I’ll have to catch a replay, Stewart is not on my one channel availability, TV.
Very light snow swirling since sunset, calm just about freezing on the temp scale. Got a half hour walk in today, crunching through rain reduced 3-4 inch snow cover.
Lots of wildlife in the yard, squirrels, turkeys deer and several rabbits, threw some food scraps out and my neighborhood crows were over to get it in less than ten minutes.
Writing and composition chores today. Homemade soup and a rustic bakery bread, slice or two of a good locally produced muenster made my dining fare. Who could ask for more?
And here’s interesting: Oxnard doesn’t really have any good restaurants even though it’s a town of 200,000 or so. But I work up in Santa Maria frequently and there are at least 5 really outstanding steakhouses available. Makes the drive up there and the overnight well worth it!
hell no! why would i wanna be in a multi-story floating hotel filled with 7,000 strangers and designed to snag every penny possible outta every one of them.
Cheney on Rose has some kind of lapel pin American flag with a bloody bullet hole represented on it, totally strange, still promoting how we are militarily not tough enough, Clinton failed as SoS, too many AQ running around for his liking, still, oh my, not enough money may be spent in the future on military contractors, who’d have guessed? Ha! (click)
I so agree! I cannot believe that Carnival couldn’t send out a fleet of boats to bring those poor people home. I was watching the news once a number of years ago when a cruise ship headed to Greece caught on fire….. fortunately it made it to shore with no serious problems. My daughter was on that ship. I didn’t know it at the time, but I suspected.
I’m fine Dearie and I hope you are the same. Work is still slow, I’m considering getting into politics, I couldn’t do worse than those in WI now. Might be the only potential employment available where one would not immediately be denied with age discrimination. ;-)
Healthy throughout the winter for both of us here. With the direct connection to the school, “bugs,” with my teen, I consider that fortunate.
I really don’t know. The Outback Steakhouse here is completely full all the time…and it isn’t cheap…and it also isn’t very good. I’m always amazed by the clientele in the restaurants in Santa Maria….. old white ranchers and such, and military from Vandenberg AFB, and vintners from the hills and such. It is amazing to see the number of people who can afford to frequent the fabulous steakhouses. Santa Maria is famous for its barbeque and meat of all kinds. Very western/ranchery.
LLN has an author, and now we might have a politician…. wow. You would be so good for your district. Give us a heads up; I’ll donate! I am proud to have supported Tester in Montana, Sherrod Brown in Ohio, and a few others. I am all about the Big Picture!
From mid-80′s crisis-line phone operator volunteer training, we were told April is the worst for self-destructive tendencies.
While I remember it, spocko’s piece was not on the radio show he linked to the other night. It was an interesting show, though and hoped to thank him for the link.
Edit: I don’t know that I would like it on an island with white beaches, as I have never been there. Let me see, lobster fishing, sun and best I’ve heard is that the people are the warmest, friendliest, that anyone could ever hope to meet.
i’ve been getting to the mailbox… just hasn’t been sunny so i can walk to the corner :( today was the first non-drippy day in a while – hopefully it continues to be non-drippy and i’ll feel that it is safe to try walking to the far corner.
Sorry Dearie, was getting my tea, I’ll be sure to look you up if I decide to run for office a job that still provides health insurance bennies.
Actually I put in a couple of classified ads in the local shopper, advertising some work skills with a phone number today. Seasonal residents will begin visiting on the weekends, never know who might want a couple things taken care of this year. I have instructed the teen to go online to at least tell me she found two summer jobs she might consider applying for, this week.
i’ve started my spring cleaning — have hired a local woman to come by and help clean the things i can’t do anymore — lardy she’s a hard and fast worker and it feels good to have clean windows etc again.
It’s an interesting time, isn’t it. I’d planned to be comfortably retired but find myself working as often as possible! As long as my twin brother doesn’t retire, I know I’ll be able to help him by taking on some of the load he’s carrying. He gets a break; I make some money. It works.
Clean is nice, I need to clean before a domestic worker would accept employment here. :0) Not a dirty place, now, just too many piles of books, etc, that need to be let go of. Working at that all winter. Two of four rooms significantly better than a few months ago.
i started her off one room at a time. the house wasn’t in that horribly bad shape but it sure needed a good scrub down. now the bath and kitchen are sparkling, she tackled the windows this week. oy, they were worse that i had thought.
g’evening pups. how ya’ll doing tonight?
“Once” — we are watching and singing.
Something is amiss as I can actually listen to dick Cheney on Charlie Rose, whereas I have been unable to listen to any of the SOTU.
Suzanne, love the song, talk about a heart that should be burning in hell!
hey ce –how’s cleveland tonight?
hey nonq — did you see jon stewart ripping cheney last night? ohmystars — it was so good.
how’s wi tonight?
Fine, MrCE and I are watching our favorite movie about love. We will be married for 38 years on Feb. 15.
It was awesome!
celebrating your love two days in a row! how wonderful ce — ya’ll got any plans?
so good to hear the penguin voice again
Happy Anniversary, CE and MrCE!
hey dearie — how was your day today?
No, really just being together is fine. We work so hard, and so much at night, it is a holiday just to spend a weekend together in our jammies.

Sunny on the south central coast….. and a couple of recent drives up the coast gifted me with gorgeous views of the Pacific. All is well.
spending a weekend in your jammies sounds like the idea way to celebrate ce :)
Thanks! I can’t believe it has been so many years. We had to do the math to be sure just now!
its online — still cheney after all these years
wow… sounds so beautiful (and yummy)
And we are so good at this…
winter days along the coast can be some of the best days of the year… i miss winters at the coast – both the beauty and the storms
Hey, friend, you are doing it right!
I wish that I was there!
i have a confession to make
i have been having *shrudder* tropical thoughts
OMG: We should all meet in Hawaii!
NOT thoughts of Carnival tours I hope …
Oh, I LOVE Hawai’i.
alas, the closest my budget is gonna let me get to hawaii is the town of aloha, oregon…
And here’s interesting: Oxnard doesn’t really have any good restaurants even though it’s a town of 200,000 or so. But I work up in Santa Maria frequently and there are at least 5 really outstanding steakhouses available. Makes the drive up there and the overnight well worth it!

now a smaller yacht… or a houseboat
why don’t they dearie? that’s very unusual. does the nard consider itself a bedroom community or something?
Thank you, Suz, I’ll check it out.

didn’t dorner send andersen cooper some sort of commemorative coin with bullet holes in it? are bullet holes lapel pins the new flag pin?
i refuse to believe there was not a port closer to mexico than alabama? that is total fucking bullshit to tow the ship all the way there
Cheney is a stain on our history.

Wouldn’t know about that, but it is a strange anomaly on that pin.
hey ncbb — how ya doing tonight?
I have a standing invite for a month long visit to a home in the Bahamas, maybe after someone is finished with HS.

*sigh* that must be wonderful having that to think about during these dark feb days. i swear, feb is the worst month
No argument here. He’s talking about so many nations don’t fear us enough, just said he likes Rubio a lot, (this is actually entertaining).
I guess congrats are in order for a long stable marriage. The best to you both.

So, Suzanne, have you had a chance to walk down to the mailbox….. and how’s that going?

Good night dearie, work is preferable to retirement in my mind. You have a nice situation there it seems. Take care of yourself.
I’m out too Suz, a pleasure to join you, thanks.
next week are floors and she is gonna help me tackle some of the boxes that still need unpacking.
g’nite nonq
g’nite all.. thank you for letting me hang out here with ya.
