Lord Romney, speaking to a gathering of his loyal Dukes, Duchesses, and lesser nobles last Spring, was quite clear: “There are 47% who are with [Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to healthcare, to food, to housing, to you name it … these are people who pay no income tax.”
Bounders. Cads. Layabouts. Moochers. Lazybones. You know the labels. But do you know these people specifically? Let me introduce you to a few of them by name.
Pepco Holdings, General Electric, and Pacific Gas and Electric.
Wisconsin Energy, CenterPoint Energy, and Consolidated Edison.
Tenet Healthcare, Boeing, and Verizon.
Ryder, Mattel, and Corning.
Every one of them paid no income tax. Indeed, according to the Center for Tax Justice, over the last four years, taxpayers paid them and 18 other major corporations more than $78 million. Put another way, CTJ is making the point that you paid their corporate taxes for them.*
And corporations are people, my friend. Lord Romney told us that one too. Some are just lazier and more dependent on government than others.
________
* Unless, of course, you are one of the 35,000 people making more than $200,000 who paid no income taxes either.

Bless you, Peterr.
How many of these companies and or their executives gave to Mitt?
Well said, Peterr, but rmoney and the repugs are hoping that the general public doesn’t realize what you are pointing out. Not only do they not pay taxes, they ship jobs out of the country so there are fewer of us paying taxes.
didn’t know corning was still around; is that the same people who made that shitty cookware;;;; what are they up to
If we add in all the older mostly White more likely to be male ( I am so ashamed of my gender) Fox News viewers collecting Social Security and voters in rural areas who depend on farm subsidies in other words Mitt’s base is actually the dependent ones.
And with fewer of us paying taxes who will pay for the things even the rich need, like roads and bridges, police and fire, etc? Who will buy their “stuff?”
This is a great idea for a series. Choose one company or fat cat for each story, then note there are x number like them.
So I’m over on THAT OTHER SITE and reading about Ann doing a $250 per plate fundraiser.
$250.
Scraping nickels off the floor.
Even if there were a few hundred people there, 400 times 250 is – $100,000. Minus expenses. The Romneys make that much in three days sitting on their lily white butts doing nothing.
It must really gall them to have to spend their time at an elaborate charade raising cash for politics. How they must hate it.
And that makes me smile.
Given the recent polling it seems mitt is the one who has a 47% base and Obama has around 50% with the rest undecided or open to shift their vote. Maybe Mitt just misread his polling numbers?
I wonder if Mitt given the recent polling and his drop in fund raising will have to start lending his campaign money?
If memory serves, Mitt put a bunch of his own money in last cycle. This time, nothing. He’s too good a businessman to squander his own precious on a loser like himself.
How about the Hired Thugs… Halliburton and Blackwater/Xe?
Hey, doncha know that the lazy, slacker, oafish, low-life moochers in the 47% simply are not *paying* the uber-rich and their mega-corporations ENOUGH money to “create jobs”????? Whyever would the serfs even expect the 1% to pay ANY taxes? Taxes are to be paid only by the moochers, not the 1%. Get a clue. /s
Heh… that’s pretty funny, actually. No doubt it galls Lord & Lady Muck that they have to “rub shoulders” – shudder!!!! – with such low lifes. Sucks to be them, don’t it???
Bring back titles so we can identify these people easier.
I really enjoyed the way this was written. Don’t hate Lord Romney just because he’s above us servants.

Nearly two-thirds of U.S. companies and 68% of foreign corporations do not pay federal income taxes
Spread the word.
People will become more useless to the 1% so there will be more sudden leaps of unknown diseases from animals to people and the world population will be cut at least in half. The people can work at wages set by the 1% (there will still only be 1% at the top) and everyone not in the 1% will still be cannon fodder as Oceana continues to fight East Asia and Emmanuel Goldstein is still to be hated.
Romney’s just jealous. After finding every single deduction and credit that he could find for his tens of millions of dollars HE still had to pay. It isn’t fair that folks that making hundreds of times less than he did ALSO took advantage of every single deduction and credit so they “didn’t have to pay one penny more to the government than they had to” and ended up with zero liabilities.
Waaaaaaah.
What a hypocrite, the guy runs around bragging that “he didn’t pay one penny more than he had to” and then whines when he finds out that others did the same.
