Webb Wilder — Just Had To Laugh.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening firepups — how’s everyone doing tonight?
Aloha, Suz and lln pups…! I wish I could laugh after tonite’s abysmal debate…! 8-(
Hi, Suz. Hope you are doing well in your new nest. I think a new knee will make you so, so happy! I know many folks with new knees who can’t believe they didn’t do it sooner.
Oh, and all’s well in the ‘nard. Changing seasons. Lots of fog today before sun broke through in the late afternoon for an hour or two. I walk with a friend of mine a few miles inland a couple of afternoons a week….. was sunny when I left home and deeply fogged in when I returned. Perfect weather for a nice fire!
aloha tut — i had to turn it off — my landlord came over and was doing some minor repairs so i missed most of it
how’s paradise tonight?
Could always be better, M’dear, but, all seems to be relatively quiet on the western front…! ;-)
I thought Chris Matthews was going to have a stroke: “Where was Obama???? Where was Obama????”
I’d ask the same question. Where was Obama? Not a clue.
hey dearie. i called today and made arrangements to see a surgeon, not dr t who is way booked up, on 10/17 to discuss the surgery. i told the nurse i wanted it done as fast as possible and she suggested i used their vancouver washington clinic since they had earlier appointments and a surgery schedule that is not as crowded as the clinic that i had been using in sunnyside.
sounds like your fall switch has been thrown. supposed to get down to 35 here tonight but i doubt it will — still a comfy 61 outside. what did you do today?
You didn’t miss much. It’s obvious though, politician’s know they can’t tell the truth and get elected.
did he not get a tingle up his leg tonight?
Made me think of the “eleventy dimensional chess” that folks used to mention. I never could figure out what they were talking about. I, for sure, can’t figure out where the ‘real’ Obama was tonight. I think someone said something about 60 million viewers (hyperbole, I’m sure), and if a poll were taken, I figure 50 million would vote for Mitt. What a debacle.
hey tuez — how’s floridaze tonight? i gotta say, when he showed up about 20 min after it started, i was relieved to turn it off.
I thought Big Ed best summed it up with his official pronouncement that Obummer was merely ‘Off his Game’, tonite…! ;-)
My Montana daughter said it was low 70′s yesterday….. and then 41 and snowing today! I’m too old for that kind of ‘playfulness’!
Another thing I couldn’t figure out tonight, cutting loopholes, no matter who they benefit, is, in fact, a fuckin’ tax increase. No one called that lie out.
I was actually more interested in the Jill v. Rocky debate that wasn’t.
saw this on the twitter machine earlier:
Quite a cold front! Temperature down to 38 in Denver after reaching 83 this afternoon! At one point dropped 18 deg. in 1 hour!
Quite a cold front! Temperature down to 38 in Denver after reaching 83 this afternoon! At one point dropped 18 deg. in 1 hour!
i think we are going to go from summer to winter with very little fall this year. iirc the almanac said it was going to be a harsh winter???
A whole lot of lies weren’t called out, on either side, tuez…! 8-(
i’m glad i missed it all. i’ve had to take a big step back from being such a political news junkie.
too bad that one didn’t turn out like you hoped… what happened? did they agree too much?
But that one was so obvious and didn’t require any citations. It truly was a WTF moment.
I solely blame the empty rhetorical blackhole that had suddenly appeared in Denver, Suz…! ;-)
Good evening, Suz. Acrisp & clear evening tonight, and a beautiful almost-full moon. Hey CT, tuez, Dearie. I take it you all enjoyed the debate, then./s
Obama didn’t seem to call any of the lies out. If someone would put the home mortgage deduction on the line, you would see … in an instant!… where people come down. Talk reality, facts, truth. Oh, well, wishful thinking.
They both agreed too much and made platform speeches. That said, I was working and only had 1/2 an ear focused.
holy moly — weather dood is saying 29 tonight – down from the earlier 35 prediction.. i’m still showing its 59 out on my porch
*snort* that bad eh?
hey past — how ya doing tonight?
