g’evening pups — how ya doing tonight?
Hi Suz, I’ll be a short timer here tonight.
Hiya Suzanne and bgrothus!
hey bg — how did it go today?
hey ce — so glad you have power again! how much of cleveland still is without power?
It was fine, a little sad, but OK. Lots to do tomorrow.
We voted today at the Cleveland Board of Elections. It was incredible! We arrived at 12:15 pm and waited around the block for about 45 minutes. During that time we were given coffee, hot cocoa, water and Democratic voter guides. And then Stevie Wonder appeared on the next block, by the church steps. We were, all, is that really him? But I think it was…standing in line with the happiest people ever. Anyway, it took about an hour and a half to vote, and we had a wonderful time chatting with voters. Lots of every generation one could describe. Babies to Grandmas.
tis another day towards your goal… soon you will be able to look back and see how much you accomplished (and in a short amount of time i might add)
Hi CE, life getting back on track there? My friends in NYC talking about bleach/mold now. Exhausting, worrisome, and just plain awful.
hiya Suzzz — how’s everything tonight?
wow — how wonderful ce! sounds like time did not drag in your line…. what a lively group!
hiya ppd — i’m hanging in… chu?
That is the best way to vote, with a crowd! Not to mention Stevie, wow!
evening, firegods
I don’t know. Some in my neighborhood is still dark. All I DO know is that there are trucks from Indiana here. Amazing.
But the voting machines were working, WE HOPE!
just relaxing tonight – watching Bound for Glory
utility companies are coming to the areas hit from all over the country. red cross is sending more volunteers too. tonight on the news they had an interview with a second group of local s/a headed east….
sounds like a great way to spend your evening — relaxing :)
Voting at the BOE was amazing. We marked our ballots, folded them twice, into the envelope, and the put them in a box with a lock on it. Like last century.
Folks giving out coffee and food, young and old, everyone was celebrating. Gosh, I LOVED it.
what a positive experience for everyone…. all voting should be ilke that…
going over my ballot — you know California – lots of Koch Bros. wolf in sheep’s clothing initiatives that need to be voted down
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I’m always Hungry like the Wolf…! ;-)
When we switched to paper ballots, people talked about how we were going backwards, but now, people totally get it and no one complains at all. Gotta have the paper. It should be standard all across the country.
Is this like, FEMA reorganized ,like Obama and Chris Chrisie described?
so CE — you and Mr. CE put Obama over the top by two votes in Ohio? Thanks!!!
aloha tut — was wondering if someone was gonna make that connection… how’s paradise tonight?
Totally.
Actually by 4. Us and MsCE and Ted.
hiya CT – we’re rolling back an hour tonight, but not you guys in paradise
i don’t know. just know that i’e seen reports of kansas city untility in new jersey and other reports… yours was the first i had heard about in ohio….
arizona doesn’t roll either
I’m a happy camper, the Better Half just told me she’d voted today, after I told her our walk-in voting was still happening today…! Course, I’d voted on Wednesday…! ;-)
*heh* It took a *ahem* younger pup to make the connection…! ;-)
won’t RMoney and BatBoy be surprised when the OH secretary of state’s vote fraud fails to carry the state by four votes. A family that votes together …
*cough*feelinglucky*nudder cough*
…but not you guys in paradise…
*heh* It’s mighty rough living here, PPD…! ;-)
Hey!
Stay in touch for the next week. OMG I”m so nervous.
Goodness, it’s been awhile since ya last used it, Suz…! I must be getting old…! ;-)
well its been a while since i’ve needed to use it.. ‘younger’… really dood? *laughing*
Tonite, I bear good news on the munchkin, Monday the 12th he’s scheduled for his EEG in Honolulu, meanwhile, today he was swimming in the YWCA’s indoor pool and bouncing away in several bouncy ‘rides’…! ;-)
yay! am i right in remembering that he had fevers with both episodes?
Hi CT et al. I have some good news too. The CA Coastal Commission Staff recommended denial of PG&E’s HESS application to the California Coastal Commission scheduled in Santa Monica agenda on Nov 14th. The Commission may deny and the applicant has 30 days to appeal to the courts. Here is a link http://stopoceanblasting.org/ the marine mammals and other sea life to be killed may be delayed until next year so it is a legal and educational battle. 3D blasts every 15 seconds for 40 days in the Marine protected area, a breeding grounds for birds, mammals and a host of marine life will change whale migratioon patterns, destroy fisheries and recreation. An insane proposal.
i will be so fucking happy when the political ad season is over… i’m feeling like that little girl in that video…. enough already, jeebus!
Good evening Suz. How’s things in Oregon?
hey past — how’s utah? we are drying out from the constant drizzle/showers that finally ended and are forecast to hit 63 tomorrow with afternoon sunbreaks. supposed to be our warmest day for the next 7 per the weather dood
no ads in california, Suzzz — it’s a waste of Rove’s money
weather’s been nice the last few days. Warmest Halloween ever (74 deg) and it’s been in the low 60′s and sunny the last couple days.
not even for the initiatives?
wow. it stopped raining about 4pm and started back up again around midnight… perfect for the kiddies
i’m starting to nod off early tonight pups. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight. i’m looking forward to seeing what tut’s got on tap this weekend –hope to see you there.
don’t forget to fall your clocks backwards tonight
tut — check your email.
g’nite all
Sweet dreams, Suz.
Ooh, I’d stepped away to whip up some mexican food, fresh tortillas, etc…! ;-)
Sweet dreams, Suz, and you’ve got mail…! *g*
Republicans will never win statewide office again in california — they’re finished.
Today, someone I was pretty tight friends with for a long, LONG time (more than 20 years) told me he hoped my diabetes would KILL ME because I would not argue the merits of Obamacare and other political issues with him.
I had previously told him I would not discuss politics because neither of us would convince the other, and thus, such an argument would be pointless.
He emailed me today and his words were (edited for spelling and grammar):
“We have no future as friends. You simply won’t listen to FACTS (as spouted by WND, Faux Noize, Drudge, Limbaugh, etc), you’ve made up your mind so we have nothing to discuss. Hope you’re dead from the diabetes before the next election, you fucking commie.”
My interest in guns (yes, I am a liberal shooter), and light aircraft (both are bastions of right wing ideology, for stupid reasons) are the main things we had in common and I haven’t flown since early ’05. We both kept getting angry at each other and I said “Hey, I’ll talk to you a couple months after the election, no matter how it goes” in our last communication (about two months ago). Today, two months later, he shot that notion down. Donno what took him so long but whatever. I read something yesterday, ironically, titled “why it’s ok to end a friendship over political differences so maybe he read that. After reading it, I feel better. The points in the blog make a lot of sense in this case.
I hope Obama wins, though realistically, given his already-stated intent to continuing his ill-advised and ill-conceived policies of attempted bipartisanship, I don’t know how much it matters. I WANT to think it will make some kind of difference but I don’t have a lot of confidence he’ll do anything in his second term.
So I’m taking drugs this evening, in the hope of calming myself down, because, as I told Suze, this has been an afternoon and evening where I wanted to go out and do some fucking DAMAGE.
