Chuck Berry — My Ding-A-Ling, live in London, 1972.
What’s on your mind?
let the record show that i am not one of those not singing :)
I need advice.
What should I get a 90 y/o for her b’day, she doesn’t need anything?
And is it totally gauche to give a surprise 60th potluck b’day party?
hey tuez — how was your day? flowers and perhaps a donation made in her name to a cause she supports?
i don’t think its gauche at all
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! ;-)
Roll Over Beethoven…
aloha tut — how’s paradise (and your cold) tonight?
Does the 90 year old like to go to dinner? I know my dad, who is 95, is always pleased to be taken out to dinner.
And pot luck birthdays are fun!
hey dearie — how ya doing tonight? that’s a great suggestion!
I see that Crackbook has really teed off on Mitt’s Binders blunder…! ;-)
twitter’s a’fire about it too… i had a long hot soak in the clawfoot tub instead of watching the debate tonight
Cleared cache, so here I rise….
Ah, a donation, great advice. Thanks.
Okay, next question. Said almost 60 y/o has the dubious distinction of having his b’day fall the Saturday after Turkey day almost every year, so basically, his b’day is always a wash. Anyway, the dreaded holidays have started by then. When should I through a party? If I get my shit together I can get a party together in a couple of weeks (except it may fall on my own b’day), or can I wait until Jan or Feb to throw a big old party?
robert! so glad that fixed it for ya. how’s southern PA tonight?
Hi Suz….. all’s good here. And I gotta say, I’m glad the Prez showed up for the debate tonight. Eli’s threads are fun, too.
Not too shabby tonite, I’ll be good to go by the time next wednesday rolls around, maybe sooner, since they’d called me this morn to see if I could work tonite too…! ;-)
ouch — that’s a rough one. stephanie’s is 2 days before christmas. one year we threw her a ‘half’ birthday — she had friends over to swim since her half birthday landed in the summer (june).
i heart eli — his threads are always a hoot!
fingers and toes crossed it passes quickly and you are back on the mt soon dood
Little Alabama is going to be blessed with a few days of Indian summer….
Yes, she likes going out and I take her out about once a year. The problem is we now live 30 miles apart, so arrangements can be difficult, as she is always on the move. This is a Prius driving, still livin’ alone, on a lake, Obama lovin’ (we don’t discuss him anymore), liberal.
currently its 45 outside. weather dood said we may get into 70′s again this week before more rain hits this weekend.
Ooh, clawfoot tub? How neat! Is your new place old, then? Or a repro tub?
I, too avoided watching or listening. Reading about it after much less upsetting.
Re: the 90 year-old’s birthday present: My mom is 93; definitely doesn’t need much of anything. When I visited her last she wanted me to take her to the mall to get underwear. No more tchotchkes needed; got rid of tons when she downsized from house to retirement village apartment.
Last present I got her was a notebook with a pretty cover…she makes lots of lists, notes to self, and so on. It’s really not a notebook like (um) a binder or spiral-bound, but covered notepad, with a section of sticky notes. She seemed to quite like that.
hey tejan — its got a white claw foot tub in a tiled alcove with a rain shower head centered above the tub. best of both worlds :) also has one of those old fashioned up high on the wall mounted toilet tank (i always think of them as english) but no pull chain (has a handle).
how’s texas tonight?
Well, maybe a special lunch date….. home before dark.
andy, the landlord, refitted the bathroom and its really cute. apple green walls and black and white tile in the alcove and on the floor. old fashioned wall mounted sink and the same towel bars and toilet paper holder that i put in at the boulder creek cabin. i’m not sure how old it is — but it has an arch into the laundry/utility room at the back and 2 built-ins instead of traditional closets.
Ah.Sounds nice. And a lovely place to soak. I love a long soaky bath. Usually with a (not from the library…occasionally I doze off and drop the book into the water)
Tejas is pretty nice tonight..it was rather a gloomy, overcast day; rained last night, so damp, in fact, the paper in my printer was dampish. But pleasantly cool…mid-sixties, maybe lower, tonight.
