I almost cry when I think what it was like inside that truck when the scared cops opened up. They were intent on execution, and that makes me wonder…these women were trying to do a good job and not disturb their customers and the frightened cops cared not a lick for anyone but themselves……very troubling and sad…ty

So I just re-listened to myself on the Rick Smith radio show last night and I was pretty good! I thought I was making incomplete thoughts, but I really wasn’t. When I’m on the radio I make it a point to talk slower than I normally do because I’ve been told it’ hard to follow if I talk too fast.

I made several points that I wanted and even tied my remarks to the theme of the night (The postal system and the suggested stoppage of Saturday service.)

I’ve been talking to people and thinking about this. I’d like your thoughts.
LLN is always great to help me clarify stuff.
I have a couple of goals.
1)Point out that even the craziest right wing media outlets have a no-firearms policy. The reason is because even they aren’t irresponsible when it comes to guns in the workplace.
2) More guns do not mean safer. If the RW really believe they did they would allow and Encourage guns in the work place.
3) If guns ARE allowed they are with people who are trained security guards. “regular” people can’t bring in guns.
4) If organizations do NOT want to release their policies they will say it is because liberals will come and shoot them if they know they are in a ‘gun free zone.” My response to that is. I”m not talking about outsiders, I’m talking about employees and your contractors. Are welcome to have armed guards wherever you want, what are you policies toward your own people? What does that say about 1) your people 2) you on air views vs your actions?
5) I’m working on the insurance angle as wall as the work place safety angle. So If I find out they do NOT have a policy of no-firearms then I want to inform the insurance carrier. The insurance industry is going to start making noise about making people who have guns get liability insurance.
I would think that a firm that welcome guns into their offices might have a different premium that they pay.

The RW (like the arms merchants) make money by reving up fear and paranoia. They also have people in the organization who know that it is bullshit to entertain the rubes, when they are taking seriously they don’t believe crazy stuff. They are business men.

It’s one thing to point out hypocrisy. That’s standard practice. It’s another thing when the hypocrisy costs you money or you have to change your position on an issue. I’d like to force insurance companies to weigh in on the issue.

The dems just need to hold on strongly for once. Insurance for a gun makes as much sense as insurance for a car. They need to get real.

It’s OK — had a great Saturday night doing my laundry.

Logged several hours of precinct walking for a school board candidate in East Los Angeles this afternoon. He’s basically an FDL type trying to dislodge the corporatist president of the School Board. An uphill fight, but a worthwhile one.

Prior to this campaign, I’d never done precinct walking — I have the kind of face that hates to have doors slammed in it, which is what I thought would happen, but hasn’t. Plus you get to see different communities up close and personal, meeting people you never would otherwise. It’s interesting, and even a little bit fun.

The fix is in. You can’t trust anyone these days.

Suzanne, would it be out of line to mention another blog where I’ve been doing some writing? A brand new start-up, as it were?
