happy friday pups!
So, is Steph laughing her ass off in regards to what Floridian’s consider winter weather? That which is coming next Tuesday?
70 high/50 low winter weather.
hey tuez — i talked to her yesterday and she said that she was only supposed to get more wind and rain from sandy– that there were no flood warnings. she was sad that it was snowing in colorado — she’s missing snow
how was your day?
my high today was 51
She might want to visit NYC.
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! The looks on the faces of Gov. Abercrombie, Mazie Hirono, Sen. Inouye, and the rest of the hui, was priceless…! Security didn’t appreciate our ‘aloha’, tho…! ;-)
not if her mom has anything to do with it *laughing*
she’s feeling the weight of all her homework and studying — but enjoying college life.
aloha tut — how’s paradise today?
Wait, you don’t want her to visit NYC? It’s a great place. I know this to be true, because I grew up with it in my backyard.
My dog, who is not designed for Florida, is lovin’ the cooler weather and is giving me fits right now.
We need the trades to return and blow all the vog back towards kona, and to cool us down a bit…!
just not this weekend ;) saw the forecast now has sandy hitting the nyc area around 10pm mon night instead of tuesday
i hear the atlantic has some extra wind but i don’t think ya want it…
Sandy cooled us down enough that even my own personal summer has gone on strike. WOOT!!!!
But there might be snow, hellish amounts of snow. Just don’t visit the subway.
woohoo! has your mister figured out any more details on the job?
the subway came so close to flooding during irene… its gonna be nasty – i sure hope folks are making preparations and evacuating if they are in low lying areas
No. He’s a guy, the fine print doesn’t concern him. He lives for today, I live at least a month out, with the pets living 6 months out.
*laughing* does he plan on finding out monday or just wants to be surprised when he gets his first paycheck?
He will be surprised when he gets his first check, and I’ll be relieved, hopefully.
With that, I must lay my head down for the night.
Happy weekend all!!!
Hey now…! I’m a guy and I scrutinize the fine print, M’dear…! 8-P
Sweet dreams, tuez…!
g’nite tuez
Plenty of video and pics will be forthcoming from Occupy Hilo’s little tête-à-tête…! I promise…! ;-)
sweet — you are gonna write a diary i hope…
Hello all, it’s been so long.
Winter may be coming here at last! It was only 82 today, and is now a balmy 73. Great day for golf, if my sciatica wasn’t acting up and if I actually had clubs and played.
I might hold off until Occupy Hilo’s Light Brigade efforts at the long-standing traditional Dem Rally, the nite before Election Day, at the downtown Mo’oheau Bandstand, all the Dims, Statewide attend that rally…! Our efforts tonite were squelched by the daylight and the real impact of the LEDs were severely limited, but, all the Pols sure noticed it…! Btw, there was more ‘protesters’ than the Party loyalists…! It was hilarious…! ;-)
morris!!! how ya been dood?
nighttime will show the led’s more but can make photography tricky (nighttime photography is difficult for me)
Details! Details! What did you-all do?
hey hotflash — how’s toronto(?) tonight?
I’ve been, let’s say that.
Had to retire because of failing eyesight so I’m now running my wife’s acupuncture and wellness clinic in the desert. Sold the sailboat. Live on a golf course, which is pretty, but refuse to learn how to play.
Who’d have ever pegged me for a “gated community” eh? It’s a long story.
Two of my best friends passed, Jerry Lieber about a year ago, whom I miss so much, especially when I hear one of his songs which is quite frequently, and Bert Schneider (Easy Rider and Last Picture Show, Chinatown, etc producer) of whom I have a package of his ashes. I know that’s weird. I know I thought it weird when he showed me Huey Newton’s ashes, which he kept on the mantel.
Now I’d like to get a horse.
my mom lived out in palm desert for years after retiring — she’s now in arizona — and loves the desert. must be a hard adjustment from living on a boat to living in the desert. mom got used to living in a gated community – the extra security etc.
i’m sorry to hear about your retirement — i’ve coveted your woodwork
So does anyone know if pollsters are including people who have already voted? Or are they discarding them and just polling those yet to vote?
hey dave — i think the only votes that matter to the pollsters now are those in ohio
how’s colorado tonight? that fire still going?
My dear Morris, this is so sad. We do harpsichords here, as you probably forgot, and our mottos is , “Perfect is good enough, or at least it will have to do.” Ashes, eh? I always figured I’d be made into hide glue, myself. Cannot imagine golf. If I wanted to put a little ball in a little hole, which is not very likely to begin with, I’d just walk over and chuck it in. But the scenery is nice.
