John Hiatt and Sonny Landreth — Riding With The King.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening pups — how ya doing tonight?
Well baked a ten pound ham, and enough lasagna for 12. Salad with kale and various greens and dressing by Lianna. We ate like kings.
Hey Suze. Can’t sleep yet, too much on my mind I guess. How are you?
hey ce — wow now thats a pre-thanksgiving meal *laughing* how ya doing tonight?
hey margaret — tis always good to see your fonts! what are your plans for tomorrow?
Everything is done but the cooking.
My owl was back tonight. Yippee. Wish the dog would STFU.
CE. I’m trying your suggestion to dry the birds skin out. Seems ironic. I spent today brining the silly thing, to dry it out again. Oh well. I do use bags anyway.
A quiet day at home with my cat. Then on Friday I hafta spend money on my car. How about you?
for the turkey fryers out there
a quiet day spent with token and then on friday i go to jen’s for leftovers. i’m sorry about your car and hope its not too big of a hit…
hey tuez — woohoo and woohoo! what time are ya starting the bird in the am?
Believe me it will work. Wash, brine, dry, roast like a beast.
if i don’t get the turkey carcass to bring home, i’m thinking of getting a small turkey and doing the wash, brine, dry and roast a try myself.
evening, Suzzzz … happy tanksgiving, firegourds
Scheduled maintenance. I hate doing anything on “Black Friday”, because I feel it’s unfair to workers but it’s already a day I’m not getting paid for and I have to do it. I need an oil change and the timing belt is 10,000 past due for being changed. I have a new book to read while waiting though.
I’m starting the turkey when ever I get up. So I have to say good night to you guys early, or we’ll be eating at midnight.
I’m am so excited to have that owl hanging out in my yard, if only briefly, and only every now and then.
hiya ppd — happy turkey day eve. what are your plans?
necessary work is not shopping. they only thing they have in common is both leave a dent in your wallet.
g’nite tuez — one night i hope you have pix of your owl
I’m taking your word for it. Thanksgiving is all about fat. The crispier the skin, well, the more edible the fat.
Why is it 364 days of the year, that would be gross?
Good evening, Suz. Hello all you lln pups, and happy Thanksgiving to all!
I have always felt it was wrong to shop on holidays and refuse to. Now BF is not really a holiday, but normally I don’t cause I hate crowds, etc. (okay, last year I got a killer deal at Costco on a TV that they still haven’t matched).
hey past — how ya doing tonight?
Ted is home from college. All is well.
*retracting this* i misread tuez’ comment but i do still wish for photos of the owl one night :)
Yeah but I feel bad those people hafta be at work. I think I’ll bring kolaches.
hey coach — good to hear all is right :) how long is he home for?
Definitely NOT shopping!
that’s so sweet of you margaret. i’m sure they will appreciate it
I’m ready for turkey, stuffing & gravy tomorrow! The missus baked 10 pumpkin pies today for the festivities.
I’m hoping for a look myself. We did get pics of the little screech owls. Maybe we will get lucky with the big guys/birds. Mr/Mz Who whoo, who, whoo.
omg… how many folks are gonna be there? ten pumpkin pies!!!
I will probably drive him back on Sunday.
Better than doughnuts. Jalapeno kolaches con queso. That’ll wake you up! Yummy!
that would be so cool! when nahant had hawks in his yard, he shared the pics with us. loved seeing them. iirc it was a coopers hawk and am trying to remember if the nest was in his yard or near his yard
What the heck are you gonna do with 10 pumpkin pies? That sounds like potential slapstick comedy.
how long of a drive is that?
indeed! betcha they love them
Good on Clinton for brokering a peace though bad on the US for refusing to talk to Hamas and bad on Israel for not lifting the blockade. Seems like we’re back to square one but at least the slaughter has stopped in Gaza.
There’ll be sixteen to eighteen at mom-in-law’s house that I can think of right now. We give a couple pies to the next door neighbors, usually keep one at home, and take the rest. They get eaten!
i worry that its a temporary peace brokered just to get us past this weeks holiday and that it will not hold. it resolves none of the underlying issues.
mrs past must be one hecka good pie maker…
I’m cooking my own little feast:
Turkey breast, bean and corn casserole, stuffing, mashed potato, (only need one), yam, (again I only need one), mixed fruit cup, dinner rolls, chocolate chip cookies. Then eggnog spiked with Patron silver, (haven’t tried it yet but I’ll let you know), and Neko gets her favorite beef and liver dinner. Ought to stuff us both!
that sound you heard was my tummy growling
oooo that’s right — tis eggnog season! i love that stuff
Sherman is just about 300 miles from Houston.
it resolves none of the underlying issues.
Yeah, clearly that’s a problem. Those issues won’t be resolved until the US grows up and talks to the duly elective government in Gaza and Israel stops electing butchers for PM.
Aloha, Suz, and lln pups…! Happy Thanksgiving Eve…! ;-)
“… it will not hold. “
Got that right. It is a when question, not an if question.
not bad — stephanie is about 3,000 away from oregon in florida. she’s spending the day with a church family and feasting at their table. she could only afford to fly back to the midwest for christmas break and not both holidays.
how’s he adjusting to college life? steph is tired all the time
She makes good pies – mostly pumpkin, but once in a while, banana cream and lemon meringue. All good.
Sherman? On the Oklahoma border? I would have thought it further than 300 miles from Houstopolis.
until then there is a fragile truce until the next bloodbath begins…
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? are ya all set for tomorrow?
the thought of my mom’s ‘crummy apple pie’ (a dutch apple with a crumb topping) still makes my mouth water. she later married a baker and he never understood why his pies were not demolished like that one pie of mom’s was.
