Robert Randolph and the Family Band — I Don’t Know What You Came To Do.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening pups — hope you brought your dancing shoes — this tune is bound to get ya movin’
Ooh, luv that slide geetar, Suz…! ;-)
alohal tut — dood can sure play it…. i love how much fun the band is having playing. how’s paradise tonight? hear back from the munchkin’s doc yet?
Good evening all. How’s the weather on the left coast?
Aloha, Suz, no word yet, but, I babysat him today and his mop top seems to be as unruly as always…! ;-)
hey bev — how’s the other coast tonight? warmer here — tis a balmy 59 tonight when just a few nights ago i was getting down to 32 at night.
how mobile is he now? jules is getting pretty fast – well fast from my slow walking perspective *laughing*
Hi! Looking at the temp – 37 right now, will probably drop by morning, was 50 today, yesterday hight 60s. Guess winter is here now. Sleeted this morning during the commutes.
yuck! its always during the commute it seems :( timberline opened one ski lift this weekend – they are hoping for more snow so they can open the rest. i’m just hoping there’s no snow/ice next week when i head over cornelius pass to go to jen’s for turkey day. that’s the 1,000 ft level
voodoo
He can really scoot along, especially when he knows he did a no-no…! ;-)
Do you have all-season tires on your car, Suz…? We’ll be heading over to my daughter’s for Turkey Day too…!
Safe Travels. Gosh it is Thanksgiving next week, wow. I’ve gotta slow down, where did the year go?
i’ve got to take my chains to les schwab (where i bought them for the old car) and since i never used them, i should be able to trade them in for a set that fits. i’ll have them check the tires for me and tell me what kind they are.
it just dawned on me tonight that it is next forking thursday! lardy i thought there was another 2 weeks to go or so…
Guess who made fruitcake yesterday? We made two fabulous smelling cakes, bathed them in Shieldaig
“The Classice” blended scotch whiskey.
two drunk fruitcakes!!! woohoo… hey ce — how was your day?
i forget, ce — how much whiskey do ya share with them every day and for how long?
ain’t nothing wrong with that
I dread the thought of you having to grapple with those tire chains, best wishes for clear sailing, Suz…! *g*
Really, I sprinkle about 3 tablespoons once every few days. I bought a bottle of this scotch this summer when I visited my Dad (great selection in Delaware) and split the bottle with Marsha. One 750 ml bottle takes two cakes to heavenly drunkeness by Christmas.
i’ve avoided having to put on chains for 4 winters — am hoping to continue that record for this, my 5th winter up here. i hunker down inside real well
gonna have a wonderful flavor and be super moist by the time its ready for consumption.
You keep marinating it til Xmas, Christine…?
Yes, I do. Every other night or so until December 24. Then, cake, champagne (or tea) and celebrate!
Butter for two cakes: 14 tablespoons. Fruit and nuts: 5.1 pounds.
Since my mother died this year, I do mourn her love of my fruitcake. That said — how is everyone and plans for Thanksgiving? Suzanne is going over the mountains, I’m here with my entire family and friends. I feel really, really lucky.
well, its not a mt… just the west hills that separate me from the ‘burbs on portland’s west side. jen and her sisterinlaw, stacy, really put on a great turkey day. really good food — but no drunken fruitcake *laughing*
At 60, this is now my favorite holiday. I love it. And it is so late for me I’ll never get up on time! Goodnight All my FIredogs.
g’nite ce
traveling shoes
the march
Sweet dreams, CE…!
For Thanksgiving, pot luck at a friends I’m making:
Roasted Green Bean Bundles, Maple Glazed Sweet Potatoes, and Parmesan, Basil and Lemon Wafers – and buying a Sweet Potato Pie (a must to get in the door)
yum! jen says that all i have to bring is myself (and a container to bring leftovers home in) — i try to snag the carcass so i can make thanksgiving soup the next day
How do you make the roasted green bean bundles, Bev…?

they looked interesting for a party. most recipes are good from this magazine
oh my those look good!
i did thanksgiving dinners for years — i found it an easy meal to prepare. the first year i did it i had been married for about a year and a half and invited my dad, a retired cook from the navy, and his wife. i was so nervous – especially since i hadn’t done that meal before, but i breezed right through it. hardest part is getting everything timed right.
The Parmesan, Basil and Lemon Wafers (frico) are always a hit.
1 cup Shredded Parmsean
2 Tbs Shredded Basil Leaves
1/2 tsp Grated Lemon Zest
Preheat oven to 400
Mix ingredients in bowl. Transfer a heaping tablespoon of mixture onto a silicone (or parchment) sheet, lightly pat down – place 1/2 inch apart. Bake 3-5 min or until golden and crisp. cool, use spatula to transfer to dish.
i’ve seen giada delaurentiis fix her version of those on her food network show — they look so easy and yummy! i can’t wait to hear how your fixins turned out post turkey day bev
I have the traditional turkey and fixins at home on Friday – but with parties – I just grab a new recipe or two each year, seems to work. I usually forget what I made the year before.
That does look delish, and easy-peasy, just blanch’em and bake’em…! ;-)
CT – you cooking this year?
I’m looking forward to the “traditional deviled eggs” someone brings – he didn’t know a clove of garlic was not the whole thing! wow – they clear you sinuses.
a happy little mistake
You betcha, turkey, stuffing, butternut squash, taters, gravy, biscuits…! Not sure what veggies I’ll do this year, I’ll see what strikes my fancy at the farmers market…! Those green bean bundles look good…! ;-)
that is great
Oh yes, sounds like a real dinner! and leftovers!
i love watching him on wednesdays at noon on oregon pbs…
I grew up watching him, he still is fascinating when I come across a video or show on PBS.
i dvr the shows — that way i can be in ‘my happy little place’ when i need them — i got totally rehooked when i was in the hospital bed
sorry to be fading peeps — today was another pain pill day and my typo to error ratio is running about every other word *laughing*
thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all
I shared a cartoon the other day, on FB, that had the subtitle; In an alternate universe… and it had a tree painting Bob’s face on a canvas…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Good night, hope tomorrow is better.
CT – guess I’ll call it a night, ran out of gas, will have to finish these emails in the morning (2:30a here now).
Take Care, all.
Good night.
Sweet dreams, Bev…!
