You will all laugh, but I’ve been charged with blogging more for our research library.
And a shout out to Marion in Savannah…. who is our early bird friend… as this was her last day of work……it’s now retirement all the way! Pretty cool.
*laughing* karma baby, karma
woohoo for marion in savannah!!! *one legged happy snoopy dance*
Aloha, Margot…! It’s Aloha Friday…! ;-)
That is totally kewl…! *g*
My dream.
tis a wonderful one ce — the wages suck but everyday is the weekend…
and no more fucking alarm clocks!!!
Suz, well I haven’t seen a deer on the city streets in the last few days, but i don’t know if that means anything.
Sigh, not going to happen here until 2020.
Hi Chris!
hunting season has started? they are all hiding?
fuck
Roll up for the Muppetical Mystery Tour.
*laughing* i like it mud. how ya doing tonight?
Hey Margot!
Hi Pups.
Well, I did it. For the first time in 11 years, I bought a tree today. Now I just have to figure out where to put it.
I’m so festive.
Merriness, tuez!
Reading an amazing book, The Greater Journey, by David McCullough.
oh lardy, i totally forgot my manners. welcome to late late night mud… i don’t recognize ya as being at lln before (although my memory isn’t what it used to be)… whereabouts do ya hang your hat, geographically speaking?
hey tuez – woohoo! what kinda didja get? how big? details, tuez, details!
what’s it about ce?
Aloha, Mud, always a delite to see a long-time lurker, uncloaking…! ;-)
I’m kinda feeling it for a change. Strange though, the reason I got out of Christmas, was because we were going to Paris for NYE and I knew I wouldn’t have the time to take it down before we left and I didn’t want a fire hazard in the house while we were gone. However, it was all paid for because I had to cash out my 401K due to breast cancer.
this is the first time i’ve had a tree in 9 or 10 years… tis good to be festive again
I got about a 6 foot Fraser fir, cause I wanted one that smelled good and didn’t shed too much (yeah, right). It does smell good, even though it’s still on the front porch, while I figure out what to do with it.
Americans going to Paris, I think from 1830- to the end of the 19th century. I’m stuck in the chapter about medical students going to Paris and not being able to return home, so in love with Paris.
sweet! my neighbors are going to be cutting their tree and i’ve been promised a few boughs so i’ll have that christmas smell going. my fake tree is pretty but has its limits…
> whereabouts do ya hang your hat, geographically speaking?
In honor of pushing the yellow submarine premise all I say is…
(you must see it coming by now)
… Nowhere Man.
your dream for sure…
Oh, but you’ve been to Paris! And sounds like your health is stable. Enjoy the aroma of your fresh tree. Hmmmmn.
You can turn your boughs into a wreath. They can leave a subtle but nice smell throughout a small home, such as yours, easily. Even if on the front door.
help how about a time zone? *laughing*
i was on the oregon coast but am now along the columbia river north of portland… i’m a left coaster
is what i was thinking…. its only 550 sq feet so it won’t take much to give me that christmas smell.
*heh* Hard to keep them down on the farm, after seeing the lights of Gay Paree…! ;-)
Paris on New Years Eve is… Well it’s one hell of a party. Bottles, yes whole bottles, of wine and champagne for sale. No sissy glasses for those folks. No distinguishing between fireworks and gunfire but the cops kept it real, until 1 a.m. when they sent everyone home. It was perfectly safe and a fun party.
le sigh
sounds wonderful tuez
The French aren’t afraid of their own shadow, as American’s have been conditioned to be.
Arizona, land of ten thousand snakes.
well, every third Parisian isn’t carrying, and that certainly helps!
my sister used to live in tuscon but moved to surprise to be closer to my mom and stepdad. az is a real pretty state — warm tho. turns out i’m the only one in the family who likes the rain
how on earth do they deal with the ones that are?
