But having decided the economy will not be enough to give them victory, like a campaign full of Baldrick’s they have a cunning plan:
Ryan was chaffing at Boston constraining him from talking about and defending his policy ideas from Democratic attacks. Ryan wanted to be “unleashed,” the Republican said.
And Ryan’s latest campaign swing offers the clearest indication that he’s gotten his wish. On Friday at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C., Ryan offered a new gambit on offense, attacking Obama on social issues and income inequality in one fell swoop.“’We’re all in this together’ – it has a nice ring,” Ryan said, quoting a frequent Obama line. “For everyone who loves this country, it is not only true but obvious,” he said. “Yet how hollow it sounds coming from a politician who has never once lifted a hand to defend the most helpless and innocent of all human beings, the child waiting to be born.”
When all else fails — at least pull out the “abortion card” — yeah, that’ll convince that handful of wavering independents.
One gets the feeling this plan was dreamed up by the same adviser who blames Obama for abandoning Czechoslovakia.

About Firedoglake
What sounds “hollow” are the words being spewed by a politician “who has never once lifted a hand to defend the most helpless and innocent of all human beings.” Those already born.
And now for something completely different.
The GOP will protect you from conception to birth. After that, you’re on your own.
Good morning, pups. Today we have Keller and Krugman. In “The Grand Old Straight White Men’s Party” Mr. Keller says New York Republicans have some practical lessons for the rest of the party. In “Hating on Ben Bernanke” Prof. Krugman says while the Federal Reserve changes course to help the economy, the Romney camp gets even more extreme.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. I thought you were joking about “abandoning Czechoslovakia.” Gawd… And she’s spewing that crap on a national “news” program that purports to be all serious and crap. I guess it would be too much to ask, but did Snuffleupagus (or anyone else) call her out on that? Silly me… Have a great day.
I don’t see what the Pubs are worried about.
Dog on the Roof is easily the worst campaigner in the world, and yet Obama needed Bill Clinton’s help to get even a small bump, which is now fading. As you’ve probably noticed, Obama is incapable of creating bumps.
Americans are sick to death of being called racists and will vote for a lamppost to get the Democrats out of there. The election will be close enough to steal, and it will be stolen. Also spracht Perry.

I’ll bet Jake Tapper just sat there, nodding like a marionette,
For those not familiar with Neocon-speak (similar to Scientology-speak), she referred to Poland and Czechoslovakia. In the cult, that’s an obvious reference to Obama’s 2009 decision to halt the installation of anti-ballistic missiles in eastern Europe.
Of course the Czech people hated the idea. They threw out the government that agreed to “take one for the team” and made the agreement with W on their ears. It would have been the most destabilizing development for European security since Reagan, and incidentally would have made the Czech Republic a primary target of Russian medium range missiles.
Which means we “abandoned” them. The words are English, but the language is Cult-speak.
These lunatics want to run American foreign policy. Again. And they will, if Rmoney wins.
That might be true…if the Electoral College didn’t elect the President…which it does.
I couldn’t stomach more than a few minutes of your video, with it’s racist, yes RACIST! (and I don’t use that word lightly), images. I don’t care if you didn’t make them, you included them. I used to be called racist for supporting Clinton over Obama so I know a bit about it. If you’re tired of being called racist, maybe you should stop including such imagery in your videos. Just sayin’.
BTW; Though Obama didn’t have a whole lot to do with it, the fact is I lost my job under Bush and now I have one. Worse? Maybe for somebody who really never had to be out of work.
The Republican party’s focus is rapidly shifting to denying Barack Obama a third term.
Good morning all,
The electoral college is constitutional and can be constitutionally changed there’s nothing in the constitution about electronic gaming machines being substituted for actual , you know, re-countable ballots. The damage done to the underbelly of the country by redistricting and the republican onslaught we saw in democratic states, like here in Pa., was caused by not demanding an actual tangible votes .
king reagan proclaimed “Trust But Verify ” for a good reason.
Yes. I’m not a fan of electronic voting either and while the EC can be constitutionally changed, it isn’t going to happen between now and November.
Gotta go to work!
There’s 28 minutes of that? Talk about an exercise in self-aggrandizement…
Four years ago today the Fed was in full panic mode. The banking system was in free fall. The Fed banned all short selling of all financial stocks, and began an emergency series of T-bill issues to replenish the mountains of cash they were throwing at Wall Street to keep the economy from collapsing.
Four years ago next month the owners of the company I work for looked at two competent, dedicated co-workers sitting at adjacent desks, and decided one of them had to go. I guess I was fortunate to be the one selected to stick around. I’ve been doing my colleague’s job in addition to mine for the last four years. He spent a year and a half out of work, and almost lost his house before he found another job.
I’m very willing to talk about whether I’m better off than I was four years ago. The one goal of the clowns who were running the economy in 2008 was to put off the collapse of the housing bubble they created until after the election. They couldn’t even do that. I do not want them running our country’s economy. They don’t deserve to be dog catcher.
There are more campaign signs for Brown for Senate than there are for Obama and Rmoney combined in my neighborhood.
They’re right, Mitt needs to try something else. Turn Ryan loose? Not unless you’ve given up and just want to make a statement. He’ll turn off independents and some moderate GOPers rapidly.
I think Mitt’s best bet is to try to go Fair Tax. I see a lot of Fair Tax signs in the area, it’s obvious that scam has a number of low income people fooled.
Boxturtle (Nobody wants to be part od scoiety anymore, everybody wants their own fortress)
They need to be hammered on that point. They’re NOT pro-life, they’re anti-abortion. Big difference.
I’m pro-choice, yet I’m more pro-life than most GOPers.
Boxturtle (You there! Git yore ass pregnant, barefoot, and back into that there kitchen!)
It still amazes me that mini-Cheney get’s any air time at all. She must be blackmailing somebody.
Boxturtle (Plus, I think there’s a softball agreement for questions with her, too)
mojoes pulling out the aloof Obama card with woodward this ayem. oh, yeah the repugs were out to get him, but but but RELATIONSHIPS….
Ryan’s a genius. He said:
“I never thought of government as something I belong to.”
This coming from a man who became a legislative aide and political operative right out of college, and who graduated from there to the House of Representatives. In the miracle of one simple declarative sentence, he distilled the very essence of what’s gone horribly wrong with the Republican party over the last 18 years. And he’s proud of it.
Bring him on.
Anyone who can make that seriously wrong conclusion likely has a thought disorder….Imagine as a Veep. Nutty would be a fit description.
Black adder clip = great way to start of the week!