Maybe the problem is Obama’s bubble. Seems anyone who reads at the Lake could have made minced meat out of either of them, without breaking a sweat or even shaking the cobwebs.
I will say though, both O and Rmoney brilliantly argued for single payer.
Ha! This was the worst ‘debate’ I’ve ever seen. It looked like someone stole Obama’s batteries. So blaze….. like he didn’t have any interest. Nodding while Romney was trashing him. It was awful. And I forgot to get popcorn, so it was a total bust for me.
It was gruesome, M’dear…! ;-)
from what everyone is saying, sounds like one needed a bong to enjoy the debate, not popcorn…
Yeah, I think that’s the ticket……
On edit: but out here in USA USA we’re busy dodging the feds over medical mj…… don’t they have some real terrists to go after?????
No, some acid, so you could see Rmoney’s nose growing.
was gonna use this video tonight but discovered i had used back in the 08 debates…
LOL; never thouhgt of that but a great idear
what i saw was brutal; from beginning to whenever i stopped watching
so tonight was the brown acid that needed a warning?
Agreed, I had to go in the other room and turn something else on. Obama was lost without his teleprompter.
Hey, CT, is the dear munchkin still doing well after his ordeal? Thinking of him….. and of your ‘better half’ also.
much as it sucked, no need to despair for obama—- yet— with the shit coming out about Libya and the way the repubs are playing it with an investigation and all, if Obama comes out like he did tonight, he could be fuh-uh-uhked
hey bfl — how’s tcb tonight? the part i did hear they both sounded like the teacher in a charlie brown cartoon
i turned my attention to baseball about a half hour in
And at 29, please let me re-spell that state of dis interest: blase.
English teachers throughout the Republic thank you.
LOL; the thing i thought of–honesytly was reagan-mondale #1 when nancy complained after that his handlers were trying to stuff his head with too many facts and he was a doddering mess; let Obama be Obama and let the chips fall where they may; if tonight WAS Obama being Obama then that’s not good for him
I’m of the opinion he should be fucked, screwed, blued and tattooed. Relegated to the dustbin of history. I got no hopey, changy, he gets no second term.
This was kind of how I felt about Gore back in the day. His election to lose, and he went at that with enthusiasm. This one was Obama’s to lose, and he seems to be playing his role. If I didn’t believe in the directors behind the scenes before, I certainly do now. Screw ‘em all.
tcb is OK; daughter went to spain, remember;
last weekend was Ibiza; this weekend is Milan; shit, honey, when you gonna be in Spain, you remember Spain– and go to as many museums as bars, maybe
Aloha, Dearie…! Yes he’s doing well, I will rest easier, tho, once they do the EEG on him…!
I should add that the Better Half is also doing better, but, not at all thrilled at taking mega-doses of clindamycin…!
we’ll talk about it over a bagel on tuesday, or monday
from the wee bit i saw, neither one of them sounded like they were enthused to be there debating… both just going through the motions. i’m sorta used to seeing that from rmoney but it was startling to see passive obama instead of the way he was in the 08 race
Can I be your daughter?
that will probably not be cool for the kid, they use goop on the head ick
Yes. I’m sure that you will be comforted by a good report from the docs. But very encouraging that since the fever came down, munchkin has been doing well. Love to all.
if you pay your own way, unlike my current one
It’s next Tuesday that you should show up at work on time, or at least before I get kicked out of the jury pool.
she’s staying in touch with ya tho right? those phone calls and facebook messages was how i stayed sane when steph went to the midwest. too far away to drive in a day
well that takes all the fun outta it *pouting*
gotta run; i was actually looking forward to that– but i really shouldn’t be surprised; obama didn’t impress me in debates in ’08 and would have gotten creeamed if McCain wasn’t such a ninny
I figured dad was pickin’ up the tab.