And I do love me some Muppets. I know this is sick and wrong but it sure is funny
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3gIf16d0Tc
i love that one….i’ve been featuring muppets here on most fridays for several years. so much good stuff out there in the youtubes
Fasching in Mainz or Cologne is pretty cool too…! ;-)
well, I think there really aren’t guns running loose in Paris……..but I’ve never been there. What’s your thought?
hey jgerke — how ya doing tonight? welcome to late late night…
all the evidence i’ve seen refutes the “only outlaws will use guns” fallacy… so i’m in favor of it :)
i’m well. it’s a torrential downpour where i am, so i’m just relaxing and playing some nintendo.
Doctor My Eyes…
Yes, yes there is
raining pretty hard here too. had the front door open a wee bit ago – love the smell of rain. whereabouts are ya located? i’m north of portland oregon along the columbia river. the rain here is so quiet — i’m used to hearing the rain pelt the windows and drumming on the metal roof of the place i was living along the north oregon coast
oh my… i’ve not seen that. wow. i’m gonna have to start checking out the sesame street stuff more…
for what its worth
touche’ Well played sir.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySGDn5ccMhw
i’ll just leave this here — the vocal track comes from a 20 second sesame street interstitial drawn out to about two minutes. i really, really like this track.
with a little help from my friends
i’m just outside portland myself, actually, so maybe we’re getting the same rain?
the weather around here has been a bit curious lately, actually. i didn’t really know what a “squall” was until i had to walk from the bus stop to meet up with some colleagues half a mile away. the wind has been really intense here for the last week or so.
i moved to st helens in june so it has to be the same rain. i’ve not had much wind at this house — at the coast the strongest i had in the almost 4 years was gusts of 93 iirc. the wind can be fierce when it wants to — when i was living in a hospital bed in my daughter’s living room in beaverton, i saw how fast and fierce they can be…

That’s very good to hear, Suzanne. On another front, we had a union meeting of the adult ed. section of United Teachers of Los Angeles this evening. It looks like we’ll be fighting for our existence on a somewhat regular basis from now on. Fortunately, we’re a pretty scrappy bunch.
*heh* You sly devil…! ;-)
fingers and toes crossed for winning hands tearloch
fuck. too bad your energy has to be directed to save your jobs instead of going into doing your jobs
Our public Teachers, here in the Isles, are fighting with our purported, ‘Progressive’ Guv…! 8-(
Well, it’s a bit of both. There are some good auguries: Proposition 30 passed, which stabilized our funding. And the new administrator in charge of the adult division for the Los Angeles Unified School District is apparently competent, concerned and good natured, a shocking departure from the incompetent, rapacious clowns we’ve had in the past.
wow, that is a change!
The Republicans are batshit insane, but at least you know where they stand. To me, the Democrats are more insidious, because they serve as a way to channel and harmlessly (harmlessly for the 1 percent) muffle progressive energy in this country.
And a good one. Just tryin’ to “accen-tuate the positive” (which is unlike me).
positively accentuated
Indeed. Suzanne, I’m going to bail on you. Thanks as always for your congenial hostessing.
tis about time for me to get horizontal pups. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight — hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons
g’nite all
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
*warm hug* in passing out ..
G’nite, Mr C-Tuttle .. *** falls down stairs ” . and thus diconnects himself from his “living orb of communique** .. be well .. /s
Good morning, pups. Today we have Mr. Nocera and Ms. Collins. Mr. Nocera looks at “The Bad Luck of Winning.” He says two lucky ticket-holders struck it rich this week in the Powerball. This raises a question: Why do so many lottery winners wind up broke? Ms. Collins, in “Mitt’s Oval Office Moment,” says a makeup meal at the White House doesn’t even have to make the loser feel better.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got your favorite omelet for breakfast. It’s got to be the effects of the full moon… The cats are absolutely bonkers. Bucky is attacking the bedspread on the corner of the bed. Maybe he’s pretending he’s a lion and the corner of the bed is a gazelle… Spats is simply tearing up and down the hall like a mad thing. Maybe breakfast will calm them down a bit. Have a great day.
