It is election night and so far things are looking good for President Obama. The exit polling, which is not always accurate, currently has Obama winning in the critical swing state of Ohio.
8:00 pm – Polls are now closed in roughly half the states but none of the important races have been called yet.
8:04 pm – Based on exit polls, things are looking good for Senate Democrats. The exit polling shows Democrats leading in the contested Senate races in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Missouri.
8:05 pm – Independent candidate Angus King has been declared the winner in the Maine Senate race. King has not said which party he will caucus with but it is assumed he will caucus with the Democrats.
8:15 pm – With 55% reporting in Florida Romney is winning 50% to 49%. It is close but Florida is looking good for Romney. Much of pan handle has not been counted yet.
8:30 pm – The polls are now closed in Arkansas.
8:40 pm – The Connecticut Senate race has been called for Democrat Chris Murphy.
9:07 pm – CNN is projecting that the Republicans will keep control of the House.
9:25 pm – AP projects that in Ohio Sherrod Brown (D) will keep his senate seat.
9:46 pm – Big News. CNN is projecting that Elizabeth Warren (D) will unseat Scot Brown (R) in the Massachusetts senate race. They are also projecting the Democrat Joe Donnelly will win the Indiana Senate. It is likely what cost the GOP the seat was Richard Mourdock’s statement about rape.
10:00 pm – Another round of polls close including Iowa and Nevada.
10:09 pm – Sen. Claire McCaskill (D), who is perhaps the luckiest politician alive, just won re-election in Missouri. This is the other Senate seat that the GOP lost thanks to comments about rape.
10:15 pm – Massachusetts voters approve medical marijuana.
10:20 pm – It is still early but things are looking good for marijuana legalization so far. In Colorado with 19% reporting Amendment 64 leads 52.2% yes to 47.8% no.

Sup Jon!
I’m really interested in the marijuana legislation on various ballots. It’ll be great to see how those turn out.
It’s going to be a long night, I think, for the MO senate race. Akin got a lot of late SuperPac support, which has made every pollster and media outlet nervous about how this will play out. They’re going to wait for more actual results to come in than they otherwise would before they call this one way or another.
Florida

O 50.8%
Mitt 48.5%
@forwardourmotto
Hopefully he doesn’t try to open any windows RT @illusory_tenant Rmoney on an airplane making excuses already.
My EPU from downstairs, Nate has FL light blue today, it was trending more pink than red, now he has it pale blue.
Bwahaha. They GOP will want to count ALL the dimpled chads now.
Lulz. That window thing never gets old.
If Mittens was good for anything, it was the laughs.
For everyone’s viewing please … Mitt Romney Style.
Over on Freeper they have a headline that Romney has only written a victory speech. I guess he won’t bother appearing on camera when he loses.

@Ian_Murphy
I’m going to go ahead and call New York for Obama, Allah willing. Love you, @DineshDSouza! #prog12
Ian Murphy’s the guy who pranked Scott Walker into thinking he was David Koch.

I am getting the results from Common Dreams.
That’ll be great. We won’t have to watch him tonight!
I heard that, too, with the word count….;(
ooops. Florida just flip back to MItt.
@dan_verg_
Bill O’Reilly: “you’re supposed to sprint to the finish line, not coast like the governor’s team did.” And so it begins…
Huge Latino vote for O across the nation.
When I heard that, it gave the word count….Who cares?
Grayson’s up 62%

