Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band — Merry Christmas Baby and Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, at Holiday Express, December 16, 2002.
What’s on your mind?
ohmigosh! Zed?
Wheeeee! I’m first! (zed has been mentioned lately, time for a revival?)
Howya doin’Suzanne? Are you early, or am I later than usual?
congrats tejan — how ya doing tonight?
you are up later than usual… i’m here at my regular time :)
i don’t say this often, but open up the video to full screen and turn up your speakers
Odd, some nights it seems I keep checking and nope, no LLN, then I’m falling asleep and have to give up. Tonight I should be on my way to bed, but not really sleepy yet. You’d think on yoga night I’d be asleep by nine; rest of the class says they’re out early after class. But nope, I have my own personal idiosyncratic sleep ways, I guess.
It is very quiet; no tv, cats asleep except the one around whose head I am typing.
What’s new with you?
am sitting here enjoying the night. token is curled up snoozing on the sofa, the tree is glittering and sparkling and i’m eating a slice of forking fantastic fruitcake. bg sent me several slices along with some cookies and some small black hole ornaments she made for my tree.
i’m hoping she will show up tonight
Wow! Incredible video, Suz!
hey loohoo — so glad you liked it. it got me back into my christmas is good mood… and my foot a’tapping in a non-larry craig way.
how’s socal tonight?
Cranked it up…bet that woulda been a fun concert to be at live.
I should’ve said nothing about the kittehs being asleep…forr some reason the sleeping ones are now upand the one on my lap got annoyed and went over to sit on the cedar chest. Hmmm.
Maybe I’m not in the Christmas mood because (1) it was 80 degrees today, and (2) can’t play my beloved Christmas music (traditional carols, medieval and Renaissance carols and church music, etc. I love love “The Christmas Revels,” for instance, and have a bunch of their CD’s. But my little cheap player (which replaced my old cd changer-component) has died, and I can’t play them all day long this year. :(
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! Gotta luv The Boss…! ;-)
Fruitcake! Haven’t had any in years. When I was a kid someone was bound to give my family one.
Box turtle had a funny story on OverEasy about the family fruitcake…been in the family for decades, it seems, and gets passed around every year. sometimes disguised…since it’s sorta the booby prize present.
Wish I had a family traditon like that. :)
oh no tejan… oh what a christmas to have the blues
are you doing utube searches? can you get a new cheap player?
Loo hoo! Long time no see!
CT- thought of you listening to encomia about Sen. Inouye and his part in getting Hawaii into the Union.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight?
Nah, I’m too lazy for youtube searches…when I’m on the ‘puter I don’t think about it, I guess…doing something else.
Embarrassed to say I did break down and buy the less expensive Crosley box player with cd and turntable and mp3 over the weekend…but by the time I finished taking apart the stack of components (and moving all the cd’s stored on top of the stack, and dusting all the revealed parts), I was too pooped to open the box.
So you’ve got me; if I could get myself together I guess I could be listening to music…meant to do it today but too much other stuff kept getting in the way. I haven’t even figured out my new phone, and I think I’m dreading not understanding how to put together/work the new player.
Dumb, huh?
its forking good fruitcake. moist and drunk and sweet and tart and yummy!
i used to have a tradition with my brother where we wrapped each others gifts in impossible wrapping. he finally acknowledged he had been topped and waved the white flag when the present i gave him was wrapped with bailing wire, duct tape, newspaper comics (another family tradition), shipping tape, 3 boxes, curly ribbon and all held together with flexicuffs.
i have a new iphone4 that goes into service on the 21st with my new plan. i am not looking forward to learning it — tis my first iphone
LOL – the last one was the topper! Are flexicuffs those plastic cuffs you see when the coppers arrest crowds of protesters?
yup. and looped together they made a right pretty bow to go with the flex cuff ribbon
Oooh, iPhone, huh? Glad I’m not alone on the dreading-to-learn part. I decided to go Android, and am wondering if I made a mistake. It’s pretty, though…Galaxy SIII ( or is it IIIS?). I keep getting stuck on a screen and then not being able to get out of it. Weird. And then today I wanted to get on the net while eating lunch out, and it kept telling me no access ’cause no wi-fi…wtf? I went whole-hog for 4g just so I wouldn’t have to have wi-fi for net access! Still not sure what went wrong there.