that means no LLN on mon nite
you can play on the computers they have there
*heh* I visited far more Guesthauses and Wineries along the Rhine and Mosel rivers, than museums or castles, BFL…! ;-)
Yup, I know. See since I’m a juror, I have to show up on time. You big wigs can mosey on it at will.
for one; she needs money for Milano; just had to have a glow in the dark “what happens in Ibiza Stays in Ibiza” t-shirt and the drinks that go with it; ka-ching! Daaaaaaaaaad! i neeeed moneeeeeeeeeeeeeey
It was like watching two corpses. If only they’d let Ron Paul, Jill Stein and Rocky Anderson participate; now that would have livened things up!
and wwhen i’m late i blame the jurors for taking up all the elevators
Personally, I like to both eat and drink my way through different countries.
obama sent me an e-mails saying “I hope I made you proud, Beerfart” i sent one back “Actually, you didn’t; in fact, you sucked”
can’t have that yanno… (/s) the powers that be would never allow the truth to be spoken at a national forum
Did you ask her what exactly is staying in Ibiza? I mean it’s a fair question, if you have to buy the coverup.
If I’m late, I’ll blame the lawyers.
*snort* good one dood
betchya don’t get a response
lawyers *edit – video swapped out for better one*
I remember feeling sure that Gore really, really did not want to take on the coming recession that resulted from the Clinton years….. he was the worst debater I’ve ever seen. With each debate I said, “Okay, he is trying to lose.”
With Obama tonight I got a flashback to those sensations. Maybe he really is done and doesn’t want to do more than claim that he brought ‘universal’
‘health care’ to ‘America.’ And then go start collecting what he feels is owed him.
*heh* Jagerschnitzel mit pom frites go down mighty fine with the local Haus brau…! ;-)
I think you may be right. Neither party wants to go down with the ship.
they thanked me for my e-mail; “friend” not “Beerfart” anymore
takes me back to right the end of obama’s first year
Yet, we all are, as they’re frantically re-arranging the Deck Chairs on the SS Titanic…! 8-(
Hey y’all…I didn’t watch the debate – did either of them say anything that wasn’t a lie?
hey that guy — how’s the silicon valley tonight?
Silicon Valley is rocking to Webb Wilder. I’ll never under stand why he didn’t get big…But then again, you’re never too small to hit the big time…
AND…Is George Bradfute (the guy in the cowbot hat) a badass or what? He’s the tone chaperone!!!
But seriously, was the debate even worth watching?
i missed most of it — my landlord came over and unstuck a painted shut window in the kitchen
In retrospect, TG, No…! But, being the political junkie that I am, I just had to watch…! ;-)
I was playing out – totally missed it. Don’t care. I’m voting for Obama, nothing can change that, so watching the debates is little more than mental masturbation.
I’d rather vape, know whut ah mean?
OMG: that’s the perfect metaphor for the debate. I couldn’t watch it; I was busy unsticking a painted shut window in my kitchen.
I wish that fit on a bumper sticker!
i think most folks have made up their mind who they are going to vote for barring one of the two being caught with a dead hooker or a live boy in their bed, as that old saying goes. early voting has already started. i think tonight and the rest of the debates are all performance art with the targeted audience being the powers that be — not us
*laughing* it really was perfect timing on his part
Lucky you, M’dear…! ;-)
I think so, too. Of course, I’ve never voted for a republican in my life.
I think that’s what bothered my about Obama tonight….. early voting is taking place. I just wish he could have stepped up, given a better performance of being President, quit nodding in agreement with everything Mitty was spewing. I felt abandoned. And I so do not like being abandoned!
I watched the whole damn thing. Then the CurrentTV commentary: Al Gore, Jennifer Granholm, John Fugelsang, Cenk Uygur, and Eliot Spitzer. And, when that ended, I tuned in to MSNBC.