And I’d better get off to bed now. Without a Lakeside Diner in the morning, I really miss my fdl peeps at LLN even more. (and let’s send some lovely healing vibes for Southern Dragon tonight, hmmm? Petro, are you here? I’m worried about SD for real. But trying not to dwell on the negative
Thanks for being here, Suze, ctut (hope you keep feeling better) Dearie, and tuezday and everybody.
thanks tejan — g’nite
photos of the new house
reelin and rockin
kyooot! Esp the bath! Nice windows! and now really *poof!*
Definitely home before dark.
I really like the donation idea.
Ginny uses datebook/notebooks, but doesn’t bother to reference them. I know this, as I’ve shown up for lunch dates and she’s like WTF? Okay, 90 y/o don’t say that but you get the point.
I usually “see” SD when I visit older posts, but his DX is very troubling. I wish him all the best. It’s a sad situation
So cute! It looks so cozy and homey….. and with good light coming in. Very nice.
i’ve been sending him warm positive healing thoughts and prayers. hope he gets to come home this week like omali indicated. lotsa love headed sd’s way
Smart of you.
You will never have to host a holiday meal again.
its small but cute. perfect size for token and i
jen and her sister-in-law stacy love hosting the holiday stuff — i like showing up and eating :) they are both really good cooks and have a whole lot more room than i do
mean old world
I need to get to bed.
Thanks all for the advice.
Your house is the perfect size! I’d love to have something just that size in SB…. but I could never afford it. My house is big enough for family holidays, but I’m just far enough south of the action that I always end up at my daughters house…. where I end up cooking the holidays meals with her. I love to cook the holiday meals, so it works out fine.
tis 550 sq feet — and there is an additional 130 sq ft in the matching storage outbuilding ya see in the last photo
The outbuilding is great! How much of it did you fill?
chuck can also play audience
its only got a few empty boxes in it. after the tkr surgery has me recovered enough that i can unpack, its gonna be quite full. i think my dresser is way too big for the bedroom which is double bed sized. my 4poster metal queen frame is also gonna be stored in it.
but that is all in the future — right now its got a few empty boxes in it. its 10×13 so i’ll be able to get a lot in it
I’m gonna call it a night, Suz. Thanks for hosting. And thanks for sharing the pix of your cute new home!
evening, Suzzz – recovered from watching the debate tonight?
hey ppd — how’s monterey tonight? i didn’t watch it — i took a long hot soak and tried not to stress about my early morning doc appt in the morning….
hope your news at the doc is good in the morning, Suzzz
thanks ppd — i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed that i have a surgery date when i leave his office
doc says surgery is your best option?
i find out for sure in the morning. i will be surprised if he doesn’t think that the knee is unstable and not trustworthy and needs to be replaced.
Late as usual. Hey Suz an all. I been flat out workin for weeks and miss so much here. I do skim but must confess i am not up to date. Did you move again Suz? And CT thanks fer the rockin ZZ the other night.
speaking of that early morning doc appt, i have to be up by 7am to be in vancouver by 9am…. time for me to go lay in bed and toss and turn, worrying and stressing about not falling asleep and then sleeping through the alarm instead of stressing about the appt.
hey homeroid — i moved to st helens when i got sprung from the hospital bed in jen’s living room. hope all is well with you and yours
so possibly a total knee replacement?
night Suzzz — have a good day tomorrow. take care
OK i knew that move just more recent. Knee’s now, Crap. I am a local lab rat for the new “bug” going around about these parts. Perhaps i will explain tomorrow nite.
i remember when this song came out…i knew someone who represented the people that liked it. he would come out of his car smiling and yelling the verse…..
he is serving life in trentons zoom building for double murder.
hey jadez – wow, i’m glad i didn’t end up in trenton….maybe he shudda spent more time playing and not singing…