Sooz, we have fall here, lovely leaves and temps just this eve cooling down to ‘seasonal normals’ — that’s 50-ish in US degrees. I’d hope we’d get to keep the 70′s weather through Halloween, such a drag when you can’t see the costumes for the snowsuits.
Yeah, the desert has its charms, especially in the winter. In the summer its HOT!
I don’t like retirement much myself, never planned on it, frankly, as so much of my identity was wrapped up in what I did. I can still go and see my work at client’s houses and in the odd museum when if need to.
BTW didn’t live on the boat. Lived by the water with the boat pretty much a few hundred feet away in the marina. Still…
is there any risk of sandy reaching up to you and smacking ya around some?
I haven’t heard about the fire, it’s probably contained by now.
Cool today, but sunny. The soil is in its talcum powder stage. We need some precipitation, but none in the forecast.
I think I have a plan regarding an Italian sausage substitute. I was prowling the meat counters yesterday and they have 99% lean ground turkey breast. They also some some that is pre-seasoned, but higher fat content. I think if I mix that with fennel, garlic powder, and red pepper flakes I should be able to get something very much like spicy Italian sausage.
Sooz, just now getting around to looking at that *very young* Richard Pryor. Funny guy, thanks! I don’;t think I ever saw that one, probably past my bedtime back then.
We were protesting the PLDC abomination, our individual led letters spelt out ‘Abolish The PLDC’…! Abercrombie signed it into law, and, is defending it tooth and nail, even with a Rahmbo-esque ‘f*cking ret*rds’ quip to all the public outcry the PLDC had met on every Isle…! We’re talking hundreds of public testimony against it, with maybe a handful of ‘supporters’ at their inaugural roll-out on each Isle…! It is a gruesome Land Grab, with no tangible Public oversight available…! 8-(
must be my faulty memory — i thought ya lived on it in the marina…sometimes i find it hard to believe that i was a highly trained professional observer
have you found anything to fill your time? is there anything you could channel that energy into?
oooo let me know how that turns out? what kind of casing are you going to use?
thanks hotflash — i enjoyed it (but it was probably past my bedtime too). i remember those keys on the coffee cans and some of his other pop culture references….
They are saying we will get some wind and rain, but it should be mostly blown out by the time it gets this far. Messy for Halloween, but nothing like what they got in Cuba. I have friends there, KI haven’t heard from them, and a neighbour of mine is a partner in a dance company there. I haven’t spoken to her, either. Weather is so big, we are so small.
Yeah, I remember. Harpsichords are lovely, delicate instruments. Your motto reminds me of an old one we used to have in the workshop – “If you can’t make it perfect, make it look perfect.”
So, if you were made in to glue could you say that you stuck around?
oh good. friend of mine’s sister is vacationing in bermuda — lives in new hampshire…
dammit morris that shudda had a spew warning — token almost took a direct hit *laughing*
… Weather is so big, we are so
smallignorant.Fixed…! ;-)
:)
Don’t worry, I’m busy enough with the wellness clinic and some medical devices (Far infrared jade massage beds) that we’re importing from China. Learned how to get a 501(k) FDA clearance. Interesting.
That and thinking of taking up polo which is problematic with the sciatica and scares the hell out of the kid who thinks I’ll kill myself on a horse. He could be right.
Hey! Being smarter wouldn’t help a lot, we can still just get washed away!
Oh my, it’s way late here, 2:30am — looking fwd to falling behind, but that’s whe, week after next? Usually somebody lets me know… I am not so keen on springing ahead, but I *love* falling behind!
why polo?
i think its the sat after halloween but i could be wrong … it would not be the first time
Night all.
g’nite hotflash
I’m not going to stuff casings. This is for the tomato cream pasta sauce experiment.
Organic tomatoes, non-fat evaporated milk, onions and garlic, spices, and this turkey sausage over probably whole wheat penne.
Likely to be a next week experiment.
still sounds yummy — looking forward to hearing how your experiment went
G’evening all, things are seasonally Wet,Getting Dark and standard Halloween weather in my neck of the woods.
I dread the Dark.
hey openhope — sure is getting dark early and fast… how ya been?
*heh* The Better Half had just asked me this morn when ya’ll switch over, the Fourth (Sunday) is what my calendar sez…! ;-)
Love horses. Pretty good rider, as well. Wife was a competitive equestrian (three day) of Olympic caliber. Lots of polo here in the desert, with three separate polo clubs and major tournaments. Lots of pro players come to the clinic because they’re always hurting, and they’re great guys and a few have offered to teach me the game. They also offer to let me ride their ponies.
‘night HotFlash. Good to chat again.
so the pros think you can do it…. how kewl morris!
Hmm, sounds like ‘do it’ to me. Keep us posted, eh?
