Ray Charles — Hit The Road Jack, with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, January, 1981.
What’s on your mind?
What are the chances Romney crawls back under a rock, where he belongs?
Romney concedes….. and I think your song choice is appropriate. Enough!
hey tuez — how’s florida tonight?
thanks dearie :) how’s the ‘nard tonight?
All good in the ;Nard. I’m torturing myself by peeking in at Fox … just amazing how deluded those folks are.
Obama just won Virginia….. 303 electoral votes. Fla. still too close. And the officials got tired and went home. Who cares?!
Okay, I had to turn off Fox…. they are lunatics and lying liars.
Gotta love that music!
. . . and don’t you come back no more no more . . .
Florida is good. Once again, we voted down some nasty repug amendments, including one that would have allowed state funding of churches (WTF), and people here don’t seem to be buying the taxes are bad meme.
And, really encouraging, the reason Florida hasn’t been called yet is because the lines in Miami-Dade and Orange (Orlando) counties were so long people are still voting. Maybe people are figuring this out.
the night time is the right time
hot dayam — virginia!
Election Results for Michelle Bachman
195 of 280 precincts reporting, she leads by 697 votes. Cross your fingers!
And that was on Fox. I don’t see it yet on MSNBC.
hey peterr — i’m so glad that we can sing this song to all those goppers – especially the ones with rape issues. you just aint no good
how ya doing tonight?
mail in ballots — nationally. i love oregon’s voter mail system.
hey dave — how’s colorado tonight? i hope she forking loses…. please oh please oh please
That would be another bright spot today.
you don’t know me
Election results for Allen West
down by 974 votes, but it doesn’t say how many votes are left to count.
*heh* Ray playing with my Hometown homies in Edmonton…!
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I was just watching Rmoney’s concession speech on Faux Spew, and the first pinhead said; Obama must be humbled moving forward…! *click* As if…! ;-)
Heh heh. what’s on our minds? Whaddya think?!!! Relief, I guess. No need to be an “Obamabot” to be relieved we won’t have to suffer Mitt Romney. A man who loves his family, his church, and all the folks who are just like him. Everybody else…meh.
I don’t love Obama, but truly believe Romney would be dangerous and destructive.
Sadlly, I couldn’t get on fdl much of the night, or couldn’t stay on, so I commented on facebook tonight. First election in a long time I wasn’t following an fdl liveblog.
Toobz just overwhelmed, I guess. Saw a stat on Twitter that more than 20 million tweets by that point, making election the most tweeted event ever.
Suz !
I was hoping that Bachman and Allen West lose, but then again we need some crazies around for entertainment …
Continues to be beautiful. There is supposed to be some rain come in later in the week.
Been watching that one all night.
Charles Pierce has a great tweet:
Having seen Akin go down in flames, as well as Mourdock in IN, I’m doing pretty good. Add in Maine and Maryland voting in favor of marriage equality, and I’m a happy camper.
in honor of colorado and washington state
unfortunately oregon’s measure went down in flames *sigh*
Yeah, hard to choose among Pierce’s great comments.
Please, please, please let us get rid of these two clowns; they, too are dangerous for democracy.
aloha tut — how’s paradise tonight? nice diary you put up about last night’s action dood
And Tammy Baldwin’s win.
And Maryland passed an intiative approving a state “Dream” Act. Not sure of its exact provisions, but it’s a good thing. done by voters!!!!
Oh, and I found this interesting. Today I wore my 99% is better than 1% t-shirt to vote, seemed fitting, besides getting kudos for having a great t-shirt, as I was leaving a woman who I had pegged for a 70 something, well-heeled repug, told me she was heartened to see me and my t-shirt. Evidently, she spent a lot of time cooking for and feeding Occupy Orlando and was glad the idea was still alive and well.
hey tejan — fdl had some hosting issues earlier but it appears to be working fine now. i sure hope all the bickering and bitching and name calling ceases (and yes i would like a pony too)
how’s texas tonight?
Hi y’all! I guess it’s safe to say the RNC’s going to give some serious reconsidering to the whole pro-rape agenda…
petro! how’s toronto tonight? whatcha got on tap?