Sigh. Maybe I am too old to learn new technology?
ray’s
Didja take a pikcher? (not on Instagram, I hope)
i’ve had a ‘smart’ phone but not an android for the past 2 years and never did figure that forking samsung out. figured out i would go with the iphone since that whole apple is easy to learn stuff i’ve heard. what i’m dreading is that wifi/cell thing — how do ya know when you are what and is it easy to see — i’ve got old eyes yanno. can’t activate it until the 21st so i’ve been fussing and worrying in advance for almost a week now.
nope…. this was back in the late 80′s early 90′s…. back before cell phones that took pix etc.
motown’s merry
I hear ya. I didn’t even put the battery in mine for two days after buying it. Avoided getting a smartphone for ages…despite being mocked by the younger co-workers for my clunky LG Virgin Mobile with/slideout keyboard….mostly for not wanting to put in the time to figure it out. Sigh.
the samsung has a slide out too…. i hear ya on the mocking…
I’m in the desert tonight and it’s cool and windy. Love it!
woohoo — weather dood just said that st helens has a decent chance of having snow tonight and having it stick for a bit. will be my first snow at the bungalow!!!
I’m fine, how are you, tej?
mom said she had rain when i talked to her last — first rain to actually fall at her house instead of around her. she loves the rain but lives in the desert. she also loves those cool windy nights
It makes for beautiful snowy mountains.
I’m good. Just technologically challenged (see above).
I forget, Loo Hoo…are you in the California desert? New Mexico? Utah? (stabbing away in the dark here, as you see)
it does! when they lived in palm desert, mom and steve loved being all nice and warm on the valley floor and looking at the snowcapped peaks around them.
stevie
Apparently there’s a big storm heading for the Midwest in a couple days…are you at the leading edgeof it, Suze?
I am going to Maryland at my Mom’s request; last two times I was there around Christmas, it snowed, wonder if it will again? I love visiting snow! (i.e., no shoveling or slogging through slick streets to get to work required of me)Hope you get yours…enough to be pretty, not enough to snow you in. ; )
boogie woogie santa claus
*ooh* Aren’t we getting fancy-schmancy, Suz…! ;-)
we’ve had a couple good ones come through since the weekend… when are you headed to mom’s?
it’s only a 4 — according to ‘some’, i’m several years behind *laughing* jen has a 4S she’s had since the 4s came out and is wanting to upgrade to the 5. steph just wants an iphone and doesn’t care what kind
my rain gauge has officially died. i’ve replaced the batteries twice and it still showed no rain when a weather underground station closeby showed 0.65″ yesterday and 0.42 the day before. *sigh*
I’m flying on the 24th…imagine it! By the time she asked and I booked, naturally that was pretty much all that was available. I delayed partly because I had an ear infection and was a little worried about not being allowed to fly.
Which reminds me…doctor gave me antibiotic drops today and it’s probably past time to use them. Think I’m ready to try sleeping.
It’s been nice visiting with y’all. Be careful in the rain or snow, everybody.
wait – batteries? Rain gauges have moving parts that need power? I thought they were just fancy tuna cans that collected the rain and you looked at the markings to see how much. (see, technologically challenged)
g’nite tejan — hope your drops work and you can fly
gotta have power to record and transmit to the in the house monitor
aw man
Oh…transmitter! Fancy-schmancy, indeed! “in my day” we just walked out and looked at the tuna can stuck in the ground… (ducking)
@47 – omg! She’s talking! How time flies. Such a cutie!
And on that, I’m going to bed for realz. G’nite!
I’m in Palm Springs, CA. It’s truly beautiful and the economy is really picking up. Nice to see so many tourists from everywhere.
g’nite for realsie tejan
i used to havea stick in a hole on the railing of the deck tube gauge when i first moved to the cabin in boulder creek. jen got me my first automated temp/rain gauge weather system as a christmas present. no more running out in the rain because it had rained more than 6″ that day. when i moved to the coast my system didn’t have wind. when it finally died, jen got me this one with the wind gauge.
jen gives the best presents :)
apocalypse forecast
looks like folks are headed for bed. guess i should do the same.
g’nite all — thanks for letting me hang around with ya tonight.
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