Murphy wins Conn Senate race.
Obviously the servers are scrod. I’ll be back tomorrow morning.
Great news
Interesting. O winning Jewish vote in FL by 40%.
Big counties aren’t in yet, mary. Brevard, Broward, Duval, Hillsborough, Miami-Dade, etc.
NBC just called Pennsylvania for Obama.
CNN is calling the House for Republicans. Boehner will remain Speaker.
Obama recorded exactly 1 robocall for a House member. “In states like California, Obama could have helped several Democrats, but refused, using the state instead as his personal ATM”.
That is the best news of the night. If the Thugs were going to pull of grand theft larceny it was going to go through PA. This means game over for Obama. Lesser of two weevils.
Scarecrow!
Good news.
Site problems for me. Don’t know if I’m the only one.
I may try to take a short nap, because it might be a long evening. Or maybe not.
We’ll see. One day at a time, eh?
Hugs to you.
Are we back?
Sorta.
Why are we having problems?
Wisconsin called for O.
C’mon servers – be nice! RUN dammit, RUN!
Last minute, NBC calls Wisconsin for Obama. Earlier called PA for Obama.
NBC, Sherrod Brown wins in Ohio.
Nice to see that handle.
I’m hearing news that I like.
Happy, happy for more good news to come.
Agree. It’s good for the effort we have to mount starting tomorrow.
Grayson wins!
Yay! Scarecrow!
How can anyone believe these results from corporate machines and their parity with the 1% in one day/evening being valid. I voted two weeks ago.
Anyone who made up their mind who to vote for since that last debate has no idea what’s going on in this country. These last two weeks have been a massive media spin by the big money, for the big money which runs our government into a dumbocracy of fear, and squabbling over what’s left over after (our?) congress, and treasury manipulators take there insane profits.
Down goes Mourdock!
(per MSNBC)
Warren takes Brown down in MA (per MSNBC)!
Wall Street will open down tomorrow on that news.
Funny how that God’s will works.
I’m kidding you know.
But, I have to be honest and tell you I’ve been prayin’ on this stuff.
Wow. Liz Warren beats Brown, per NBC. Hooray! Plus Obama takes New Hampshire
Warren wins per nbc
Good for Warren…very good news….
Has Fox News declared Romney the winner?
Definitely a good thing. Unfortunately, the Senate has a way of taking the fight out of anyone who is left of center.
Yay – Warren and Med Marijuana both in MA!
O has Florida. It’s OVER.
Good to see teabaggers take a beating. Don’t shed any tears, they all have jobs at Fox News or one of the many right wing Belief Tanks.
In Montana, maybe.
Nice to see you, Scarecrow.
What in the world is wrong with this site??
Sorry for the site issues. Seems to be a hosting issue. Our programmers are working on it.
Hummer is running through scenarios (wannabe John King style)
How does Jesse Jackson Jr. win when no one’s seen him in public for six months?
Then again DiFi will win without campaigning, despite being the most horrid Democrat on the planet.
Where did you see that?
Frank Luntz should write Mitt’s concession speech. The righties would be left with the impression that Mitt actually won the election.
McKaskill wins per nbc
Oh the horror! Romney votes are being “flipped” to President Obama votes. I predicted this. How can these computer voting machines ever be trusted again? It is happening in Kansas and Ohio. Fortunately, no Obama votes have been flipped to Mittens Boo Boo.
He’s leading with south Florida still out.
Ia looking good for O.
Fox like a morgue.
Yay -bless the techs; the servers have returned!
I seem to have access again.
Not happy about calling the House for the Republicans, but without a larger margin it just may not happen. I’m going to wait for more actual races to be called, though.
Colorado Proposition 64 (MJ Legalization) 52.4 to 47.6 ; 1.3 million votes counted
lets hope the servers or whatever keep working.
Ryan cost him the election.
NBC has got to have the most pro conservative coverage ever. It’s like reading FOX.com. Calling states for Obama looooooong after CNN does and calling them for Rmoney before. Maybe the struggle over there is over and the wingers at verizon won.
