Ah, the Republican Party — no to evolution, no to global warming, no to actual voting illegalities in favor of non-existent ones, and of course, no to scientific polling.
What else have they suddenly become in favor of…oh yes, impeaching over foreign policy disasters on made up facts.
Extremists from groups linked to al Qaida struck the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, in a “deliberate and organized terrorist attack,” the top U.S. intelligence agency said Friday, as it took responsibility for the Obama administration’s initial claims that the deadly assault grew from a spontaneous protest against an anti-Islam video.
The attack, was of course, terrible and there were shifting rationales — but one could ask how it merits impeachment in comparison to how the Bush Administration handled post-9/11, or hell pre-9/11, or the entirety of the Iraq War.
The terrible trust truth is that there is a pretty good argument about the illegality of the use of drones by the Obama Administration — except the GOP has no objections to that and would likely be worse.

Aloha, Fez man…! Don’t you mean the ‘terrible truth’, instead of ‘trust’…?
Btw, I did chronicle some of the earliest back-pedaling on the Libyan fiasco… “It’s Just Damage Limitation Now”
Only 36 more days ’till the election. The suspense is terrible… I hope it’ll last.
I don’t get the GOP. Despite overwhelming evidence that things like politicizing terrorist attacks and their war on lady parts is hurting them, they can’t help themselves doing both.
Good morning, Margaret. The zinger will rescue them.
The Romney campaign is currently attempting to transport the zinger to the debate preparation bunker. They shall be aided by the sounds of somber music played on grammophone records and also by the chanting of laments from Fox and Friends.
I read about that. Probably the most absurd theory the GOP has come up with. The zinger didn’t rescue Palin, except in the eyes of Pat Buchanan.
Good morning, pups. Today it’s Keller and Krugman. In “The Burmese Odd Couple” Mr. Keller says freedom is breaking out in Myanmar, and he has a question: Who deserves the credit? Prof. Krugman, in “The Real Referendum,” says it looks as if President Obama could emerge with a clear mandate to protect the social safety net.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. [sigh] Another Monday… As far as Huckleberry and his crap, I suppose if you can’t accuse the president of getting his knob polished you’ve got to use whatever you can create out of whole cloth. Have a great day.
He may emerge with a mandate but I doubt he’ll emerge with the desire. He’s already making
compromisesurrender noises.Quoth the Krugman:
“Economic Patriotism” = Zombie Simpson-Bowles. Soon.
Yes. This is an important piece by KThug. He is saying quite loudly and aggressively that Obama has a mandate to do exactly the opposite of what he plans to do.
A fresh horror in today’s nooz:
Nato troops among 13 dead in suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan
A suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed at least 13 people and wounded scores more when he detonated his explosives as a joint Nato and police patrol passed through a busy square.
Is anybody getting the feeling they don’t want US there with our “democracy”?
I wonder whose body the the soldiers peed on this time.
Yesterday HuffPo opened with the existential cry of “WHY?”
( i guess they meant why are we there)
About a year ago I read an article in National Geographic about satellite deep mapping being done all over Afghanistan for minerals and rare earths. Boy, were they excited by these troves!
So, there’s your answer, if the pesky natives/barbarians would just get out of our way, we could have this bounty and make more iPhone 5 or 6′s.
Not much oil, but who cares? Lots of GOLD!
I’m am increasingly spectacle of the al Quaeda stuff. Surely there are more people over there who hate us for our freedoms than this rag tag band of outlaws?
The NeoCons got their wish for a de-stabilized Middle East tho, didn’t they?
And around and around it goes.
I hope to the GODS these “R” loons don’t get their finger near the trigger of the football.
After the election is safely past, it will be all Bowles-Simpson, all the time.
ForwardConfidence.Hope springs eternal in the human breast or is that beast?
We’ll see. If Mittens gets in sure.
Obama may or may do it slow, like kicking the disabled to the curb. THAT’S already started. Useless mouths ya know?
But, I have a feeling the bankers and such (Walmart) are beginning to think that a drop of kindness toward their customers might increase their increasingly diminishing bottom line.
So maybe the old people wills till have a place to waste their retirement savings on more Chinese junk/poison
I interpret this as KThug throwing down the gauntlet.
Shorter KThug: Now that you have won the election, Barack, and there is a clear mandate to reject S-B, what are you going to do? If you insist on S-B — a fundamentally evil set of ideas — I’m going to slam your ass.
Because once he “compromises” Social Security away, the Republicans will join him in a chorus of kumbay-yah and together we will go into the future with our tea party brethren, no longer divided but united so that government of the rich, by the rich and for the rich shall not perish from this Earth.
Gotta go to work.
Morning, lovely harvest moon visible now, in the cleared skies.
Foreign wars are the property of the right, and they’re not letting anyone get by with ending their messes.
How do you think the Huckster would be faring had he been nominated?
G’Morning, Ruth.
I did have my photo date with that moon last night. :)
Are you good?
Petraeus knew when to run and hide, no?
He’s be a tad sillier than the present nominee. And selling even more books.
Cool and brisk mornings make me excellent.
McCain on Morning Joke: The Afghan surge wasn’t big enough.
Shorter John McCain on MoJoe this morning: I still can’t believe this blah whippersnapper beat me….
He’s just about to say that OBL is still alive.
Good. Send me some cool, please?
He had more cred showing up in the closet with Amy Poehler.
Neither was the stimulus, but people didn’t die quite so directly because of that, so it’s okay with the codger.
I’m going after the cool, myself. Tripped out into the front yard to gaze at the moon, nice. Glad to share.
It was very awesome to park our butts down the hill to wait for the moon rise, and boy howdy when it did, it was well worth the wait. I haven’t loaded the photos yet, but I can’t imagine that the shots will come close to showing what we experienced. Like a lot in life.
Funny, how the moon feels so big when you’re out there with it, but the camera just doesn’t share that.
I’d claim I was inventing new usages for the word trust, but that would be a lie. You are correct, thanks.
or hell pre-9/11, goes unnoticed.
When has Krugman ever been paid attention to by this admin?
I also made it clear in Krugman’s comment section that this is also a mandate on women;s rights….everybody seems to have forgotten about that little bit of sending us back in time.
I just can’t figure why all these “serious” men seem to think yesterday’s ideas were better when they didn’t work for anyone….wait! they worked for the Lord’s didn’t they?
Always found it funny that nobody called Jesus “Lord” until feudalism came long.
There is no evidence that the GOP would be worse about the use of drones than the Obama Administration.
