i’m at jen’s grandbaby sitting while they are out celebrating mike’s brother’s birthday. i can’t help but get the heebie jeebies as i was packing up my laptop etc and thought about that ’4 day visit’ a year ago….

she needed a diaper change so i put her in her jams. she immediately popped her thumb in her mouth (something she only does when she is tired) walked over to her crib, fingered her blankie with the other hand and said nite nite. i didn’t even get a snuggle she was so eager to get into bed.

i’ve been such a nervous grammy, going up and down the stairs about every half hour and checking on her. i’m much smoother and faster than i was when i first got here. make sure i have the banister in one hand and my cane in the other :)

She sounds out for the night. Gosh I love it when they crave their beds! “Nite Nite” is delicious.

i would not go see it. you can still hear with your hands in front of your face (and can’t plug your ears with them there).

The soup sounds great. I can barely cook lately, but I’ve been thinking of making some squash and ginger soup. What else is in with the red lentils?

I decided I am not going to support ZeroDark. I saw Lincoln and liked it. How about Djaango? I’m on the fence on seeing that one.

I’m torn. I want to see the last part, but not the first. Sheesh. Guess I’ll wait for cable. I’m setting up for Downton Abbey for Sunday, just need to find a nice dinner menu.

They were super nice at the office and told me same thing, not to beat up on myself. I did feel like an ass. I hope I don’t have to cancel it next week to go to court. . .we submitted a motion today, and prolly it will not go anywhere. We are still refusing to pay the fines to go to jail instead.

ohmystars i’m so hooked on that show. i caught up with a season 1 marathon on my local pbs on thanksgiving and they replayed season 2 all december.

Your description of her going to her blankie is too good, I can totally picture it. And I too felt sad you did not get more Grammy time before bed. She trusts you, and she did not put up a ruckus when they left with you there.

I was sitting on the couch and it was playing. My father came in and asked what group it was. I said “Some British group called the Beatles. They will never make it.”

Needless to say I did not go into the music field.

she cried the obligatory 30 seconds and then i distracted her with her toys. she was so caught up playing she didn’t even fuss when jen came back in to get something.

We wanted the hearing before our appeal window runs out, but who knows what will happen. AFAIK, we have to go back there by about day 30 and turn ourselves in so as not to trigger increased fines and a warrant. I don’t want a warrant, just want to get on with the show. We are all ready to go to jail, but they do not want us there, so I guess the judge could tell us we must pay the fines and go the route of increase the fines and issue a warrant. No one seems sure how it can go. This is a different court, they have allowed jail instead of fines in the past.

Probably my second favorite series, ever. First, Brideshead Revisited from early 1980′s and now Downton. The music makes me weep every swell (officially a weeper).

I got started late on the series, but I am also a fan now. I also like The Good Wife, which last season was on at the same time, now they are an hour apart, so I’m happy. I don’t like much on TV, except public television.

have you watched ‘call the midwife’. it was that bbc pbs show that snagged me and then spiderpaws told me i had to watch downton abbey cause if i liked call, i would like downton.

she was right.

My memory is sitting in the tv room, with parents and sibs all around. Ed Sullivan and the Beatles rocked — they all said, WTF? I swooned.

the first time I did not see them on TV on the Ed Sulivan Show. We were staying at a motel and my mother and brothers and sister were watching. It was just after my father’s funeral – he had just passe away from a brain hemorrhage a few days ago.

My Uncle had said “Guess your the man in the family now.”

Man of the family. Father just dies and this horrible group was on Ed Sullivan.

I was not a happy camper.

CE, a friend of mine has been using coconut oil for saute, and I have to say, it really adds a nice flavor. My squash soup has onion and garlic, fresh ginger and lime in it. I bet with coconut oil it would have a kind of Thai flavor. The red lentils would add texture without messing up the pumpkin color.

my mom liked them – my dad was a ‘get a haircut’ kinda guy but he secretly liked them too. when they dropped me off at candlestick to see them, they drove to a nearby hill and watched and listened to the concert from there.

i think they had more fun on the other side of the outfield fence than i did in the stands — they told the story of watching the girls climb the fence and run for second base where they were playing and getting tackled by the cops to all their friends for several weeks….

But was it before or after the Pallisers? Wasn’t that the series that began Masterpiece? I wish they’d rerun that. I had never even heard of Trollope at the time, and of course, I went right out and read all the books. PBS was good for me that way.

She talked about what happened on the Gaza Flotilla, and, much, much more about her Global Travels in the pursuit of Justice…! Last week she was in Istanbul testifying about it, next week she’ll be in London for this Award Ceremony… I refreshed her memory that it was for Thomas Fingar…! She went on to say that that esteemed assemblage does plan to visit Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy, but, short of that, he’ll be skyped in for the ceremony…!

You got me following the scarecrow, was probably about 12 yrs old, whole family sitting together watching Disney on Sunday nites. A whole different world, no teevee remote controls at our house back then.

Thought of that, but found I am not putting on the weight that I did last year either. Maintaining 20 lbs less, seem to be eating as much, so unless there is another good reason to imbibe, might hold off until spring.

alcohol does have empty calories. sometimes, i swear even cyber food/drinks can make me gain weight

I got distracted; besides the chore, the kittehs all woke up and wanted to play. Not usual this time of night. Hadda make sure they used up all that energy so I can go to sleep.
