happy saturday night! how’s everyone doing tonight?
Hey, Suz. How’s your body? And how’s that wonderful baby?
hey twain — good to see your fonts! i see the surgeon on the 17t to discuss and hopefully schedule total knee replacement. that gorgeous baby is now 18 months old!
how ya been?
twain, here’s a recent pic of her
I”m good, thank you. It’s fall and I love this season. Chilly nights with lots of covers and stuff.
It’s hard to believe the “baby” is that old. Can remember when she was just a bump.
She looks like Jen. Do you get to see them often?
hey man, i thought this election was over, now it looks like baaaaad news
she looks like jen’s mini-me *laughing* i try to see them about once a month — jen’s got a full house now that mike’s 16 yo daughter is living with them and i don’t wanna be a pest.
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight?
i remember when she was baby bell pepper and now she’s eating them
Bedtime for me. Even the dog is asleep. Happy dreams, all.
g’nite twain
Goofy, remains my fave Character, of all the Disney Toons…! ‘Garsh, Hey’uh up’, still slays me…! ;-)
aloha tut — glad ya like it — i also liked how all the characters are based on goofy in this one — and the sports metaphor. how’s paradise tonight?
Ah total knee replacement is a bitch. But last few folks I’ve spoken to were very, very happy with both results and the time it took to heal.
hey ce — how’s cleveland tonight? from what i’ve been told, the technology and techniques are way better than they were in 03 when i had my left knee replaced.
And my Dad, who had one knee replacement least 12 years ago, is a walking wonder at 89. He plays music every week and walks the drums over to the venue. Amazing that man.
I’m totally stoked that Motown beat down the dreaded Yankees, in the House that
Babe RuthGeorge Steinbrenner built…! ;-)wow!
Good evening, peeps. I should be asleep but am not yet.
It rained hard yesterday, and now we may be dipping below freezing. This is always the pattern. The weather holds, then a storm comes through, and the high/low spread drops a few degrees until BOOM – winter.
Colorado Springs 2010
Eight minutes of slow-motion crashes on one block. My nephew lives in CS.
Hey CT! MrCE still in London. Miss him.
weather = nice; yankees game = shitty; and don’t even ask me about college FB
i have my standard ftfy reaction to seeing their name *laughing* but i sure like that motown angle…. you know i’m a huge motown fan – guess i’m now rooting for the tigers – but only to beat the yankees. i’m a giants fan at heart
stop it, your stokedness, grrrrrr
hey dave — we finally got rain starting yesterday. temps are into the 50′s and low 60′s so fall has finally arrived. i’m no where near ready for winter — sheesh — are you all set for winter?
He is the reason I travel to PA as much as I can.
I’ve been cutting back on cheese on the theory that it might be the source of my high triglycerides. I probably eat twice the American average, which is probably twice too much itself. So I went two weeks without, then celebrated on Friday with homemade mac and cheese. Yum! Six cups of dry pasta, three quarters of a pound of cheddar. I think I’ll go for half batches from now on.
perhaps when the series concludes, the Yankees will vote Valverde a World Series share.
hello CE hope you are well
i am not—– yankees lost a heartbreaker
my mom and stepdad are down in az… i’m hoping to do some traveling after i get my knee back into traveling shape.
Not much to do to get ready this year, so I guess I’m ready. I need new tires.
now that’s what i like to hear, good one, dubie
didja add bacon to it? my son-in-law makes the best mac and cheese with bacon… makes my tummy growl thinking about it
hey dubinsky — how ya doing tonight?
what it do, CT
hey, how are the HI Warriors doing
always wondered about that team– jesus they have to travel alot to play
tires can be forking expensive…. are winter tires more expensive than summer tires?
Big hugs to you — lovely to see you! We are all very well — if MrCE would just come home from Europe.
That does sound good. No, just roux plus milk for a white sauce, then a half-pound of cheese for a cheese sauce, then layer the pasta and sauce with extra cheese, then bake. I usually throw a smoked turkey sausage on top, though.
Tires should be around $600. And the dentist wants to put on another crown for $900.
OMG yes. Like 600 dollars. But here in Cleveland, so worth the price.
he pre-cooks the bacon and then adds it to the layers before baking as crumbles. haven’t tried it with sausage
on a diff tooth?
i’m debating the cost vs use factor here…. i didn’t need them at the coast — just carried chains since ice/snow would usually only last a day or two. not sure of what the micro-climate is gonna be here
pretty darn good, Suzanne and right glad to again be in your company.
Hey you two, isn’t cooking my love, too?
