Scotland Yard tonight launched a full investigation into allegations that Conservative politicians were members of a paedophile ring which abused children in care the 1980s.
Operation Fernbridge will centre on the alleged historic sexual abuse of children at Elm Guest House, in Rocks Lane, a suburban street in Barnes, south-west London.
Residents of a nearby care home run by Richmond Council claim they were sexually assaulted at the property by a network of prominent individuals, including Tory MPs, who used their connections to escape justice.
We have too much in common with the UK sometimes. And the modern Tories are sticking to an only slightly less repellant but similar theme.
But yet another instance of how conservatives saying liberals are undermining values is just a sad and tragic case of projection.

About Firedoglake
St. Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister from 1979 to 1990, it looks like it was her crew.
Ha! Maggie Gallagher for example is well known for linking this kind of thing to teh gayz. Because teh gay is responsible for the downfall of western civilization, you see.
Not too many comments this morning.
Was everyone up watching “Archer” or something?
If so, good choice.
“Archer”? I’ve never seen it.
Good morning, pups. Today we’ve got Brooks, Cohen and Krugman. Bobo has produced another one of his glorious false equivalency columns. In “The Next Four Years” he gurgles that it seems as though everything is in place for President Obama’s second term to be filled with more aggressive recriminations and bulldozing. What false equivalency, you may ask? Here you go: “Just as Senator Mitch McConnell made defeating President Obama his main political objective, Democrats seem likely to make winning back the House their primary political objective.” Oh, as a cherry on top of the sundae he moans about the end of the era of The Grand Bargain… Mr. Cohen, in “The Blight of Return,” says Illusion and division sap the Palestinian national movement at a time when its West Bank achievements have laid the basis for statehood. Prof. Krugman addresses “The Dwindling Deficit” and says the budget deficit isn’t our biggest problem. Not by a long shot. In fact, to a large degree, it’s mostly solved.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes this morning. Yesterday afternoon the weather changed, got much cooler, with wind and rain. This annoyed the kittens no end — Bucky had to give up trying to find little lizards to kill. (At least he doesn’t eat them…) While the outside got watered by Mother Nature yesterday, I’ve still got to water the inside plants, which I’ll get to after another cup of tea, with particular fussing over the 2 orchids that are sending up flower stalks. Have a great day.
Except defeating Obama was Ms. McConnell’s STATED GOAL, while what Bobo said was rank speculation, Doesn’t matter to Bobo’s readers though, I’m sure. After all, for conservatives, “facts” are just what other conservatives say, (unskewed polling, the bible, creationism, WMD….).
Actually, Bobo regularly gets ripped to shreds in the comments. I’ll bet you vast, rolling tracts of cash that he doesn’t read them, though.
Ha! I, (just like you obviously), will only bet on a sure thing.
Gotta go to work.
morning
while its long been clear that a salient personality characteristic (perhaps THE salient characteristic) of conservatives is that they are devoid of empathy. But as bad as that is, evidence continues to indicate that it may be even worse than the absence of empathy, that THE salient personality characteristic of conservatives is sadism. From their pedophilia, to their attacks on the poor and disadvantaged, to their violence as the principle means to get their way, to their obscene hypocrisy, to their oppression of women it is clear that the conservative psyche is severely damaged and in great need of professional help. Non-conservatives ignore that at great peril to humanity.
pluege @ #9: interesting thought. “conservatives” lack of empathy explains a lot of actions on the way to sadism as well. i.e. seeing tar sands, alberta, or the flattened smoky mountains, or the smoldering nuclear storage pits, or storm sandy destruction just has no effect on them UNTIL their public trough job is threatened!
Humm, beginning to think we’ve got a key to representation: pool our money, hire unemployed to monitor each reps office and report the days activities so we’d have an informed electorate. be interesting to get a daily email: visitors log alone would be illuminating.
Sex is used as a powerful method of control (primarily by sex-shaming right wing movements), and it has been this way for a while. The population is controlled by the vicious persecution of normal sexual behavior. The elite are controlled by letting their sexual behavior free, and then keeping the secret for them in exchange for compliance. Why do you think that the most conservative and powerful fraternities and college clubs usually involve sexual secret-divulging and sexual back-covering? It’s training. Why do you think that the Family on K-Street runs a boarding house where congressmen can explicitly carry on their affairs? Because then the Family knows about their failings, and they can be blackmailed into staying in the fold. This behavior is extremely common. Pedophiles are even better! They can be utterly controlled by those with the photos from their sick sex parties.
You know what I call a conservative pedophile?
House of Lords material.
