downton abbey is cute, a bit witty, and i love the clothes.

but i find it fascinating that we as murkins lurv us some aristocrats and they servants downstairs. um, didn’t we fight, like, a war or something over our version of that?

as a professionally trained philologist, i do find it interesting, the way the euros invented class-via-accent. in the Olde Days the vast majority of euros were pale people, who all looked more or less the same. it was the number of calories they consumed that separated them, mostly.

so i practice my British Accents (still working on the Welsh, damn that’s hard) all the time, watching Brit TV on netflix. who here speaks Cockney? dayum, that’s hard to understand. or Manchester.

Oh, it’s alright. I spent yesterday afternoon precinct walking for a school board candidate who wants to fight the corporatizers/privatizers and who may actually have a shot at winning (although maybe they just tell us that to keep us walking precincts).

Today was usual routine Sunday errands.

Tomorrow is day off for Prez Day. On MLK Day, I try to re-read his Letter from the Birmingham Jail. Maybe tomorrow, will read Gettysburg Address and Washington’s Farewell to His Troops or something.

I think the longest word in the world is Welsh. It’s a place name, something like Llanfairpgogerywich…. and it just keeps going, like pi.

i like the homosexual character. he’s nice and evil, like ‘mos are generally made out to be on TV.

what they need is a good Indian prince in the mix. they had those back then, really! who went to Eton and everything! the whiteness of the show is glow in the dark. but the truth is in the “the sun never sets on…” years, the Empire was pretty diverse.

i want to make a “Battle” rap video for a friend of mine, who just had brain surgery and could use some humor.

yall know the concept. X vs Y; two characters who are similar in stature but dissimilar in nature. “darth vader vs hitler” or “adam vs eve” rapping insults at each other, etc.

any ideas?

the Adam and Eve one that exists on youtube has the best line. Eve: “You One Pump Chump, you can drop the fig leaf, and just use a pine needle.” hahahahaha.

a beloved friend of mine with whom i blogged for a minute back in the old days of the bush nightmare, a PhD/MD professor of everything living in DC when i did, gave up blogging. he adopted a beautiful child with learning disabilities, and decided to stop wasting time with people like us, and spend more time taking care of her. he is very Noble. i miss him, tho. he was so erudite and funny and the Olde Days of Blogging were so wonderful. 1000 comments at Big Blue and when GOS was actually activist and important. sigh.

i once had sex in an elevator in front of Kos. that is not a lie.

Now all I need to figure out is what Big Blue is and if GOS is somehow a reference to Daily Kos and I’ll be fine.

I’ve never had sex in an elevator, although I did have sex in the Wisconsin Arboretum back when I wasn’t averse to doing things like that and when my exploits were more vivid than they are these days.

I remember when Markos did have a purpose…! I left Dkos early on for the Next Hurrah and FDL, and never looked back…! ;-)

I bailed when he wrote “Fuck Ralph Nader and fuck anyone who voted for him.”

I voted for Obama in ’08 Calif. primary. Then he did his Linda-Blair-spin-his-head-around thing on retroactive immunity for the telephone companies for helping the NSA do the illegal wiretapping on all of us that it still does to this day (although, courtesy of Congress, it’s now legal) and I voted for Nader in the general.

I met Mr. Moulitsas at a conference once and he’s pleasant enough in person. But he and his tribe are “The Democratic Party, Right or Wrong” and they can’t see the essentially corporatist nature of the Dems.
