g’evening pups — hope everyone had a great day today!
to riff off tonights video: i heard the news today oh boy
i saw the surgeon at the vancouver kaiser clinic today. it was discouraging. doc took new xrays and said that nothing can be done until feb – when it will be a year since the surgery — and they make a determination of whether the bones that was glued together are alive or dead.
if they are dead, the procedure will be to do two surgeries: the first is to remove all the hardware they put in. after i have healed from that surgery (estimated at 6 to 8 weeks later and there could be no weight bearing during that period), they would then go in and do a reconstruction of my knee, which would include total knee replacement.
said they don’t do a combined surgery because the risk of infection is too high. said that since that glued area of bone extends below the location at the top of the tibia head where they make the cut and put in the total knee replacement metal cap, that i might need ‘augmentation’ which means bone graft. said the cap would have no bone beneath it to support it and that would mean augmentation. we did not discuss the specifics of that — ie auto-graft or cadaver bone graft but the bottom line is that augmentation has its own set of complications…. all of which would be discussed after feb’s determination of whether my tibia head is alive or dead.
needless to say, i’m quite discouraged and indulging in a wee bit of a pity party tonight
hey, sorry the news was shitty and i’m one who is all for a pitty party now and again, when necessary– you’re not one who mopes around feeling sorry for yourself, suze, so party on!
it was forty fucking four degrees when i got up at six fucking forty five this morning. weather dood said we may hit 70 tomorrow – possibly for the last time this year.
i’d go to mass and pray for you except i finally made my break with The Church a few weeks ago– do you know any good religions—- i’m thinking of trying Episcoplean
hey dearie — how’s the nard tonight? i’ll just keep on making do as i have been doing and muddle through. i gonna plan a color scheme for my christmas tree and on the days i feel up to it, i’ll head to the store and buy a few ornaments at a time (am starting from scratch). i’ve got sat tv and fast innertubes. and token :)
Well, actually, galloping a horse through the woods on a Sunday morning is the height of loving the environment, and hence, what we have here. Especially when the wisteria are in bloom.
suze, please keep us all posted; thid msy turn out that bad; getting one of your joints and tendons and muscles and ligaments an’ shit all replaced is complicated stuff—- hang in, i know you can, you’ve been nthrough so much– i also know you wish all this shit was over asap— the whole FDL family will be here
I have wisteria at the end of the driveway, in the middle of O-town. Thank you very much. And no, the horses are long gone but it was still heavenly on a Sunday morning to gallop them down an old tractor path and smell the wisteria overhead.
Terribly sorry to hear your news, Suz (hey, I’m a poet and didn’t know it!). A friend had a bad break and they were talking about his hip bone possibly dying, but it didn’t. Let’s just say that your bones will continue to live.
Sweetie i dont fuckin believe this shit. One hobble forward and two hobbles back! There are days when i disown my body. Really i just wont admit i am attached to this thing. But i am glad i am attached to LLN. Again “all that you dream” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S8V1olWt8I0
I’ve been growing orchids about 15 years but ma nature has been at it longer. I really can’t take credit for my orchid accomplishments, as I pretty much leave them to ma nature. I consider them weeds and have been known to staple them to palm trees. And they thrive.
Not great. I’ve come down with a low fever, so I feel bad. I sent some gold off for sale to pay the bills this month, it should have been delivered on the 6th, but it is still sitting in the post office out there waiting to be delivered. Starting to not be funny any more.
Other than that I’ve been playing Diablo 2 under Wine on my Linux box. Works flawlessly.
Fall weather continues to be perfect. Made it to yoga last night, but no way I’m going to try it tomorrow.
I rescued several ailing orchids from Lowe’s for $1.50 each. They are rehabing on my dining room windowsill. So far I haven’t killed any but one seems happier than the others.
