About Firedoglake
happy saturday night pups! how’s everyone doing tonight?
A little pooped, coming down with a cold, but always happy to pop in here and visit with you, Suzanne.
hey blue — i hope it is just a cold and not that nasty flu bug going around… how was your trip to new york? is there another trip planned for your book?
It went well — I got to visit with my father and other family members and did a reading at the Mid-Manhattan Public Library. About 100 people came and we sold 5 or 6 books. Plus I did a few radio interviews. A good trip, but not much sight-seeing.
Oops — didn’t answer your last question. Yes, there will be one more trip, in April. To the Arkansas Literary Festival in Little Rock. I didn’t even know there was one until they called up and invited me.
tis good that you were able to see your dad and family… and you did get to see the mid-manhatten public library :) and a few radio stations…
how cool! do they grow peanuts in arkansas (madly trying to remember)?
Arkansas is one of the few Southern states that doesn’t grow many peanuts. Skippy put their plant there (which I think is why I was invited) because it’s a non-union state and because it’s centrally located within the country and is a good transportation hub.
ah… that’s right, the skippy plant there… iirc, they are really big watermelon folks there (or i may be mis-remembering that)…
Aloha, Suz and lln pups from Subaru again…!
i remembered right — there is a watermelon festival in hope arkansas
aloha tut — how’s the top of the mt tonight?
Hey, CT! What you mean “from Subaru”?
wow, its already 26.6 outside — that’s lower than my low last night of 26.9… *brrrr* no wonder token is sticking close to me tonight. i think we have finally figured out an arrangement in my new to me recliner where both the laptop and he fit.
Right at freezing with some winds tonite, chillier than last nite…!
subaru
Hey Suzanne and all LLN Pups! That cartoon is very close to the truth about French red tape. It takes three or more trips to anywhere to fix anything!
no lightning in the clouds below ya?
Subaru telescope that’s atop Mauna Kea, bw…!
hey ce — how ya doing tonight? is cleveland warmer like your weather dood promised earlier in the week?
I was in Hope once in the late ’70′s…was working at a newspaper just across the line in Texas and was exploring. Don’t remember why I went to Hope. Not sure why I worked in Texas, for that matter.
Not much clouds to speak of, but, there is some ground fog that is creeping up the mtn…!
i think the reason i remembered the watermelon thing is that whole man from hope thang
It is, for right now. We had sun and 63 degrees today — it is 59 and raining like crazy. The black, dirty snow melted and now it is all sorts of sad and mud. Rain forcast all Sunday, and then, BAM, 28 degrees expected Monday morning. Hello black ice!
What is the name of your book?
will it be enough fog that you won’t be able to go out and watch for planes when the lasers are going or does it not get up that high?
Does that mean CT is at the top of Mauna Kea? That he’s an astronomer? (You’ll have to excuse me, I’m very literal: for a minute, I thought he was doing a Subaru commercial.)
63 degrees in Cleveland in January…?
its been all black ice on the roads here.. we’ve had freezing fog develop at night so the roads are horrible in the mornings… since my earlier comments, its down to twenty forking six pt four. my high today was only 33 and its going to be like this for several more days….
“Creamy and Crunchy: An Informal History of Peanut Butter, the All-American Food.”
Ah, now I got it.
Freaky and weird. We drove to the market with all the car windows open. So strange.
Ah, yes: the man from Hope, then Hope and Change. Plus ca change…
Almost at the very top of MK, I’m about 100 feet shy…! I’m not an astronomer, I assist them, bw…! ;-)
That sounds extremely cool. And you must have great views when it isn’t cloudy.
Super! I’ll read it soon — we left town on Dec. 22, so I missed everything for about 5 days. Congratulations! Radio interviews are fun, yes?
sadly, that’s pretty much it…
i had not made that connection between the man from hope and obama’s hope and change until you typed it…. i doubt it was accidental when it was created
that was the day of blue’s book salon… it was a great one ce
The fog would force them to close the dome, to keep the mirrors fog-free…! Btw, I’m not working tomorrow nite, but, I’m scheduled for Monday nite, Suz…!
