The Zimmers — Fight For Your Right on Britain’s Got Talent.
What’s on your mind?
Jebus Gawd, am I relieved we didn’t go over the cliffydoddlethingie.
Hey Suz!
oh and Zed!
hey senator — how’s sac tonight? my snow is still here
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Hau’oli Makahiki Hou…! *g*
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? nice party last nite dood
Cold but dry. Tomorrow night will be below freezing. All three kittahs are curled together on the bed. A bouquet of kittahs.
Ours too! And we will keep it all week with temps in the teens. Yea! I’m getting my big down coat out now.
Apparently a vote was taken. Apparently some things were agreed to. Apparently there will be another brouhaha in a couple of months. Same old same old. Amirite?
Every winter I think I will put insulation under my desk and around the walls. It is cold. But I have always forgotten until the day is done and the hardware store is closed. burrrrrr.
I need one!
it snowed yesterday from 11am to 5pm… 6 hours of a soft gentle straight down snow. got about an inch. my high yesterday was 33 and my low got down to 24. today i had some sunshine but not enough to melt all the snow… the driveway is still covered :) its 28.4 at the moment
You sure are. More bullshit than a body can take. I swear, I didn’t think things could get this bad and stupid ever. But the idiots in Washington keep proving me wrong.
hey ce — so forking pretty to look out. i did a quick trip a few blocks away just as it started to snow but i’m gonna need to go to town and stock up so i’m hoping its gone tomorrow. i got out my big purple parka that’s from 1990. how old is your big down coat?
hey dearie — unfortunately you are right… how’s the ‘nard tonight?
hey margot – how’s the wilds of ohio tonight?
I bought this poor old coat at Nordstroms in 1998! It is a black floor length down coat with fox fur on the hood. I bought it to wear in Vienna!
I just keep on breathing….and cooking for the joy of it….and loving my family. If I could kick butt, some congresscritters would be running for cover…. but, alas, I cannot. Therefore, I simply carry on. :-)~
Sounds warm and dramatic!
Mahalo, Suz…! It was fun hosting it…! A whole bunch of my Occupy brethren had gathered together for the festivities…! I’d finally laid my head on my air mattress at about 3 am, and, got home at 3 this afternoon…! ;-)
i want it too — that sure beats my old parka altho it is warm it only comes down mid thigh
Heh! You win! Still warm after all these years…
Wow, your snow is still there? Cold, huh?
It’s cold here, too…not that cold. But it is supposed to go down to the 30′s tonight.
And wouldn’t ya know, three of my four kittehs are outside right now…they were quiet and good all day, no attempts to leave. Then I somehow managed to bend over Big Boy, the feral who was making so much progress, while holding a glass of water, and…you guessed it, spilled it, splashing some on him.
So, he insisted on going back out, despite the wet spot, and hasn’t quite overcome his wariness to come back in. And…while I was trying to get him in, naturally, two of the others slipped out the partially open door.
Sigh.
No way are they coming back soon, but it’s the coldest night of the year so far…er, of the winter so far, and now I can’t go to sleep. face palm. all my fault.
So how’s everyone else’s year beginning?
how cool…. a cyber party and an occupy party going on at teh same time :)
i bought it while married to the fundy at wards. its purple and teal green and has a hood and lotsa pockets and is fluffy warm. i look like the pillsbury dough boy from mid-thigh up.
I think it was in the high 20s last night….imagine! But, blue sky and lovely and I have no complaints.
Took care of my grandtwins yesterday. They stepped from toddlerville to young boys. Mayhem! Jumping on the furniture; fighting over toys; making their grandma half crazy. First time they’ve been that way. Happy New Year. Crap.
But I love ‘em. And they are still as sweet as ever….. just rambunctious, I guess. :O
air mattress? Sleeping over at the party? What are you, tenty-something?
;-)
It was, when new. And Vienna in January was full of snow and music.
hey tejan — i’m toasty warm inside :) totally loving having heat. is there a place outside they can hole up to stay warm?
I bet you don’t need to wear it that often, do you? Or is it colder where you are now than the shore cabin?
It was Teh Cool…! I kept asking some of them for their fave songs…! ‘People are Strange’ was one of ‘em…! ;-)
oh my… another step in their journey (and those who love them). i’m loving that jujube is a toddler now but i do miss the feel of her as a wee sweet baby cuddled up against my chest.
i’ve not worn it often. half the time, i forget. used it at the coast mainly for rain/wind protection. i got down to 13 as my lowest low at the coast but that was in feb which is the coldest month. i will get colder here since i don’t have the pacific ocean to mitigate the cold just like it get hotter in the summer.
Well, there’s lots of shrubbery next door, and Big Boy must have a hidey hole where he disappears in bad weather if I’m not here to let him in before it gets nasty.
He’s been staying almost all day as well as the night this week, though. Even venturing into the dining room…which he was doing when I spilled water on him. How dumb am I?