how can romney say he had a great jobs creation record when he had Romneycare but say obamacare will have the opposite result when it is based on Romneycare
orchids are so pretty — i’ve heard they were hard to grow and always admired those who could grow them. i tend to be a kill them with too much love kinda person
Regarding the debates, I think this is all just stagecraft.
Don’t try to decipher the nonsense he peddles, he doesn’t believe it himself. There is only one Republican platform – tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate deregulation, giveaways of public resources to corporations, and war-war-war (which is a giveaway to defense contractors and secures resources for corporations). Everything else is just sophistry for the rubes. Whatever they may promise, that platform is what they all do.
It seems they are trying to do a dominance / alpha male thing. That’s what the first debate was about, and nobody bothered to tell Obama. Biden was laughing and dismissive, which established him as the alpha male (and the Republicans were aghast). Last night was Romney again trying to use language, facial expressions, and body language to establish himself as the alpha male, but Obama had practised for that and shut it down. When the moderator actually pointed out he was wrong, that established him as the lowest ranking of the three. Republicans are predictably up in arms about it. Watch Romney’s face during the Libya exchange. That raised eyebrow thing is reserved for misbehaving interns.
Sad to say that this is important, but it is. Anyone convinced by facts and reason is a Socialist or at least a Liberal. What remains in the Republican party are a bunch of lizard-brains functioning at the most primitive level.
That was my first thought. I hope not, since the money won’t come in for another week at least. Not much I can do about it now.
I get fevers now and then. I really don’t have an explanation. Maybe it would be flu if I were not doing all the healthy living crap. I dunno. We’ll see what develops.
‘evenin’, Suzanne. So sorry about the shitty news. It’s not really fair to call what I do praying, but all of my best wishes and hopes go with you.
(((Suzanne)))
Lizard brain is a thing – it’s the first structure beyond the spinal cord. Primitive things like flight or fight are processed there. Reptiles don’t have any higher functions. We are supposed to have higher functions, but some of us seem to avoid it.
Pretty well, thanks. Slowly but steadily, the knee is healing from the bike crash. Got a hell of a surprise on arriving home tonight-I didn’t notice that among the moths and nightflies, a swarm of wasps had camped out, and it being 11pm, I didn’t notice till a sec too late-and had been stung once and had half a dozen in the house.
No snow, not even in the high country. Maybe another month.
The reservoir between here and Dolores is the lowest I’ve ever seen it. It’s just a few puddles with dirt between them. We’ve been getting some rain, but not enough I fear.
Yes. Patty and me vs. the wasps, with a flyswatter and a rolled up paper, in the house at 11pm. It would probably be funny as hell to have watched. We got ‘em all, though, without injuring each other-a close thing-and then I came around from the back door and hosed down my door and front steps, and probably killed thirty more. I’ve never seen a swarm in the middle of the freaking night before.
I’m pissed and worried about the munchkin, just before lln posted, the Better Half called me from the hospital, he’d had another seizure that lasted 2 1/2 minutes…! And the F*ckers are still dicking around and not Medivacing him to Honolulu…! Wtf are they waiting for…! *gah*
Sorry, Suz, to hear about the bad news on your leg…! Two separate surgeries to recuperate from…? 8-(
On the homefront, it seems to be fever-related again, but, have absolutely no clue as to what brought it on…! They gave him anti-seizure meds in his IV bag, and, once the bag was spent, They released him…! *gah*
Anyways, he will see his Pediatrician in the morning, where they say they plan to schedule his EEG over at Kapiolani…! Action had better happen mighty damn soon…! 8-(
thanks for the update tut — i’m keeping the little guy (and family) in my prayers. hope it is all figured out and resolved soon. went through seizures with jen when she was almost 18 months…scary for sure. they never did figure out what caused them but she did outgrown them and was off all anti seizure meds before she started pre-school.
g’evening pups — hope everyone had a great day today!