If the Senate Democrats remove the Repug’s ability to filibuster, then the pressure will be on BONER and he’s a crybaby.
You mean comcast. I think
Fl seems long way to go. NBC says pan handle still out.
Joe Walsh is gone, Tammy Duckworth is in.
Duckworth wins. Mr. “I don’t have to pay child support” is gone. YAY!
No
Whichever evil, giant telecom…
It’s going to be really interesting (fun, even) to watch the GOP Brass try to stuff the Teabaggers back into wherever it is they came from.
Watch Karl Rove tap dance, the slimy, sub-reptilian life-form.
Yes, that has to happen.
EXCLUSIVE! Romney Concession speech outsourced to China – LEAKED! 笑了起来。你这个愚蠢的人。仍然在购买越来越多的工厂在中国。不过不纳税。就看你的星球科罗布!
‘Buzz is right. Most of the votes that are still out are from the south Florida area, and that’s heavily democratic.
There’s no way that Romney can make up even a 2% deficit there.
Put it this way: John Boehner is about to return to being the de facto head of the republican party, and
we will now embark on another four years of “bipartisan” gridlock, or possibly, worse, depending on how accommodating Obama feels toward the republicans now that he’s been re-elected with a ton less clout than he had in 2008.
Well, at least we won’t get any more flat-earth SCOTUS picks…..I think.
Didn’t I tell you that report about Brown was absurd?
What’s the matter with Wisconsin?
Did this prove you can’t buy an election? Just wondering.
I love you confidence as I take another swallow of my scotch.
ROTFLMAO!
CNBC calls Ryan the winner in his House race.
Ryan
I would dearly love to hear it.
A Republican House gives Obama the cover he wants to gut SS and Medicare. We’ll be back to President Lawnchair, folding at the least gust of wind. It also precludes any hope of anything constructive happening. Another four years of kicking the can down the road while the world burns.
I’m assuming ZEGS is holding onto his seat in the House, right? It would be sweet justice to see that piece of shit thrown out on his ass. And speaking of Ayn Rand…
Fuck!!! x2
Do I have four more years of broken record to listen to around here then?
Hahahaha!!!!
On the upside, he was able to peel some cool $Millions out of the deal…
Hey. We’ve got our big girls and boys panties on.
Don’t you fret. S’all Good.
I wish he was unemployed. On the other hand, I’d rather see him in the House of Representatives than in the White House.
CO – Jill Stein 3093 votes, Roseanne Barr 2050 votes.
Even a washed-up celebrity is a boost to your ticket, I guess. Hey, could we get Lindsey Lohann to run on the Green ticket next time?
Pop it into google translate… heh
Yup. That’s what we’re celebrating. All hail the Lesser of Two Evils! Four more years!
We don’t have Fox, but I assume they’re into conspiracy theories by now.
Romney. What a rotten candidate.
Copy that. While it’s true that Willard is awful, ZEGS elicits spasms of actual physical revulsion in me. He’s a true-believing, crazy-ass MF…
Interestingly, Virgil Goode at 2763 votes. Two thirds of CO Republicans voted for Tancredo on the Constitution Party line two years ago, I figured that would be good for a least one or two percent, but I guess not.
Is it possible for you to give it a rest for a few hours? Please?
Very good. Ha! What’s the corporate tax rate on Kolob?
The Democrats are kicking ass in the Senate races though.
They’ve gotta be swilling Kool Aid by the barrel at this point…
How is Tammy Baldwin doing?
Amendment 64 update – now 1.5 million votes
Yes 52.74%
No 47.26%
I think she won. Kos seems to think so.
I just don’t think the repubs will be distraught about not getting the White House. I know, they’d like to load up the Supreme Court with some more, and YOUNGER, peckerhead jurists, but I think that another 4 years of the status quo is going to fuck things up so badly that in 2016 they can run Bristol Palin and win everything.
Right about now, John Boehner is yawning and scratching his balls and thinking about new ways to humiliate Preznint Obama.
Not to mention the thoroughgoing hack and all-around steaming pile, Mitch McConnell.
“The democrats are kicking ass…”
Yes! Why, I’ll bet they wind up with an 18 seat majority and will accomplish all kinds of good, populist, changes.