Yes, the tooth in front of the other crown. A mere $25,000 and I can get them all done. Nothing like a dazzling gold smile!
why thank you *blushing* where abouts do ya hang your hat, if ya don’t mind my asking?
I’m gonna do a drive by…
Love ya all, maybe not that troll. I’ll let tut ‘splain that one.
Until Monday or Tuesday when I resurface.
Didn’t mean to ignore you, Christine.
While aimlessly surfing I ran across recipes for tomato cream sauce, and it looks like it could be made with non-fat evaporated milk. Ever made that?
sorry ce — didn’t mean to exclude ya… what’s your fav way to fix mac and cheese?
cheaper in mexico according to my mom
NYC.
hey tuez — good to see your fonts, even if they are just for a driveby…..
Going half&half recipe of spinach quuiche.
the big apple eh? how’s nyc tonight?
The tomato cream sauce recipe used Italian sausage, but I want something healthier. I could go with just 4% fat ground beef, but that’s boring. The buffalo we have here is really fatty. Yak would be great, but it’s hard to come by, and would require some extra spices.
There are so many, that I can’t choose.
i love fall and winter recipes… they are so good and hearty and bring back great memories. for some reason, bacon features in a lotta of my fall favs
Ya know I’m a staunch Gillard proponent…! FTFY…! ;-)
ditto dood…
it’s a lovely fall night and the sky is what passes for clear here…. one can count a dozen stars in the sky!
I read an Asimov essay once that said the someone with normal eyesight on a clear night should be able to see around 6000 stars. Not many places without light pollution any more.
i’m getting used to light pollution now that i’m living in a small town instead of on the coast. i can only imagine how bad it is in nyc
My timekeeper dog says it is bedtime. Goodnight, peeps.
g’nite dave
did CT leave ’cause I told him to stop gloating about the Yankees losing
boy, you think you know somebody
I guess you’ve moved house since last I visited Late, Late Night.
was it for grandmotherly reasons?
i doubt that is why tut isn’t on the thread bfl — knowing tut, he’s surfing and just hasn’t come back to the thread yet
fell and broke my leg rather badly. details over at my place starting here.
dubinsky — did you used to comment under a diffent name? i’m not remembering your moniker yet your style of commenting is ringing a bell as familiar
Hi, Suze! More or less a drive-by, too…shouldn’t be up, but here I am.
Traveled this week…just two days, but it felt longer. Dallas and el Paso. Hadn’t been to Dallas since I moved here. Although I only saw some of downtown and the way to and from Love Field, it was unrecognizable. Brand-new buildings, construction and cranes everywhere.
El Paso…still a desert…had rain the night I spent there. The last visit, there was a huge, dramatic desert storm. The judge at my hearing asked if I could come back next week…his yard needed more rain….
When I got back my internet was out…forgot to pay the cable bill. Got it done this evening …24 hours without toobz! Slept a good chunk of the day.
Don’t know how people who travel all the time stand it. I’m gonna need a maid and a cook here pretty soon (which would require a big raise, too). ; )
*heh* This Bosox fanatic is indeed gloating, but, no worries, BFL, the series is still young…! ;-)
hey tejan — its hard enough working much less working and traveling and trying to keep up with everything else. whatcha got planned for the upcoming week? any more travel?
i’ve done that with my bill; hope the “cranes everywhere” works out better as a measure of — something— there than it did in TCB; the incumbent mayor practically ran a campaign on it a few years ago- then it all stopped, tenants left or never came, buildings didn’t get finished, etc,
wow, that sounds horrific. so sorry to hear it Suzanne.
( 70-what was that dish making your tummy rumble…… — and cheese?)
tough one to swallow
after that season the sox had, i guess you guys need to latch on to something; jeter broke his ankle– out until next year spring training
aha… i thought i recognized your fonts. spent 4 and a half months living in a hospital bed in jen’s living room…. was a rough time for sure
Hopefully not. Supposedly it will be a quiet week. When I left there weren’t even any hearings scheduled. Plenty to do to meet deadlines coming up, though.
I’m considering trying to take part of Monday off..it seems to take days to recuperate from this running around. (I did get to soak briefly in the hotel hot tub, and splash across the pool and back. Then I spotted the lightning over the roof, and hot footed it back inside.)