i heard the news today oh boy
drive by;
weather in TCB is getting fall beautiful– thank god summer is over
great game for the yankees tonight!
whAt up, suze
hey bfl — does that mean the rains are stopped and the temps are back down into reasonable?
if they are alive does that mean one surgery
that maybe would not be so bad
hey, sorry the news was shitty and i’m one who is all for a pitty party now and again, when necessary– you’re not one who mopes around feeling sorry for yourself, suze, so party on!
‘zactly; although a few more degrees lower would be more “reasonable”– at least for october for this jersey boy– it’s 72 now
if they are alive then there is hope that total knee replacement can be postponed for as long as possible…. depending on how much they regenerate
it was forty fucking four degrees when i got up at six fucking forty five this morning. weather dood said we may hit 70 tomorrow – possibly for the last time this year.
Sorry, Suz, that the news was so ‘complicated.’ Hope, though, that you are able to get around okay for now. Disappointing, for sure.
Oh, Suz, I haz a sad for you.
i’d go to mass and pray for you except i finally made my break with The Church a few weeks ago– do you know any good religions—- i’m thinking of trying Episcoplean
hey dearie — how’s the nard tonight? i’ll just keep on making do as i have been doing and muddle through. i gonna plan a color scheme for my christmas tree and on the days i feel up to it, i’ll head to the store and buy a few ornaments at a time (am starting from scratch). i’ve got sat tv and fast innertubes. and token :)
thanks tuez — i haz a sad too. how was your day? bfl said it was a beautiful fall day…
aw thanks dood. i’ll take positive healing thoughts and good wishes sent to my tibia head bone ….. sorta along the lines of grow baby grow
I find agnostic works for me.
Well, actually, galloping a horse through the woods on a Sunday morning is the height of loving the environment, and hence, what we have here. Especially when the wisteria are in bloom.
thanks for the update, Suzzz — I was sending positive thoughts your way this morning. Sorry for the actual outcome.
i gotta get to bed
good night, guys
suze, please keep us all posted; thid msy turn out that bad; getting one of your joints and tendons and muscles and ligaments an’ shit all replaced is complicated stuff—- hang in, i know you can, you’ve been nthrough so much– i also know you wish all this shit was over asap— the whole FDL family will be here
wisteria are so pretty!
“hope everyone had a great day today!”
I actually did have a great day today. Lots of problem solving.
Sorry to hear of your medical problems though.
thanks ppd — appreciate it. how’s the monterey bay tonight?
Well, I had a good day, as simplistic as it was.
I’ve got a flower spike on a notoriously hard to grow and bloom orchid.
WOOT!!!!
thanks — g’nite bfl
i have no idea what a wisteria is; i assume a plant or tree
where do we have woods around here– nobody ever told me
yay coach bill! i’m so glad someone had a good day!!! how ya been dood?
WOOT! how kewl tuez — that’s two people who had a good day today so coach isn’t an anomoly *laughing* how long have you been growing orchids?
no, no, no— no positive thoughts allowed right now– this is a pity party, ‘member
All is well in my part of town.
you can start sending them tomorrow when the party’s over :)
I have wisteria at the end of the driveway, in the middle of O-town. Thank you very much. And no, the horses are long gone but it was still heavenly on a Sunday morning to gallop them down an old tractor path and smell the wisteria overhead.
Killjoy.
how’s your son finding college life? steph is studying madly for two midterms friday.
the edit function here is a total disaster so I’ll reprint my comment below
Ever thought about Unitarian? Then seem less crazy than most. I read somewhere that a quarter of them are atheists.
wisteria