The other guys spent much of the day on my lap, occasionally all three at once. They came and went some, especially when feeling crowded. But even Smokey, who usually doesn’t sit on my lap, spent a few hours there today. It was raining in the morning, then overcast and damp all day, so chilly in the house. Nice to have a cat blanket to keep me warm.
Apologies to those who fear they have stumbled onto Caturday by mistake. All this just happened, and I’m feeling guilty. Triggered it all with the spill.
i’ve always loved that song… doors fan from back in my teen days
She is on the go now — we called Jack “busy fingers.”
its not your fault and this is the place to talk about whatever you want to talk about tejan. you were lucky you didn’t fall on him or injure yourself. sometimes, they need to take a step back before they can take the next two steps forward….
Awwww. Jules is becoming a person instead of a wee baby? Nice, but…
they grow so quick, don’t they.
still hard to understand what she is saying. she’s got a soft voice and talks so forking fast. she’s gonna be 2 in april
*heh* I did make the trek to get a chalk-tracing of Jim’s grave…! ;-)
you might remember the zimmers from this
*le sigh* i’ve not been to paris
the semi-finals
Oh, that’s wonderful! Those old folks really are having a good time, aren’t they? I did hear something about this, but haven’t ever seen the video.
It strikes me that if they’re all in the 90-ish age range, this song was their kids’ music, but they seem to have really gotten into it. Lovely. Makes me feel a little better about aging.
i featured their my generation up top several years ago. didn’t knew they were still singing until surfing the youtubes and i stumbled upon their 2012 BGT videos
Oh, my! Movement! Color! Drama and dance routines!
Who says old age is rocking chair time?
i first learned about the zimmers from a pbs show about them several years ago. not sure if it was p.o.v. or which show but its worth watching. should be on the pbs site — they are really good at putting their videos up.
it may have been a bbc show airing on pbs
fuck — chance of freezing rain thurs
i sure hope the roads are clear tomorrow.
Are you traveling tomorrow, Suz?
just to the bank and the grocery store and the post office
Sorry to hear that, Suze. Don’t go out if it isn’t safe, though…do you have some soup or something to subsist til Friday? Bet tomorrow will be okay…can you make it out of bed before the crack of noon? (that’s a joke)
*laughing* if i set my alarm i can :) i’m not on a snow plow route so its slippery going to get to the main roads. heard my neighbor drive out to 30 when i was at the mailbox earlier and decided i made the right decision to stay home today. he’s lived in the area his whole life and still sounded like he slipped a wee bit turning at the corner
*heh* Good one, tj…! ;-)
evening, Suzzzz … firegods
*setting look to stun*
You do have a front-wheel drive right, Suz…?
hey ppd — how was your day?
Aloha, PPD…!
i’ve got zero experience driving in snow other than being the 2nd vehicle behind a snowplow going over the coast range. i’ve avoided it whenever i could since i moved up here. my trip to get smokes (and a latte) as it was starting to snow was a first for me….
good thanks — exhausting yesterday with year end rush. Annual party today, just relaxed for a change.
the party went well?
Aloha, CT — Looks like Obama’s heading back to paradise after selling 99%’s retirement down the sewer… love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The Better Half had asked me the very same thing, in about the same tone, and, all I could say was a-yep…! 8-(
Family friends throw this party every year — traditional Japanese new year’s celebration — great food & fun.
sounds like fun dood
Yeah, driving in snow does take some practice. My ex, the native Texan, was glad to let me take the wheel when on our Christmas trip to my folks in Maryland years ago the snow began while we were out. Heh. Usually he’d never turn loose of the wheel. ; )
I kinda enjoyed finding that I could manage the driving last week in the snowstorm. We didn’t go very far, though. It was raining when I picked up the rental, turning to snow as I arrived. I was most astonished to look at the cars in other lanes and see packed snow on their roofs and sides…hadn’t seen snow in a few years!
I’m more worried about you slipping between the door and the car. Got any beans you can start cooking tomorrow? Can the bank and post office wait a day or so?
i’ve got enough in the pantry to make some pasta — used my last egg in tonight’s french toast. i think if its like this tomorrow, i’m gonna put salt on those two steps.
tis time for token to frolic in the snow while saving a blade of grass….. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight
g’nite all
Fiscal cliff — what a crock of crap. One out of five, kick the can down the road again:
Just wait until the real slashing begins when Wall Street drops another TARP rejection horsehead in congress’ bed by February over the debt limit increase, then another over the budget sequestration cuts, then another over the social security, medicare & medicaid, and another other over kneecapping Obamacare. We’ll see how futile progressive resistance really is
I’ve just been over at Rolling Stone reading this
It’s the best article I’ve ever read to convey the shock and humiliation of middle-class people who lose everything through no fault of their own and end up homeless. And every line I read made me so furious at the heartless politicians and pundits who claim unemployment and food stamps are “too generous.”
Ah, well, Suzanne and Token have gone outside; I’m going to see if my kittehs are ready to come inside.
shit, fell asleep again, hny Suz and all!
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Hippo Gnu Year, bg…! *g*
Day 2, another 363 days to go…! ;-)
night CT — keep up the good work.