Mahalo, Suz, I had some fun…! ;-)
fingers and toes crossed ya get rain dave… ya’ll are way way way overdue
i heart charles pierce
Next time for sure. Colorado’s first legalization amendment failed. California’s failed. The zeitgeist is with us. This is going to be the next big issue. Hopefully the Democrats aren’t too stupid to adopt it.
wa state voted for marriage equality too :)
How cool! I think the pols and pundits who wrote off Occupy as “done” may be surprised over the next year or two. Foundation laid…will be very interesting to see where they go now.
I love love love!!!! that Occupy is helping people in New York and New Jersey.
yay! what a great affirmation and from someone you were not expecting it from
hey scarlet! how’s the bay area tonight? good to see your fonts again dood
Occupy here in the Isles certainly won’t be lying down on the job, tj…! ;-)
i believe to my soul
Yeah, I bet the pressure has eased some..less obssessive refreshing going on, lol.
Texas is/was gorgeous today. As I left court in Pearsall (55 mi south) this morning I noticed the sky was pure blue, not a single cloud. One of those days when you wonder how Montana grabbed the moniker of “Big sky country.” (pace Dr Dick).
Going loooow tonight…upper 50′s maybe. (feral – less so all the time– cat happily ensconced in his bed in the kitchen for the night)
I don’t know about that.
There’s a sizable chuck of the GOP that will be shouting tomorrow that the problem with the GOP is that they weren’t conservative enough. “We waffled and flipflopped. We equivocated and evaded. We ducked and dodged. What we need is candidates who will stand up and be apologetically conservative!”
I got a robocall from Rick Santorum over the weekend, pushing a rightwinger for MO attorney general. He lost, thank God, but I was really struck by Santorum injecting himself into a downticket race in a state like Missouri. Santorum is clearly betting that the GOP is going to go MORE conservative in the wake of a Romney loss, and he wants to be there to pick up the pieces.
i checked the weather radar map this afternoon and was surprised to see that most of the country wasn’t having bad weather.
I think Occupy is just waiting for something to piss it off again. Should take about 5 minutes.
The cool temps mean I have two cats curled up tight against each other on my lap. But my eyelids are drooping, so I gotta wake ‘em up so I can get up and go to bed.
Hadda wait to see the concession speech, just for the sake of schadenfreude.
Hoped to see Pres’s victory speech, but don’t think (yawn) I’m gonna make it.
G’night, all. I plan to sleep very well. *g*
heh. Suze – good weather always helps election turnout, too. I can remember voting in some damn cold and nasty wet weather in Mass. and Pennsylvania. Brrrrr.
say no more
Alan West is down by 900 votes. rachel says.
g’nite tejan
hey senator — how’s sacramento tonight?
“We waffled and flipflopped. We equivocated and evaded. We ducked and dodged. What we need is candidates who will stand up and be apologetically conservative!”
How very true, Peterr, and very sad…! 8-(
I’m checking out, too. Been a long day for me, and tomorrow will be, too.
G’nite. It was nice to run into your fonts tonight.
aretha and ray
g’nite peterr
NBC now saying that Allen West has LOST!
Pleasant dreams, Rev and tj…!
Clapping wildly.
Florida is mostly getting things right tonight.
Lots of things going right tonight.
Oh Happy Day
WOOT!!!!!!
Oh hell.
WOOT!!!!!
holy moly i’ve turned on msnbc now — was watching local news
i got a woman music starts 2 min in…
and he takes the podium…
to the song signed sealed and delivered
Suze! Pups! Can’t believe i’m up late enough to be live on the thread. I’ve been busy following various election updates since i got home from my minnesota daughter’s house at 10pm, and fb’ing it to my NYC daughter.
and can you believe? THE BITCH MIGHT GO DOWN! *bites nails anxiously* at one point tonight bachmann was 50%, so was graves.
ndfg! i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed so hard they are cramping….. how ya been?
Morning has Broken
*heh* I thought that was an excellent choice…! KKKarl’s head must’ve imploded…! ;-)
ray and johnny (one of my fav versions of this song)
hehehehe
Fingers and toes crossed, ndfg…!