it was a hot day, Mom had to keep drinking all day to stay hydrated.

Came home for the weekend. He seems to be adjusting well. Had just taken his first tests but no grades yet. Texted today, 83 in Am History.

Not great. I’ve come down with a low fever, so I feel bad. I sent some gold off for sale to pay the bills this month, it should have been delivered on the 6th, but it is still sitting in the post office out there waiting to be delivered. Starting to not be funny any more.

bigchin — you posted this twice… would you like me to remove the duplicate (i haz magic powers)
I rescued several ailing orchids from Lowe’s for $1.50 each. They are rehabing on my dining room windowsill. So far I haven’t killed any but one seems happier than the others.
i’m going to remove the dupicate since its so long.
how can romney say he had a great jobs creation record when he had Romneycare but say obamacare will have the opposite result when it is based on Romneycare
he’s a dickweed
School motto: Be Roosponsible
1. Go to class
2. manage time
3. get some sleep.
is the fever from your bad tooth?
Well, it was flu shot day at the community today, too.
orchids are so pretty — i’ve heard they were hard to grow and always admired those who could grow them. i tend to be a kill them with too much love kinda person
yup… that’s the way to do it. gotta figure out when to eat tho…

i got mine earlier this month.

Texted a picture of lunch one day. Bowl of cereal, hamburger, cupcake.

good night all! suze, hang in, lady
i think i’m gonna send steph a case of ramen noodles (laughing) i told her that and she quickly told me her favorite flavor
g’nite for realsies bfl
That was my first thought. I hope not, since the money won’t come in for another week at least. Not much I can do about it now.

lizard brains; shit heads; whatever– good points, though
i was just satyin’ how come nobody calls him out on that contradiction
people are saying that all day, though– “how come Obama didn’t call him out on—–”
Orchids are not rocket science.
Suz,you can grow some pretty cool ones.
I’m going to bed.
Night all.
are you doing warm salt water rinses of that tooth in the mean time?
Hell of alot better than yours id say. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1SK3QTnGU8
I swear some day i will not battle with my body.
one nite we will talk about how to grow them — i will be needing a hobby between now and feb :)
g’nite tuez
how are you battling tonight? jorma is such a good musician…. still playing iirc
No, should I be? There isn’t any pain. I hit it with some Lysterine today and didn’t feel any sensitivity.
heavily salted water does have antiseptic qualities — i used that on my bad teeth until i could afford to get them pulled.
100.2 degrees. Not enough to worry about, but all my muscles ache and I don’t like that cool air outside tonight.
it could be a bug … i hope its a bug and that you feel better quickly dave
‘evenin’, Suzanne. So sorry about the shitty news. It’s not really fair to call what I do praying, but all of my best wishes and hopes go with you.
(((Suzanne)))
thanks rond — how ya doing tonight?

Frailties aside. I find comfort in music.
The warranty on this body is long spent. Bailing wire and bubble gum baby! Any left over parts were not important anyway.
i figure at this rate, i’ll be the bionic woman within the next decade *laughing*
That’s my working assumption. I get them now and then.
Hilarity ensued.
hope its nothing more and gone in a flash… any snow yet?
oh noz! and with your knee you are not as fast on your feet as you usually are…. ohmystars
Now i am hearing the SUZ.
No snow, not even in the high country. Maybe another month.
The reservoir between here and Dolores is the lowest I’ve ever seen it. It’s just a few puddles with dirt between them. We’ve been getting some rain, but not enough I fear.
oh crap, i can’t laugh — i’m supposed to be wallowing and feeling sorry for myself and shit
crap and that’s not good… not good at all.
Yes. Patty and me vs. the wasps, with a flyswatter and a rolled up paper, in the house at 11pm. It would probably be funny as hell to have watched. dayam — that’s way scarier than a bat in the house
No thanks, I’ll take vicious insects over flying rats any day.
the first time i happened i was totally freaked out and swinging a broom in the air trying to shoe it out the door…..
the second time i got it confined to one room and opened the window and was a lot more blase about it
Enough. I need sleep. Goodnight peeps.
g’nite dave — feel better soon
*making mental note about the lucky happy 99 coming up and avoiding it*
Be afraid be very afraid.
Ha! I used to remind you, but now you’ve gone and got it all figured out!
Ooops, tried to time it to protect you from the embarrassment…. “:)
not taking any changes today dearie *laughing*
and you did :) congrats on snaggin’ the happy lucky 99 dearie!!!
So, I’m going to call it a night. Sending healing vibes your way, Suz (and other pups needing some good vibes.) Enjoy a lovely Thursday.

Suz my healing energy is with you.

thanks dood. appreciate it
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…!
*gah*
oh no tut…. any reason given for not medivacing him for specialized care? did he have a fever this time?
Oh, CT, I’m so sorry to hear that. Please keep us informed when it’s comfortable to do so. Love to the munchkin and to your whole family!

g’nite
Sorry, Suz, to hear about the bad news on your leg…! Two separate surgeries to recuperate from…? 8-(
On the homefront, it seems to be fever-related again, but, have absolutely no clue as to what brought it on…! They gave him anti-seizure meds in his IV bag, and, once the bag was spent, They released him…! *gah*
Anyways, he will see his Pediatrician in the morning, where they say they plan to schedule his EEG over at Kapiolani…! Action had better happen mighty damn soon…! 8-(
Several of you have pulled through for us but we still need a few more.
thanks for the update tut — i’m keeping the little guy (and family) in my prayers. hope it is all figured out and resolved soon. went through seizures with jen when she was almost 18 months…scary for sure. they never did figure out what caused them but she did outgrown them and was off all anti seizure meds before she started pre-school.