Thank you, CE. Actually, they make me nervous — I much prefer print, where you can “revise and extend” your remarks and it doesn’t matter if you cough or get a brain freeze. They’ve gone pretty well, though.
i’ll try to be around just in case you are called outside while hosting tut
Mahalo, Suz…! *g*
I’ll mark it to read tomorrow. Funny, peanut butter wasn’t a passion until I was pregnant for the first time. Then, I couldn’t get enough of toast with peanut butter.
here’s the link. it is a great book, one made to read with a jar of peanut butter and a spoon…
I guess I just have so much fun listening to them. And MrCE’s book on Dissection had lots of radio — he had a ball.
Must be wonderful!
Oh, hell, I’m pooped and am gonna bail. Goodnight, all.
i love the way the character said disgusting in this cartoon…
g’nite blue — hope ya feel better soon
it’s hot and i’m sick of it; i can’t sleep and i hate that and i wasn’t hungry at dinner time but ate an yway– ’cause it was dinner time an d that was sgupid. shit.
Hey everybody!!!
hey bfl — it just is wrong to be that hot in winter… is it usual to be hot in florida in january?
Ha! He should have said “degoutant.” I loved this — so French, really.
Hey dude!
Pleasant dreams, bw…!
the disgust with which he says disgusting cracked me up
yeah.for the 7 years i’ve been here. would have to ask tuez. she’s been here longer, i think. it may have gotten hotter for a day or two or 3 but never had a hotter winter. xmas had me pissed
what it do, CE?
The emphasis the character shows is SO TRUE. Man the French can show distain like no one else.
steph’s having a hard time adjusting to the heat and humidity after being in the midwest for several weeks. she had finally gotten used to the cold and whammo….
i think that is what drew me to select this cartoon for tonight…. that disgusting. and how the fix just made it worse.
Too weird weather here as well. Work fine but no raise, new hikes in insurance suck bigtime, family lovely. Hello 2013!
Well, time for me to suit up once again, sweet dreams y’all…!
but I had a late afternoon trip to panera with my kid (which is why i wasn’t hungry at dinner) before she goes back to school monday. a wonderful young woman. love her to bits.
Pee Yew!
catch ya later tut
yeah, i’m getting nickel and dimed money-wise too and it’s turning into real money by the end of the month
where’s she going to school at bfl? i’m sure you told me but i am drawing a blank.
hey CT, mahalo!
BC
she had that wonderful trip this summer too…. she’s getting such a well rounded education
Our bonus was a frozen turkey.
that blows…
yeah. wonderful friends– they seem to be anyway. dad approves. makes me look back those many years at my college days and wish i hadn’t pissed them away. we can’t go back, can we?
Yeah, I told them to keep it.
i think back to decisions i made when i was young and wish i could go back knowing what i know now…
my bonus was nothing. we got to leave early on the friday before Xmas and kiss the boss’s ass for it
as bad as the jelly of the month club
And oddly, I still work there because I love art.
can we? can we? huh? please please? bah. i guess we can share what we learned with the k,ids and hope they’re smart enough to listen and not do the same
i didn’t listen much to my elders who tried to share their knowledge with me when i was younger…
hey, something to be said for working somewhere you love. ALOT to be said for it. you’re fortunate
You are right, I do love it so.
i’m lucky. at their age I hated my parents. might be a little strtong. i certainly didn’t like them and or maybe disdainful is more like it. they had nothing to share with me or teach me. i thought. i’m pretty sure my girls don’t feel that way about me and mom.
Yikes, it is way too late for me now — not that I have anything to go to, but 2:16 am is way bad for me. Goodnight Suzanne and all here. See you soon!
it has been my experience that the disdain tends to occur in every generation… i know i felt like i knew what was best for me
guys, i gotta try to sleep again. love LLN. good night, people.
g’nite ce
g’nite bfl
yeah. i figure they’re just going to get to that point a few years later than i did. the one kind of knows everything there is possibly to know but thinks i know a few things too. i thought my parents knew nothing. nothing useful anyway.
down to 25.2 outside… poor little short legged token is in for a shock when we get out there….
g’nite all. thank you for letting me hang out with ya this week. i’m looking forward to seeing what tut has on tap for sun and mon nights…. hope to see ya there
