The job of the gun loving receiver of NRA money is to take their donations and do what they tell them — so it comes as no surprise:
No members of the Senate, but the House GOP still has its unfiltered lunatics:
Appearing on a special Fox News Sunday dedicated to the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) said that an armed teacher or principal could have taken the killer’s “head off before he can kill those precious kids”
There’s actually video of him saying this…surprisingly Louie Gohmert was not masturbating.
This really is the biggest fantasy of our modern conglomeration of gun fetishists — “Oh if only so and so was armed this could have been prevented”
Well Adam Lanza’s mother appears to have been more than a bit of a gun paranoid — she was armed to the teeth.
And her son killed her…undoubtedly before she thought about shooting first.
And that’s how that goes about 100 percent of the time.

you are brilliant, that is the line nobody in mainstream will think to use
We should all admire the self-restraint of the NRA. We disagree with them, and they haven’t shot us.
But the day is yet young.
had trouble posting in chrome, switched to ie and posted fine, am now posting fine on chrome
there’s a gremlin on the site
so, according to gun advocates, a teacher or principle would have had plenty of time to get their gun, which obviously wouldn’t be locked up cause that would make it to hard to get, and get to the class room before the mass murder
or, I am assuming, the principle would have already been in the class brandishing his assualt weapon, meaning there would be an armed principle in each and every class
or, I am assuming it was the teacher standing there with his assault weapon, and he would of course be in each and every classroom at the same time
or, ALL teachers would teach with their assualt weapons, of course I do not know if they could use the chalk board while keeping their assualt weapon loaded and ready to go
Thanks, attaturk, voters choosing the sort of lunatics Gohmert typifies show just as much judgment as he does. It’s not about government, horribly enough it seems like their favorite form of entertainment. Armchair terrorists, like their real counterparts, getting their kicks out of rejecting responsible thought and behavior, are making this country really difficult to keep safe.
AP: 2 Kansas cops fatally shot outside market
Note to home safety seekers; a dog is the best preventative of break-ins. Ask a policeman. They have more sense than we do.
Every year our gun fetishists help create personal stories of survivors that sound more like someone who climbed out of the death pit at Baba Yar:
Hope she gets over those memories.
I eagerly anticipate the upcomoing Presidential Blue Ribbon Commission. It will surely save us.
May the souls of the slain children haunt their dreams.

The guns nuts keep saying that and the gun supporters keep making it easier to carry guns everywhere yet in none of these mass shootings has any armed civilian put an end to the killings with his/her own firearm. Not once. But being conservative means never admitting that you’re wrong, be it about economics, the polls or guns. That’s why theirs is a dogma, rather than a philosophy.
Reality bites. It keeps trying to get in the way, for the Faux news puppets.
Good morning pups. Today we have Keller and Krugman. Mr. Keller is in Johannesburg. In “South Africa Since Mandela” he says the country is still making the transition from liberation movement to government. Prof. Krugman, in “That Terrible Trillion,” offers a little perspective on the scary deficit.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. Why they let Louie Gohmert out in public without keepers is a mystery to me.
Was I the only one who couldn’t get to FDL yesterday morning? I tried 3 browsers and zip, zero, nada… Gremlins must be active. I’m off to start baking off the last of the Christmas cookies, a double batch of spice cookies that should yield about 15 or 16 dozen. Have a great day.
Thanks, Marion, no one could get on FDL yesterday morning. Since I took the weekend off from the internet it didn’t bother me.
Nope, it was down from Saturday night to Sunday morning. Wasn’t your browser.
The NYT tells us the gun nuts have been taking over the rural areas around Newtown and turning them into their own personal tactical fantasyland. No indication as to whether deceased gun nut, survivalist and certain NRA member Nancy Lanza or her son Adam frequented these fantasy explodathons.
Bill Bennett agrees with Gohmert.
He likes to gamble with other people’s lives as well as with his own money it seems
Heh. No pro-gun senator wants to talk on record. How odd that NONE of them do. Almost as if they’re got their marching orders from the same place.
Give this “unfortunate incident” time to fade, and they’ll be right back with “a gun in every home”.
Heck, why not issue a gun to every student right along with the textbooks and substitute a Gun Safety and Marksmanship course for Health? Best to teach ‘em while they’re young.
And I’m gonna design a holster for teachers that they can draw from quickly, yet will be completely immune from being drawn by a student. Shouldn’t be a problem.
Boxturtle (Bushmasters shouldn’t be legal weapons)
We have no power to implement into law our disagreements and they know it. If they thought there was a gun restriction majority in congress, it’d be different.
Boxturtle (Their guns are more important than everyone elses children to them)
Conservatives are always afraid, which they disguise by always being outraged. They fear change, they fear “the other”, they fear themselves. They go through life in abject terror and the only thing that makes them feel better about themselves is to pretend they are not afraid and to do that, they need to be armed.
And a large evil tempered dog works best of all. They’re more expensive than guns, however.
Boxturtle (The least truthful sign in the world is the one that says “FREE PUPPIES”)
The first function of any government is to provide for the common defense, women and children first. If we can’t make our government protect us from the gun nuts and the goons at the NRA, we have failed and we deserve what we get.
OBVIOUSLY, that’s because we haven’t reached the critical mass of firearms. Not enough guns owners to cover everything.
Boxturtle (Excuse me, I have to go wash my mouth out with soap)
This should be spread around, though I donbt very much that our Concealed/Carry Fantasy Hero Fetishists would believe it

Gotta go to work, (and listen to all the conservatives there whine about how Obama is going to take their guns away).
They’ve actually found medical evidence to support this.
Boxturtle (Another reason for conservatives to deny science)
Here, I know some places I would go and hear speculation that the shooter in CT was just a hired gun for the Obama gun confiscation effort.
Mourning all,
Connecticut is the gun manufacture hub of the nation.
guns are murder machines
Like any other day worldwide kids got gunned down
I’m betting , in six degrees of separation, some relative of one of the kids made the guns or bullets .
Sow the wind, reap the whirl wind.
Yeah, it's, like, if you see a fire burning somewhere inside a school, the best idea is to start several other small fires. That way there will be nothing left to burn for the original fire!
Louie Gohmert is just about the dumbest sumbitch in elected office.
Bet Louie has more ‘followers’ than almost anybody.
good link
Or the other analogy I’ve been using this weekend:
A patient has cancer. So let’s introduce more cancer to battle the cancer they already have. That’ll make them all better.
The other thing we have to do is de-stigmatize mental illness. Of all the shootings that have taken place and those that have been avoided, the other common thread besides the weapons has been some form of mental illness that was heretofore ignored or swept under the rug.
If (big if) Obama does “evolve” on gun control, he will naturally deserve support, but not thanks: he has gone too long as the servant of the pro-gun extremists who despise him for anybody else to consider him a real ally on this issue.
Exactly who are the 31 pro-gun rights Senator’s and why won’t they step forward? Why are they hiding?
In the aftermath of Newtown, sure would be nice if the media would even attempt to balance the process/horserace/polling coverage of this sad issue (and fiscal cliff and…) and spend a little more time educating people on what these policies would mean. And what the status quo path means.