Just think of how much money was spent, and the progressives made a dent tonight. Being in a swing state, let me tell ya, almost every fuckin’ ad on TV was a political ad and probably half, or more from one of KKKarl’s groups. I didn’t vote for Obama, but I am so glad the people of this country told Rove and all to shove it.
i wonder if rove and the rest of his ilk will hear the message
Good evening Suz and lln pups! Glad to see those cretins Akin and Mourdock go down, what a pleasure to witness that!
204 of 280 precincts reporting, Bachman leads by 573
hey past — how’s utah tonight?
fuck. does this mean it will go to a recount since its so close?
Dunno. I think this is as close as anyone has gotten to defeating her. Might have something to do with spending all her time running for Prez.
Most indubitably, tuez…! The US Chamber of Commerce sunk big $$$ here in the Isles, and both, Lingle and D’jou are losing big time…! ;-)
Doubtful. They only hear what they want to hear.
mine are cramping because of the two amendments on the ballot in minnesota, one is to amend the state constitution to define marriage as only between a man & a woman, and the other is a horrid teathuglican restrictive voter ID amendment. VOTE NO ON BOTH. ooops, election is over, i can stop yelling about it.
i think MN has an automatic recount if the vote difference falls below a set amount. i think i read it somewhere earlier tonight i think
are they both too close to call?
That might be for the best, as not all ballots are actually counted unless there is a recount.
Democracy renews itself. Vote the old bastards out, vote the new bastards in.
Imma gonna wrap this day up. Goodnight, peeps.
g’nite dave
G’nite Dave.
211 of 280 precincts reporting,
Graves takes the lead by 1157!!!!!
The CoC spent big money here too and their amendments went down in flames.
WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOOO
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTT
TTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*edited by suz to save the margins*
Oh, sorry, didn’t mean for that to happen.
oh lardy this is gonna go down to the wire and then the judges gotta review the photo finish…. its a real horse race
michelle has to be one very unhappy woman tonight — i hope she gets unhappier
i fixed it
Dayam, it’s been a long time since somebody had last busted the margins…!
i was laughing and thinking the same thing when i used my magic powers
Thank you. I didn’t mean to be so rude. Of course, it looks like shit cause I didn’t preview. Oh, well, I’m so happy for the few gains we made tonight, I got carried away.
99…?
Doin’ good Suz, pourin’ a glass of cutty on the rocks, anyone care to join me? Cheers, here’s to you lln pups!
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 tuez
its ok to be exuberant tonight — its been a fairly good one
It’s the killer weed I scored from Colorado tonight. Magical powers and all.
with 771 write in’s, too bad they weren’t in the Dem colume.
any surprises in the utah results tonight? i’ll take a wee wee itzy bitzy tiny drop — today was a pain pill day
Wow, I haven’t stayed up late enough to score the lucky 99 in at least a year.
hey sunshine — how ya doing tonight?
then double congrats are in order tuez….
at the moment it looks like it, but Minneapolis hasn’t finished counting ballots … thanks to our rethuglican legislature, redistricting caused extremely long lines at some polling places, and not much of a wait at others. According to one report, people were still in line at 10pm to vote in minneapolis. the amendments need 50% plus one vote to pass. right now marriage is at 49.16, and voter id is at 47.73. the minneapolis precincts that are starting to trickle in are ranging from 20% yes to 39% yes. I’m hopeful they will be defeated, but still nervous.
we need a national mail in ballot like dday posted about today
Slidin’ a glass over to ya now! Yes, Jim Matheson (D) just came on to give his acceptance speech, he won over the Repub token Mia Love in a very close race in heavily gerrymandered district 4. All the polls had her winning by 6 to 12 points.
wow… that’s way kewl past… nice to see that kinda upset!
woohoo, looks like minneapolis is turning the tide, i’ve had mnprogressiveproject up to watch these, and “yes” is starting to drop for both as minneapolis comes in.
::happy dance:
most excellent news ndfg!!!
ndfg, Jim Graves posted this recently…
We pulled ahead for the first time.
125627 JIM GRAVES
124470 MICHELE BACHMANN
75.36% reporting
hiya Suzzzz — quite a finish to the whore’s race, eh?
hey ppd — how’s the monterey bay tonight? how’s california’s propositions doing?