I have 10 meat chickens I STILL have to grind into sausage/burger packs. and gallons of stock. My fennel seed just started kicking ass so I guess there’s a few lbs. of chix sausage with fennel seed to replicate Italian sausage. I’m so out of my depths. Casings are creepy.
Btw, I’ll have to stay up an hour later for lln…! ;-)
the switch is at 0200 sun morning so technically it would happen at the cusp of my sat nite cartoon post and ellies talking heads
Aloha, open…! If the Apocaylpse does happen, I’ll paddle right over…! ;-)
Polo players are a lot like good sailors. They’re down to earth, self reliant, highly competent, kind of gutsy, don’t suffer fools easily and are open and friendly on the whole. They’re also, just like sailors, not just a bunch of rich guys. Yeah, keeping 12 or 20 horses ain’t cheap, but a lot scrape by, so to speak.
like recognizing like — no wonder they want you
for some reason my other bad knee (the fake one) starting hurting when i went to bed last night and hasn’t let up at all. the good news is that it helps block the new bad knee’s pain. tonight was an night for pain pills and they are kicking in. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight and i hope to see ya tomorrow night for cartoons.
g’nite all
Oy, Life is a roller coaster. I think about your story of strapping your daughters onto your chest to ride the roller coaster….
I wish I had the comfort to be strapped onto a loving mother’s chest for this ride.
Oh,well.
We are having a dinner party tomorrow featuring salmon fillets from “area 67″ Alaska. The chi-chi salmon our son fished this summer. With crab stuffed pasta shells. Pasta from an awesome Italian pasta company and crab from the “hood”. So, it’s hard to complain!
Been thinking about your knee and hoping all is well. My 92 yr. old uncle and favorite cousin did the midwestern thing where you show up for a visit even if it’s the fucking WORST time and you were asked not to… It was so good. We ate area 67 salmon and talked and drank wine.
His knee replacement is healing and he had no trouble with my forest walk. :)
Sweet dreams, Suz…! My best healing vibes headed your way…! ***Ooohhm***
I’m a tad miffed that TBogg called me ‘lazy’ earlier…! 8-(
I love the lessons horses have taught me. When the kids were little we got “lease ponies” from the wonderful riding stable we went to. We live in an area with a good choice of rental pastures, but none in our own backyard. I always wanted to go out with a cup of coffee and talk to the ponies instead of being an event when I arrived.
Oh well.
I got my pony at the age of 43 after all those years of wanting. Red Cloud, a 14 hand POA (Pony Of America, half Appaloosa half Shetland pony 100 percent tough). We did the tideflats, running loose in games horse people say you’re not supposed to do. I kept thinking I’d finally to him to understand “Heel” because we did as much going for walks as we did riding. That never worked out after the first 20 feet and the realization “there was no harness”.
Thanks, that was sweet…
I’m off to bed myself. G’night all.
I can not read TBogg. I find him so offensive. If I had a say I would pink slip his ass and send him on to his next gig.
But I don’t.
Appy/shetland? That must be quite a sight. 14 hands? A cutie no doubt.
Diane’s first horse, Buttercup, was a 16 hand warmblood she trained herself at the age of 11. Still have the pictures of this little girl jumping this big horse. The expression on her face was a mixture of pure glee and absolute fright.
I needed a horse I could jump on and off of. He looked like a Chinese Tang horse. So much power and heart and soul.
A pony is so much smarter than a horse. He was bombproof. But, if you forgot to close a gate properly, it didn’t go unnoticed!
Can you tell I miss him?!
A good companion animal is a treasure.
Sweet!
How true.
Gotta turn in now, Night all.
If the ApocEvent happens we’re 1/2 mile inland. We too are fucked!
Good night, Morris Sheppard. It was nice meeting you.
Good morning, pups. Today we have Blow, Nocera and Collins. In “The Company Romney Keeps” Mr. Blow says that a spokesman for Mitt Romney has made some pretty shocking statements recently. What does that say about the Republican presidential candidate? Well, Mr. Blow, lie down with dogs, get up with fleas… Mr. Nocera, in “For Romney, Ties That Bind,” says connections from the Salt Lake City Olympics are big donors to Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign. In “Talk About a Way With Words” Ms. Collins says another debate between U.S. Senate candidates this week has made rape and abortion the political topics of the moment. How any woman could bring herself to vote for creatures that say some of the things that have been reported is a mystery to me.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got your favorite omelet this morning. It’s gray and windy outside, so we may get some rain later, which would be a good thing. My treasure of a yard man came by yesterday with his chainsaw to trim the jasmine. Now we can get out of the back gate without fighting our way through tentacles. The stuff grows FAST after it gets started. They say down here that the first year it sleeps, the second year it creeps and the third year it leaps. It’s in its sixth year now… Have a great day.
