About Firedoglake
Suz! I can’t stay, but had to catch the first reply and say hello!
shadow! how ya been? so good to see your fonts again
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…!
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
I’ve been okay, love my new job to death. :-) Things are much improved in the Shadowstalker house. We need video of your granddaughter, though!
jules saying love you daddy
and
jules the flying bee
both of these are from this month shadow
Mighty blustery indeed…! In fact the winds were so gusty there wasn’t a cloud to be seen all day, but, dayam those blasts are frigid…! Brrr…!
not a hint of wind… meaning yet another night of freezings fog. pea soup kinda freezing fog. gonna be this way until maybe tue when the rain is forecast. this temperature inversion has lasted a long time and is keeping the cold down here in the valleys. tis warmer in the mts than it is down here… much warmer
i wonder if fred flintstone got his name from elmer fuddstone
So, Suze, are you home safe?
hey tejan — how’s tx tonight? i yam home — left jen’s around 1130 – it was sunny there but got foggy as i got close to the west hills. 33 degrees at 1130 and i could still see frost on the road in areas. got onto highway 30 and the fog was thick but the road was drier :) token was happy to see me. he had spent the night with my neighbors and was spoiled rotten
I’m totally bummed that the audio didn’t quite work out for Col. Wright’s lecture…!
fork…. are you still gonna write it up?
That was to be the main basis of my post, and, I still can’t take notes…! ;-)
would headphones help?
I’m actually surprised that the audio came out as crappy as it did, since the 250 seat auditorium did amplify her voice…!
sounds like ya needed to be hooked up to one of her mics at the podium
Glad you’re home safe and sound.
Texas is fine – warmish today–didn’t reach 70 degrees, but upper 60′s. Sunny and pleasant with a little chill until mid-afternoon. I fially got outta the house…ufortunately, the allergens are high, and I came home with more congestion and coughing. Still deafish in one ear. Sigh.
Not being able to hear really is isolating. Had shopping to do, and could barely hear the cashiers. Kept having to ask them to repeat. What fun.
I’ve missed three concerts now ’cause I can’t hear.
Oops, sorry for whining. I’m not really miserable, just moderate aggravation. At least I don’t have the flu, right?
have you see the doc about your ear?
Good evening, Suz and lln pups.
hey past — how’s your patch of utah tonight?
Yes, twice. Putting antibiotic drops in this week. May yet have to go back next week. Sigh.
i hope it clears soon…. i’ve had similar and it totally sucks. i h-a-t-e that feeling of the stopped up ear
Cold, but sunny, got up to 22 or so today. But still warmer at least than the beginning of the week.
So many people have the flu, I can’t really complain. But I haven’t been very useful this week. Getting a few tiny things accomplished each day has felt like a big achievement, and then I’d need to rest.
This is sadly, not unusual at this time of year because of the cedar allergy. It causes sinusitis, or bronchitis, or now, ear infections. Brain fogs up, slows down, fatigue, etc. Sometimes you actually have an elevated temp, which is why it’s known around here as “cedar fever.”
Oh well. I should just hush up, watch Bugs in his ‘toon, and head off to bed. ;)
local weather dood here said earlier in the week you guys have had a very cold january…
i’m glad you don’t have the flu. steph used to get a similar cedar reaction – hers would go into a sinus infection and then broncitus.
i hope you enjoy the toon and feel better soon hon
Hah. There’s pastfedup – “it got up to 22 or so today.” 50-ish here, and I’m wrapped up bathrobe plus shawl. One becomes a wuss when it never gets really cold.
Did y’all see Dr. Dick’s FB posting,of split screen: 50 degrees in San Diego (folks muffled up in hoods and gloves and coats) and 50 degrees in Montana (folks in shorts and t-shirts picnicking in a meadow)
Made me think of TBogg’s bassets scrunching under the covers when it’s “cold” in San Diego.
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Suzanne and Brother CTuttle:
Yo comrads, how’s life in the fast lane? You been spendin’ time up on yer mountain there CT? How’s the grandbaby Sister Suzie…not a baby anymore is she? This place is pretty staid…must not be an election goin on anywhere. What’s up with all the crickets chirpin’ around the LLN FDL?