…Those issues won’t be resolved until the US grows up and talks to the duly elective government in Gaza and Israel stops electing butchers for PM…
Eggs-actly, Peg…! ;-)
Well my fundie boss is apparently not too discouraged about the election. My new book maker was delivered and installed this week and I ran my first job on it today. An odd size on a difficult stock made the learning curve steeper than it had to be and I think that’s why I was unable to drop off.
Sounds yummy, Margaret. I’d be interested to know how the tequila-eggnog turns out, never tried it with tequila before.
The college has been pushing the slogan; “Be Roosponsible”.
1. Go to class
2. Manage your time.
3. Get some sleep.
It seems to be working.
We got a very positive vibe chatting on the way home from the bus terminal. When we were pushing for a decision where to go last May, his biggest concern was that the other students “be like me”. He seems to have found some compatible pals and gets along well with his room mate.
hiya Suzzz — spending the day with our cousins — looking forward to it. What are your plans with your family?
Pretty much so…! Tho, I couldn’t brine one of my two turkeys, I didn’t have enough Hawaiian Rock Salt…! But, I’m sure I’ll make do…! ;-)
Exactly. Sherman on the OK border.
My new toy.
steph’s been out of high school for several years — its hard being a college freshman at 23 — she’s having to relearn all her study skills and having to cope with homework that never ends.
I haven’t either but as I don’t have any rum… I’ll let ya know. ;)
going over to jen’s friday for leftovers – turkey day dinner always tastes better the day after :)
I’ve been in Denton recently and that was almost 300 miles from Austin.
fork — ya couldn’t use regular salt?
whoa — that’s a serious machine…errr toy
Yeah… I was a freshman at 24 and didn’t get to be sophomore until 31, after I got out of the service! Talk about out of place. Yikes!
“… its hard being a college freshman at 23..”
I didn’t do all that well at 18. Dropped out, didn’t graduate till I was thirty.
she’s been working towards paying for college for the past couple years so she’s real motivated but its been an adjustment for her. her plans for the break was to sleep
Yep. On one of the visitation days we went from Houston to Sherman to Austin to Center Point and back to Houston. 1000 miles Friday to Sunday.
i think she’s a better student after being out in the real world fending for herself. she’s much more responsible and reliable and knows how to budget her time and wallet than she was back then
I’ve got a background in the much older 250 so when I learn all the options, I should be able to get good at operating it. The 250 was way more complex so they’ve simplified a lot of the design but it’s kind of dizzying, the amount of options this one has available. My favorite aspect? How quiet it is! I can hear my Ipod. w00t!
Center Point has some great kolaches too.
And that picture doesn’t show the fenders, which I stubbed my toe on first thing this morning. :(
tunes always make work easier. i used to tool around with a transister in my patrol car until they realized the cars had better resale value when they had the standard am/fm radio on them. just had to remember to turn down the volume before i keyed the mic :)
Center Point is where we take my daughter to camp. 550 miles RT from Houston
Left overs are the best — ‘specially after the election
i don’t think i’ve ever been so glad for an election to be forking over before in my life…
LMAO! Care for some feedback Mr/Ms Dispatcher?
I camp close to there a couple times a year. Just southwest of Kerrville in fact.
turned out they could hear the tunes quite well *blushing* and our autocad system told them whose mic had been keyed.
that forking little feature sure ended some radio hijink fun
I know I haven’t. Fuck! Excuse the language but Fuck!
it was fucking horrible margaret. i’m still watching only local news and i was in one of those states that didn’t matter
we say fuck a lot on lln margaret. a fucking lot
Gonna try to snooze again. Thanks for the lovely visit Late, late pupses.
Late, late night…where every thread is a fuck thread. Oyasumi nasai.
g’nite margaret – hope you fucking sleep well
A whole f*cking lot…! ;-)
Good nite Margaret.
Sweet dreams, Peg…!
well — could be worse, we could be eatin’ right overs, Suzzz
tis about time for token to save a tree. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight all.
night Suzzz – have a great holiday
G’nite Suz and sweet dreams! Gonna hit the hay too. Good nite CT, PPDCUS and lln pups. Happy Thanksgiving!
Sweet Dreams, Suz…!
Pleasant dreams, past…!
Cheers Mr Tut On the 99.
I know i am late and will be the goat.
Happy 100, Homeroid!
Happy T-Day everyone, especially the lovely Suzanne.
*heh* Didn’t even realize it…! Aloha, Homer and ET, how’s Alaska tonite…? The winds die down yet…?
Happy and safe Thanksgiving to all celebrating .. there is much to be thankful for, including the love and sharing this very site helps give venue to .. peace, all /s
Mostly – blowing 10-25 knots. 10 degrees F. Furnace has been out for five days, but the house woodstove is seeing more action than in 20 years. Tuning my chainsaw. To the key of B#
Aloha, tearloch…! How’s BC tonite…?
Any idea when you’ll have your furnace back up…?
Do you know that that Hasbarist twit is still at it…? ;-)
Hi Suz, just popping in to send you a wish for a very wonderful day of thanks. My laptop is dead, trying to figger out what next to do. Time for an upgrade all around, having a hard time to decide what to do.
Giving thanks for all my family and friends, their friends and families, the world is better today for no rockets and killing in Gaza.
happy turkey day bg – sorry to hear about your laptop :(