Hey LLN pups! Never get to see y’all live.
Heres hoping Bachman goes down.
hey oldnslow! how the heck ya been? good to see your fonts tonight
Holy Shit! Just saw the CTut’s 115. Wow.
whew. i’m exhausted, my last happy news is that the DFL (Democratic Farmer Labor [Party]) has regained control of the minnesota legislature. as a commenter elsewhere said, “GOP squandered their rule by lying about not going after social issues, but economic issues, and then going after social issues.”
the comment i made earlier about the goopers redistricting in minneapolis hence the long lines? guess, i dare you, as to the predominant pigmentation of the long line precincts vs the short line precincts. *spits* i am glad the rethugliKKKans got the boot in minnesnowta.
msnbc just called virginia for obama
Just got outta bed in the middle of the night to see our President say “OK 4 more years” or something like that.
(Can’t remember the last time I was live at the LLN)
good to see ya, oldnslow! awesome about bachman, eh? i didn’t dare hope graves could do so well.
mostly happy at how well teh gaii issues/supporters did. we did very well tonight, despite a lot of the pedophilia mafia money thrown against us. thank you, most esp, WI! our first openly queer senator is a big, big deal.
When I went to bed Virginia was solid for romney. Wow is all I got.
i can’t remember either…. of course my brain sure acts like your name nowadays *laughing*
hey chicago dyke! so good to see ya tonight… how ya been?
sigh, minnesota public radio’s latest update shows:
batshit-crazy – 50.3%
jim graves – 49.7%
81.4% reporting.
fuck
Hey ndfg. Thanks to all up there for sending that horrid woman home instead of back to DC.
Big congrats to CO and WA on pot. Let the fight begin. I can’t help but see this going to the supremes. That said, I can’t help but see it as the beginning of the end for prohabition.
but on the bright side, US House District 8 has been declared for Nolan, ousting chip cravaack, a smarmy little paul ryan wanna-be.
fuuuck. (please, oh please, oh please)
Of all the assholes the R party has on the national stage I wanted her to go away the most.
*wow* It’s truly neck’n neck to the final vote is cast, and counted, eh…?
How’s that wheel healing up? Ya OK?
props are all over the map. Looks like 30 will pass to fund schools. GMO labelling is failing because of $ millions in advertising against.
naw — everything is back on hold until feb when the docs make a determination as to whether or not my leg bone is alive or dead.
i pretty much stay home except for trips to the store. gotta take it easy and make sure i don’t blow out the knee — which it is at risk of doing.
yay and fuck. i was really hoping food labeling would pass
my life sucks, Suz. but i can be happy about a few things, including our first lesbian senator and grayson returning to congress. voters endorsing equality is also a shockingly happy making reason to be up at this hour. you?
i’m hanging in and hanging on. i keep myself distracted by planning the decorating of my first christmas tree in about 10 years.
i am so damn proud of my home state for electing Tammy Baldwin. She is awesome.
We all voted for it, but Monsanto changed that old margarine commmercial — it’s not nice to fool Mother Nature — to don’t f-ck with multinational ag corporations — you’ll eat what we say, or starve.
Anyone hear results about prop 37 (labeling GMO foods) in CA?
crazy eyes could still go down, people. it’s been a good run tonight for the ‘crats.
really, setting aside my usual far lefty ‘tude, tonight seems to be proof that the great demographic shift is upon us, at long last. it’s been clear for at least the last three elections that the only way the party of the grumpy old white dood can win is to lie, cheat, control the media and/or steal, if not kill. setting aside for the moment the argument about how today’s democratic party is to the right of nixon, it’s heartening to know two things: 1) despite Citizens United, a lot of low information types stuck with the n***** and even voted in favor of the dyke/faggot downticket and 2) this whole social media thingee seems to be working. not fast enough to please purists like me, but working still. i am impressed by the number of people commenting tonight who are like “bitch, you better bring it” and “very few get mandate #2, use it or lose it” and the like. back in the old days, people like me would’ve had our heads cut off just for popping up with comments like that. i’m very glad a lot of progressives and liberals are brave enough to say that “victory” isn’t enough, tonight.
frankenfoods should be illegal. period.