Which reminds me…in case I miss Monday night, let me wish you a Happy Mutual Birthday. Sorry you won’t have your new knee to go dancing with yet…
I do feel for Jeter, and, the Bloody Valentine, best be gone long before the next pitch…! 8-(
its your birthday on monday too tejan…. you should take the entire day off (esp after all that travel)…
Ooh, Ya both have the same B’day, tj…? ;-)
one we share with laura doty
*wow* Laura too…? That’s a whole bunch of Hippo Birdies, M’dear…! ;-)
Heh. I’d love to. But after being away, I’d best see what’s going on in the office, and show my face. There are still communication problems, and it’s necessary to be present to head off disasters. (Somehow I didn’t know when I left that there would be three hearings in El Paso, not one, and so, of course, I only had one file. There was a lot of texting and faxing and it worked out, but, oy!)There is a lot of work to be done on organizing and communicating in this office, but it is improving.
strange how that worked out — i’ve only met one other person who had my same b/day/year and he worked at the pd with me. i figured there were not that many 10/15′s out there
oy… well then a half day for sure. how are you going to treat yourself?
Hola Suz et al. Been having internet connection issues.
It’s a good birth day, huh, Suzanne? Hope you have a good one. I’d best hie myself off to bed. Take care of yourself!
hey bg — how’s nm tonight? do ya think ya got them sorted out?
I’ll have to make sure I’m paying attention on Monday, but it is your day off, Suz. Got plans?
tis the best :) g’nite tejan
i never really liked Jeter– go to Spring training games with my son and he is a complete— how to say— dick (can i say that) towards the fans; if you ever here the expression “the Yankees way,” that’s what it means– Spring traing is supposed to be, used to be a good time for interaction between fans and players, autographs, throwing balls into the stands, etc,the Yankees do not even acknowledge the fans’ presence-very dissapointing, only exception was Johnny Damon who is an extremely nice guy
oh, yeah, and he’s a double play machine
I have no idea what was wrong, I finally just turned the thing off and then on and that seemed to do it. The other computer was fine, but I am not getting up, it has gotten cold this week.
none that i know of. the knee is keeping me pretty house bound — i’m limiting what i do to try to reduce the odds of it blowing out. i figure i’ll keep a pretty low profile and try not to stress out about seeing the doc wed
sometimes a total reset is the best fix. i have no idea why that works but it does in a lotta cases.
my kid’s school got destroyed today by Florida State, 51-7; very sad— personally, I think the kids have quit on themselves
Wed. will be bigger than the birthday. I hope it goes well, you need to be done with this sucky time that has been freakin’ endless.
i hear ya bg — i just want it over and done with. i’m ready for healing pain vs the destructive pain i’ve been having. i am getting to where i hate that brace almost as much as that blasted hospital bed *laughing* at least wed i’ll know what the plan is… and how long etc
steph’s in north carolina today for a soccer game. they had one yesterday in south carolina and have another one monday in georgia. i had no idea she would be competing against schools in other states. her first year of playing and the school’s first year of having a womens soccer team.
Really? I’ve met a few; only remember one, though, a girl in my second high school. Lost touch with her completely, though. Half my family seems to be October birthdays, though…can’t even keep track of them all; my Mom, youngest cousin, her daughter, a couple of others more distant, plus another friend and her son…
Hey, bgrothus! How are you? Will you be coming by PullUpaCat? I skimmed Pujll Up a Chair, and it seems Peggy will be doing it.
I see OmAli talked to Southern Dragon, and he may be out of the VA hospital by now. Hope so. Hope he takes it easy for awhile, though.
Gotta go. Nite, everybody!
I have been falling asleep early and wake up early, not sleeping very well lately, so I’ve been missing your llns.
g’nite tejan — my family were all spring’s.. march, april, may and june. i’m the only fall baby
i’ve heard they go well with one’s first cuppa
aw shit.. i did it again
Hope I sse you at puyc.
Sometimes I read it in the AM, but I miss you in real time.
tis about time for token to save a tree. thanks for letting me hang out with ya’ll this week. am looking forward to seeing what tut’s got up his sleeve for sun and mon.
g’nite all
wow! tough schedule
i’ve missed you too bg — we’ve been through a lot
did what
My father had a lot of stuff he saved for museums, and we realized someone has stolen a lot of it including the camera that was featured on that History program that never aired. I am very depressed about it.
snagged the 99 *sigh*
aw shit… that’s terrible bg. i’m so sorry.
Totally sux, eh, M’dear…? ;-)
Ooh, that does royally suck, bg…! 8-(
hey guys, i coulcn’t get to sleep and now it’s hitting med— meds’ll do that; take care, everybody
oh man, sucks, sorry
Sweet dreams, Suz…! *g*
Pleasant dreams, BFL…!
token’s eyes are starting to bulge… i really gotta let him out…. *le poof*
Yes, even worse b/c it is someone who knows the stuff and my father, it would seem. Not the sort of thing done by a common thief.
That truly is pathetic, bg…! 8-(
