Booker T. & the M.G.’s — Time Is Tight, on The Midnight Special, July 9, 1976.
What’s on your mind?
hey dave — how ya been?
It’s been a rough winter. Today was the first day in almost two months that it was both above freezing and we had sunlight. We got smacked bad by the cold for a long time.
yikes! how’s your snow levels? am i correct in remembering you talking about how ya needed snow?
Whole Lotta Helter Skelter
I love the song…..but, wow, 32 million hits? That’s something.
tis a good mashup
We have a little, not enough. It actually rained for 24 hours straight a few days back, then dropped to zero. I have a few inches in the driveway, maybe a foot under the trees. Anywhere from powder to corn snow depending on sun. I managed to high center the truck in the driveway a couple of weeks ago – four inches except for two feet in one spot frozen solid enough to walk on without leaving footprints.
Some of those 32 million hits are somebody besides me!
hey dearie — sorry, i was distracted and didn’t properly great ya — how’s the coast tonight?
how did ya get the truck free?
Shoveled for an hour. Broke the shovel handle prying that frozen crap. Then the neighbor (who is actually supposed to clear that part) came by and felt guilty and fetched his tractor. He pushed me off the pedestal and cleared it out. Probably saved me another two hours of shoveling. To get through all of 20 feet. The rest of the driveway was fine.
I worked up in Santa Maria for a couple of days. Lovely. If anyone is ever up there, the Far West Tavern has moved to Orcutt and the food is delicious! Good to be back on the coast. Looking forward to weather in the 70s tomorrow.
thank goodness he came by and helped.
i got up to 47 today — should be warmer tomorrow through the weekend as the skies clear. no more rain forecast until late tues — will be good to see the sun again
makes me feel mellow
Pretty sure I haven’t posted that one here…
i remember that one
I’m so predictable.
i worry about being predictable — esp here.
Okay, ya wanna bitch about the weather. Yesterday I was wearing a tank top, tonight it’s 39.
I know, you’re all weeping crocodile tears for me, but still, I do live in the subtropics.
hey tuez — those temp swings can be brutal… are ya bundled up tonight?
If it were a steaming 39 I would be wearing a tank top.
Yes, I am bundled. I’m sporting my lavender and white tiger striped fleece pants and a purple sweat shirt. I’m too sexy by far :)
You’d also probably have the heat on, I don’t. It’s Florida after all and I refuse to pay to heat the house unless it gets below 60 in the house.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I’m a happy camper tonite…! I just got home from this week’s Occupy Hilo GA, and, had spent most of the day with the munchkin…! ;-)
Oh, I meant 39 in the house. :)
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonigh?
I was gonna say I was too sexy for my body but then I remembered the irradiated devil tit and my complete lack of anything that resembles an ab, even though I wear single digits.
i’ve avoided being naked around mirrors since i was in my 30′s…. learned to just walk past it when headed for the shower. if i can’t see the cellulite it does not exist
Not too shabby, mostly cloudy, but, no rain yet…! We had an Occupier from the Bay Area show up at our GA, we all compared notes on her experiences, and what we’ve been through…! ;-)
no rain is good. wow, that musta been fun dood. was she on vacation and decided to stop by the local ga?
You’re too funny.
Try being 51 and still wearing junior sizes.
Her boyfriend lives here in Hilo and she looked up us on the web and popped in…! Totally kewl…! ;-)
I’m really glad Occupy is still around. It needs to heat up again.
tis the sad truth tuez. at this point i think that trying on a bathing suit in a dressing room would not be good for my health — and i’m pretty sure all that fluorescent light reflecting off my glow in the dark skin would cause vision problems
way forking kewl dood!!!
Aloha, tuez…! I’d like to see it heat up again, but the sheer apathy of the Masses is daunting…! But, the Irate Minority still soldiers on…! ;-)
fluorescent light makes me look green. Hate the things.
ya would think the store would want proper lighting so the customers look good in their clothing and would buy more but nooooooo they put in that horrible lighting with those nasty mirrors that make everything look bad from every angle.
I know there is a lot of apathy but I wonder to what extent fear is holding back some. In my household, fear held back my husband but I was like WTF. I feel imprisoned either way.
Here’s a little something we’d put together recently… Dump HELCO: The Malama Bomb
the powers that be want fear to hold us back
I know. It’s that inverted totalitarian thing.
btw pups.. this sunday’s book salon is one that was requested by scarecrow before he passed.
i’m gonna make sure i’m there. one last chance to learn from him via his recommendation of who stole the america dream
The good news, the spousal unit has been gainfully employed at a permanent position for a few days over 90 days.
woohoo! does that mean he’s off probation and is now a permanent employee?
I really miss Scarecrow and Dday’s writing. Kevin is flying up the bell curve, but he still needs time. DSW hits all the high notes but doesn’t delve deep enough.
That said FDL still covers all the news better than anyone.
What we’re doing here in the Isles, is testifying at our County Councils, the State Legislature, and, prodding all our various Critters, to produce tangible results…! ;-)
me too…. dsw had some mighty big shoes to fill — the dayen brothers set the bar mighty high
No Doubt, tuez…!
be sure to check out the book salon bev has scheduled for 2/24
i’m just saying…
Good evening, Suz and fellow lln pups! Late to the party, just woke up from the couch.
ooooooh there’s a downton abbey cookbook
hey past — how’s utah tonight?
Oh that one should be delicious.
With that,I’m going to bed.
Thawing out a little today, actually got above freezing. snowstorms Sunday and Tuesday, which meant driving to work on snow-packed roads Monday and yesterday.
snow pack is better than ice for sure
G’nite, tuezday, hope it warms back up for ya.
Sweet dreams, tuez…!
tis about time for me to head out too pups. thank you for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Sweet dreams, Suz!
Gonna turn in too, g’nite everyone. Hope to see you at Friday lln!
