I think Box Turtle meant “silver bullet” The point is well taken though. Even the Republicans acknowledge that nobody likes Willard. His only chance lies in the people hating Obama more, proving that the “lesser of two evils” vote is truly a bipartisan thing.

The Golden Bullet is a magic bullet that hits exactly what you want it to exactly where you want it to.

The theory is that if you shoot enough bullets in the general direction of your target, one of them will become the Golden Bullet. Like Iraqi anti-aircraft fire during the gulf war.

That’s Willard’s biggest weakness. They have nothing but the fictions that have been peddled by right wing ideologues to the rabid, mostly racist base. That just ain’t gonna play in a debate setting where his opponent can immediately say “bullshit”. Obama’s biggest strength is the fact that he’s not a teabagger, waving his gun and his racism around.