KEEP THE FAITH BUT PASS THE AMMUNITION…THEY’RE COMIN TA TAKE YER GUNS, DON’TCHA KNOW??!!!
Coldest year since 2007 if I remember right. I had to fly to Moab Monday morning to visit a jobsite, left Salt lake at 7am. It was -2 in Moab when we arrived at 8am. Moab’s been colder than Salt Lake all winter, which is also unusual.
Sounds like my usual. Sinus first, chest after.
It’s mixing it up a bit this year.
Thanks for the kind words. I’d chat more but it all seems to come out as a whiiiine. ; )
hey norske — how ya been comrade? jules is 20 months — linked her most recent videos upthread. you know how it goes at the lake — the tide rises and falls….
…What’s up with all the crickets chirpin’ around the LLN FDL?
*heh* Ya gotta take the good with the bad, Comrade Norske…! ;-)
Norske! Haven’t seen you for awhile. Maybe it’s quiet because so many pups have the flu or some other winter nasty.
Hey tejan, good to see you at lln. I hope you get to feeling better soon; did you get some antibiotics for the ear?
*brrr* that’s way too forking cold… makes me shiver just thinking about it — i can see why yous said it warmed up to 22
*heh* Another Latte, M’dear…? ;-)
whiiining is fine on lln… we’ve all been there — not feeling well but not feeling totally sick either.
of course and make sure that foam is really dense so its like fake whipped cream dood…. tis my secret pleasure
Norske!! good to see ya! We got the gun-crazy fear here in Utah fer sure; every semi-auto magazine has been sold out of Cabela’s for over a month now, shelves are completely cleared!
space and time
You betcha… Here ya go…!
the stars and moons… wow, thanks dood
Hi everyone! Kinda new here. Greetings from Erie Pa! Just came home from seeing “Django” with friends. Mixed feelings. Parts reminded me of “Book of the Night Women”.
Citizen CT (and Sister Suzanne):
Well, I guess all the “old timers” are just gettin’ older, heh-heh, I’m reconciled to it. I’m so old my kids are startin ta sound like commie pinko radicals…the youngest is interviewin’ for doctoral programs in March, her older sister is subvertin’ her math department on behalf of kids who aren’t bein’ given what they need by administrators who get their understandin’ of education methods from the back of cereal boxes and their big brother is teachin’ high school kids that there is a language beyond textin’ and it includes some real bomb throwers like John Steinbeck, Shakespear and Aescules. So the wife and I are goin’ to an island in Florida for a month ‘cuz our work around here is done LOL!
We flew down in this, the general contractor’s corporate plane, seats 4 plus pilot and copilot. Was a bit nervous about flying in a private plane in winter, but it went smooth.
be careful dood.. steph’s been going to school in florida since sept. she told me this week that it was freezing because it was in the 40′s. this is the kid who loves snow and thrives in temps below freezing
Anybody else having trouble posting? My last reply has failed three times.
just a reminder… the lake will be going down in about 5 minutes or so for maintenance….
Of course, murphy’s law!!
let me check the filters dood
found it and freed one and deleted the duplicat past
refresh and its there
wow.. that’s a sweet jet dood
This private jet was the first in its class to be certified for flight and also the first to be certified to fly into known icing conditions

Sister Suzanne:
Thanks for the heads-up but nuthin’ ken scatch my groove and anyways I’m too old ta get bothered by temperature unless it includes at least 12 inches a snow and wind chills that will refreeze the polar ice caps.
I’m so old my kids are startin ta sound like commie pinko radicals…
*heh* Ya done well, Comrade…! ;-)
the contractor’s son was the pilot, he did very well.
enjoy the migration dood
i always worry about small planes but… that *is* a jet….
Is fdl down for maint yet? If so, I’ll say goodnite to all the lln pups. Sweet dreams, Suz.
not yet but its an any minute kinda thing
g’nite past
i’m headed out too…
g’nite all — looking forward to seeing what tut has on tap this weekend. thanks for letting me hang out here
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