Yippee kiyay, MOTHERFUCKER!
Just saw PPDCUs answer at 136. That is not looking good. Shit (literally)!
hey that guy — how ya doing tonight? *laughing* don’t hold back *more laughing*
whatever you do, DO NOT read paulo’s “the calorie man.” you won’t sleep for a month. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=the+calorie+man
Suz, ya gotta hep me…ya gotta get our prezzie to go after his agenda like a crazed dog.
i wish i had that ability dood…. i send him letters and he don’t even know my name when i get form letter replies…
Suz, have you ever known me to hold back? ;-D
The least he could do is call you by name…
CA ballot measure totals are here http://vote.sos.ca.gov/returns/ballot-measures/
*laughing* i was yanking your chain dood — ya left it out there all dangley
shriek & jump up and down for joy, AP calls FAIL for both minnesota amendments. I am a happy farmgrrrlll and will go to bed now.
Thanks for letting me hang with you a bit and yammering at you about minnesota politics. MWAH!
kinda like that david allen coe song… it was all i could do to keep from crying
woot!!! *one legged snoopy happy dance* most excellent ndfg
jeebus.. tweety (chris matthews) just said he was glad we had that storm last week
thanks. Too bad, but they got 45% yes votes even with all the $$ stacked against them. They should keep putting it on every future ballot until it passes. And in the meantime, keep educating people about GMO’s. Educate enough people and it will pass no matter how much $$ the opposition has.
on that note, tis time for me to get horizontal. my pill is kicking in – my typo to error ratio has gone to shit.
thanks for letting me hang out tonight with ya… fingers and toes crossed we ended up telling a lot of these fuckers to hit the road jack up and down the ballot.
g’nite all
Looks like Dan Lundgren is losing by a small margin – good riddance.
I just crawled out from under the bed. Are we at war with Iran yet? Is Karl Rove secretary of defense?
Good night Suz. Thanks for lettin me hang out with you. Wishing you all the best the universe has to offer.
Not yet but I’m pretty sure I heard bennie netenyahoo’s head explode a few hours ago. So we got that going for us.
night Suzzz – be well
I doubt i will invest in casino stocks any time soon. Adelson.
Sweet dreams, Suz. G’nite everyone. Oldnslow, good to see you here, come by again.
Something we should all remember: The Dems did pretty well in this election, despite the unprecedented amount of dirty tricks the Republicans threw at them. The Republicans can’t be happy about that.
It would appear that Attaturk isn’t here this morning. Good morning, pups! Today we have Friedman flying solo. MoDo, praise God, is off today. Heaven only knows what she would have come up with… In “Hope and Change: Part Two” The Moustache of Wisdom says the people clearly told the president: We think you’re trying. Now try even harder. Which might be possible, Tommy, if there weren’t people like McConnell and Boehner stinking up the Congress…
Here he is.
The coffee and tea are ready, and before the servers died last night there were requests for French toast made with challah and a hint of cinnamon, with the best Vermont maple syrup. The rest of the brunch table is filled with your favorites. I can’t decide between that French toast or an omelet… Also, greenwarrior made a request for halvah, an idea from a friend who said it was great at brunch. Here’s hoping that the servers are all better. Have a great day.
My fear? That they’ll just double down, figuring that they weren’t “pure” enough. The recriminations may be amusing to watch, though.
I’m sure they aren’t happy at all. But I think the smart money will look at this as the first post Citizen United election and thus a learning experience. They’ll see what worked and what didn’t and come back next time with a more potent package.
Boxturtle (I think the GOP knew they were toast weeks ago)
Alternative message: We don’t care much for you or what you’ve done so far, but we like the thought of Mitt less.
Boxturtle (I could think of other, less flattering, messages)
I’m here…I just shouldn’t have tried to publish my morning’s post last night at midnight when it was … a little busy for the server.
Now that I’ve woken up…it is now up.
That was phrased awkwardly.
x2. Their next presidential candidate will be somewhat to the right of Frothy.
Boxturtle (Christie is already running, IMO)