Romney caught Obama flatfooted. Perhaps the most relevant observation of the evening was made by Al Gore: Romney had been training/rehearsing/practicing for several days IN DENVER. Obama got there at 2:00pm local time. Denver is a mile high, and speaking only for myself, I’m useless for several hours when I get to that altitude. No athlete would think of competing at that altitude without a period of adjustment.
That said, IMHO, Obama should fire his coaches. There were several things that came up for which he should have had pre-memorized answers, e.g., the alleged $716-billion cut to Medicare. Either, Obama did not prepare, or his team let him down.
Or he really just doesn’t give a shit.
hey wigwam — how’s the inland empire tonight?
I just wish he could have stepped up, given a better performance of being President, quit nodding in agreement with everything Mitty was spewing.
Obama is a self-confessed Blue Dog. He agrees with all that unseen-hand stuff that Romney blithers. He, like Romney, believes that the free market could do a better job than government.
Hi Suzanne. We’re cooling down. They say that the high Friday will be in the 80s. And, I’m much looking forward to that.
Then who needs him? Let Mitt and the Marauders take the country down.
… I felt abandoned… That’s it in a nutshell…! I brook no illusions that the FP debate will be any different…! 8-(
So far, I’m convinced that he desperately wants a second term. But, hey, there is no intrinsic reason he should want it. He and his wife have plenty of money, and he’d be a much happier man kicking back with her.
Well, Belize seems to be lovely in the fall. Someone else can turn the lights out. And to the families of the soldiers who will continue to die in the ME while our ‘betters’ fiddle, don’t blame me.
80 can feel so much cooler when compared to those hot hot days… had so many hot days here this summer that those 80′s were refreshing when they finally arrived.
What makes you believe that he wants it? He sure didn’t ooze any such ‘want’ this evening.
congrats on snagging the happy lucky 99 wigwam!!!
I have near-term reasons for wanting The Lesser Evil to win. But, longer term, we might be better off suffering an extinction of the middle class.
Blowback truly is a b*tch…! 8-(
Certainly not this evening, but thus far he has been campaigning quite hard. And, he showed a lot of enthusiasm at the convention. But, if he wants out, he should have done everyone a favor and gotten out months ago.
evening, Suzzzz – how’s everyone tonight?
In what way could we be better through the extinction of the middle class? I think it is way past time to take on the ‘overlords’…… and, me, well, I’d start with Pete Peterson’s grandson, one of the most loathsome spawn to ever do reality TV. I don’t even know if he’s googleable…. but he’s a great representative of what the 1% turns out.
hey ppd — how’s the monterey bay tonight?
The formerly “middle” class could then turn militant. Currently, they are too comfortable and still dream of how things will be when they, individually, join the 1%.
But, to continue, the sooner we take on the overlords the happier I’ll be. I know nothing of Peterson’s grandson, but Michael Hiltzik had an excellent column on Peter Peterson himself in this morning’s LA Times.
Looked like he was on depressants.
See, I know lots of middle class people. I don’t anyone who wants to be or expects to be a 1%er — don’t know any who buy lottery tickets even. The middlers that I know just want to live a decent life and make sure their kids get educated and such. It’s not the middlers who are sickos…. it is the richie riches who cannot count their houses and cannot ever, ever get enough of whatever. Let’s just take them out….. there are not that many of them, really.
Currently, they are too comfortable and still dream of how things will be when they, individually, join the 1%.
Ironically, what are they waiting for, Greece-like austerity…? 8-(
I remember a visit to Mexico City back in 1967 … the rich were behind huge walls and had security to ‘help’ them when they went out. What a life. And that’s where we seem to be now. Disgusting.
time for token to save a tree. thanks for hanging out tonight peeps
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
If all members of the middle class felt and voted that way, this would be a much different (and better) country.
They refuse to admit that we are in a class war, and have been since about 1980. When I use the phrase “collective action” many people get up and walk away. To them, collective action is immoral, irresponsible, and decadent.
