is a much faster go round this time
As bad as it is, the economy has improved. My demographic is part of the blue line in this graph… and my particular skills seem to be in high demand.
sweet… and since you knew it was coming, you’ve been getting ready for it
*heh* Nice one, gw…! ;-)
Yup. I started studying for UA at Thanksgiving.
Song of Grusia
per wiki her sister accompanied her many many times on piano… i’m guessing this is the sister – the utube more info doesn’t say
over the rainbow
And now for some jukebox fodder.
That’s good news. I hope you get the vacation you want.
nice choice dood *laughing*
Yes, I’d guess that’s her sister. On one of the youtubes, a man introduced Clara as his aunt and the one playing on this video as his mother.
sweet… i was surprised at how many theremin videos there are on the utube
On this youtube.
Also includes Robert Moog.
most excellent! thanks gw
*heh* Bruddah Iz and his Uke is still da bestest version…! ;-)
Well I don’t really like Johnny Paycheck, which would have been an obvious choice… Now this is also fitting.
well there is that
My day was lovely and peaceful.
I hope everyone’s day was at least that good.
Thanks for asking.
And maybe this as well.
i love it when my days are like that :) since i’ve been retired, i gotta admit i have more lovely and peaceful days than i did back when i was on the job
no way…. was only a matter of when, not if
OK, then this…
i hate myself for linking this
i’m bugging out early tonight peeps. thanks for letting me hang out with you tonight
*heh* Disco still rulz…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Self-employed is good too.
Most stressful working conditions–high responsiblity, low autonomy and low credit for success.
Best wishes for a great new direction.
I’m getting my resume in on a couple of positions today. Start outplacement services next week and I hope to get interviews next week as well.
I think I probably will be getting a new dress shirt or two for interviews, plus get a haircut/beard trim (it’s been over 2 years).
