Gary Clark Jr. — Bright Lights, at Crossroads Guitar Festival 2010.
What’s on your mind?
happy tuesday pups!
Hey Suz. Where is this?
hey loohoo — how’s socal tonight? crossroads is the guitar festival that eric clapton puts every now and then — per its wiki page, this was in chicago
don’t owe you a thing
Good evening all
hey bev — how’s dc tonight?
cold, had sleet this morning, light rain. How is the other coast?
I cried, listening to this, three times.
yuck. our storm wasn’t — had a pretty afternoon with some thunderclouds but no storm here. token and i spent part of the afternoon fussing with the potted plants on the front porch, cleaning up the winter die off.
of course, it could all be for naught — weather dood is saying we could maybe get snow down on the valley floor fri night but i’m not a believer *knocking on wood*
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight?
catfish — at the white house
Sitting here working – listening to this, seems appropriate
bev — i’m really looking forward to sunday’s book salon with the onion about their book about the vice… and hosted by watertiger — woohoo. that onion book is a forking hoot!!! of course, i’m also looking forward to sat’s rosa parks book hosted by peterr.
you’ve got two completely different salons this weekend… what a great mix up — tis the kinda thing bill graham wudda put together back in the filmore days
hope you are not up late enough for this to be appropriate
nor a sunrise
Thanks. I’m lucky to get the quality of authors who want to be with us at FDL. They select the dates for the salons. Saturday’s book by Jeanne Theoharis is outstanding about Rosa Parks – what a woman and it is her 100th anniversary this year (and the 50th for the March on Washinging/MLK). I expect a lot of fun on Sunday with The Onion book, I was looking at a different Onion book – but this came along.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Great clip…!
Hope not – still have seven sets of emails to get out, and two different social medias to send out and one other email to the editors.
you’ve got a good mix of politics, food, humor, and scifi ahead for us. i’m amazed at the variety of books you find.
aloha tut — glad ya liked it. i’ve linked to some of his other good stuff up thread — including when he appeared at the white house
how’s paradise tonight? still dank and dark?
Dayam, you’re a busy Gal…! ;-)
Actually had about an hour and a half reprieve of Sunshine, totally made my day…! ;-)
yay! token and i appreciated the sunshine this afternoon. i fussed over my potted plants on the porch, trimming off any winterkill and rearranging the pots. token supervised from his position in the sun on the driveway.
A lot of the books are recommendations from our readers / community. I try to get the books, topics, that are requested – and throw in some current books too. Thanks to everyone for making the requests!
CT! Hi, how have you been? Busy?, keeps me off the streets (grin)
i’m still reading the onion’s joe biden book — whatta forking hoot!!! i can hear him saying the words on the page *laughing* and knowing he didn’t write it makes it even funnier.
I’m glad you like it – good omen for Sunday’s salon. (I’m always a bit anxious until the salon is over, even after 580+ book salons).
things are changing
Hola all you LLNers. Thanks for the tune Suz.
Hi Suz and llners, I keep falling asleep early, just woke up from a nap. We have had some nice sun a couple of days here, but then it is windy and bitter.
I am back on the warpath, getting tired of the 1% war on all of us.
CT – are you getting some rain out there? Heard there were storms this week.
ohmystars have you had that many? i guess you have… two a week for how many years? i still get nervous — worry that my song selection is gonna be a flop or that the pups are bored and want something different or that i’m in a rut etc.
i’ll bet you have had less ‘flops’ than i have *laughing*
…even after 580+ book salons…
Wow, there’s been that many…?
hey oldnslow — how ya been?
hey bg — so you had a false spring too?
It’s been pretty much non-stop here on the Big Isle for the past week and even over most of this month, Bev…! We’re under strong wind and surf advisories right now…!
OK! So nice to get a chance to be here with y’all live.
How about the best jazz/blues guy you never heard of.
yes, how time flies. (add another 200+ movie night salons too)
Well, I can’t say we had much of a winter yet, though we did have some cold here and there. I am spoiled by the weather, I guess.
The cranes are flying over right on schedule this week. Always right around Valentine’s Day/mid-Feb. they come in droves. I have seen some big Vs of them in the sky every day lately.
I noticed tulips and daffodils tipping up in the garden today. It has been the driest winter in a long time this year. The drought here is really pressing.
dood…. i heart robben… have featured him several times up top. have ya seen this one with robben and miles?
we sure could use that rain here, so dry, no real storms or snow this year. Lost one leyland cypress in the hedge already this winter.
i’ve got spring bulbs up between an inch and 3 inches worth so far.. have dafs, hyacinths, dafs and some tulips in various pots on the front porch. they obviously don’t know its not spring yet — hasn’t felt much like winter other than that one snowstorm new years.
LOL – I’ve had a few salons that did not perform as expected, but overall I can’t complain. You pick great songs!!
i realize that i can’t please everyone all the time and try to feature a variety of musical stuff – i know i tend to be a bit heavy on the blues side of things but it is the middle of the night depending on where ya are :)
I watered once recently, but I am sure the yard is going to be sad this year. I was watching for some bulbs out there, and I think this is a little later than usual. My neighbor’s daffodils always bloom a couple of weeks before mine, I think because they must get heat from the walls of his house since they are planted close to the building over there. I guess it is time to look for more action in the gardens now since it seems to have started to be the season. But you are ahead of me for sure.
I had not seen/heard that. Thanks! Stage full of great musicians.
its traditionally not safe to plant until mother’s day up here. i’m thinking that may not be the case this year… but then again, we could have the entire month of march and april be cold gry and wet like it was a couple years ago…
thought you would enjoy it :) he’s gotta lotta stuff on the utubes to enjoy – i swear those utubes are a forking time machine
one of my fav robben ford songs
John Daversa Progressive Big Band in the Studio Recording “Junk Wagon” Jazzy-Big Band sound
We can have frost til mid to late April. It is about time to sprout tomatoes indoors maybe. I have been thinking of starting some lettuce.
oooh i’ll have to check them out…. its been a while since i’ve featured some jazz or big band
The utubes is my favorite interweb.
Gotta try and conquer this fargin insomnia. Nice to have been with the LLN crew. Thanks Suz.
my indoor plants barely survived… well two outta three aint bad. this place gets plenty of light in the summer but its dark in the winter.
token’s looking a little damp around the eyes… guess i had better take him out to save a blade of grass
thank you for hanging out here tonight.
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
nighters, Suz, sweet dreams.
