*forward 2 1/2 somersaults, pike position* still have a forking splash
g’evening pups — how’s everyone doing tonight?
Hi, Suz. I think I broke the thread below….. but demi came and gave me a touch through the wires, so it’s all good. Last night I hit the hay at 9:30 PST… amazing how tired just kind of comes on …..
PS: Love your dives!
hey dearie — ya didn’t break it — tis a nice weekend and i’m sure folks are out enjoying it. how’s the ‘nard tonight?
thanks. my forking leg doesn’t like anything in the tuck position — not only am i now just a consultant instead of a practicing heterosexual, i can’t forking tuck.
Fun visit to Santa Barbara Farmers Market with darling daughter and the twins this a.m. and then a visit with my dad. It’s so wonderful for the boys to get to know their great-granddad and for my dad to get to know these adorable little boys.
I went to the boys’ “Grandparents Day” gathering on Friday …. so, so cute! One of their little friends called out that their grandma was there and the boys came running. Such a joy!
We are all going to muddle through whatever our politicians throw at us…. but I’m keeping my pitchfork sharpened and my torch well oiled!
what fun! when i visited jen and jules on thursday, she saw me and came running down the hall saying ‘hi’. i love that squeal of excitement she does when she sees me.
i drove down to a nursery i go past on my way too the ‘burbs for pt and got a mixed pot today. it packed with lavender mums, two kales (one with ruffles and same color but no ruffles for the second) and blue-purple pansies and white pansies tucked down in front. the pot is big and when i stand next to it, the mum tops come up above my knee. i’ve got it on the front porch hanging below one of my two hanging fuchsia plants.
Nice. It sounds like you are in a really lovely area… somewhere you can hunker down. I like that. When I get weary of all the things that need to be done around my house, I stop and just look around and am glad to be living where I’m living. Comfort.
And, now, I’m going to follow the path I took last night and get to bed! Lovely dreams, lovely rest. Best to all!
the lack of a view is discouraging so i’ve decided to pretty up the front porch. if i look at the pretties on the porch i don’t see the telephone poles and electric lines and all those other signs of civilization.
g’nite dearie
Famous Studios was the continuation of Fleshier studios and became Paramount animation. They also did Herman and Catnip, Poppie, Little Audrey and others.
hey cmauk — how ya doing tonight? the wiki on noveltoons i read earlier talked about that and has a buncha interesting trivia.
I am doing good but will head to bed very shortly. I remember watching these cartoons. I think Harveytoons was also part of it as well. They also did Felix the Cat which was a staple of a local Cleveland Kids show.
they are — from that wiki:
harveytoons had a great lineup that are full of childhood memories for me.
suze, did you have Carlin up last night
Good evening all. I just got back from a beautiful beach wedding bringing together a young family, within the safety of their community,…into a marriage that’s got what it takes.
I’m floating on Love, Chardonnay, and the joy of being an elder participating in the rituals of the younger.
It’s all good today.
Also Terrytoons which most notably had Mighty Mouse, Heckle and Jeckle and Tom Terrific.
i always think of popeye when i think of famous studios
Need to hit the hey for me.
Good night all.
*swoon* here i come to save the day. i almost went with a mighty mouse tonight
g’nite cmauk
I’m a big fan of front porch blocking/creating space. My porch is my sanctuary.
If that’s not an American sentiment nothing is!!!
Max Fleisher also did Betty Boop and the early Poppy. One of the first to incorporate live action and animation with Betty Boop and Cab Calloway doing Minni the Moocher.
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight? i spend a lotta time out there. tis where i read and putz with my pots when i’m restless. token loves laying on the welcome mat and snoozing
Minni the Moocher.
tis too bad that max and his brother dave became estranged and ended up giving up control of the studio to paramount. they were so imaginative – i can only wonder what they would have created if they would have been able to put aside their differences.
mighty mouse
when the movie the blues brothers first came out, i fell in love with cab and minnie all over again.
Hey Suzanne and Saturday Night Pups of Fire!
Kathleen Turner speaking at the National Press Club a few days ago.
Good stuff. Also, too:
And this just in: Paul Ryan meditating.
And a comprehensive “Austerity Survival Guide.”
hey shoto — how ya doing tonight?
the austerity survival guide — play dead – ha!
the Survival Guide is as good as any I know– wspecially the one about class warfare;we can’t have that, so play dead
owe me a coke
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight?
check the times — you owe me a latte *laughing*
And some info about the merits of eating catfood. (It’s what’s for dinner.)
And a rare photo of Paul Ryan doing his favorite exercise.
you are chock full of good links tonight shoto! keep them coming!
you’re right; speaking of latte-my kid informs that she is spending all her money in madrid on starbucks and wine; so far every pic on FB is from a bar, so great for these kids to study abroad
Howz about The Flip Side of Sarah Palin?
ok—- hey, i wasn’t here last nite—- did you have Carlin up
dood, if i was her age and abroad, i would totally be doing the same thing.
interesting…. i had not thought of ryan that way but yeah, his wonkiness is way overated.
i think the debates are going to be very revealing
sure did
And since you featured some bits from George Carlin last night, I thought I might post up a bit from Richard Pryor tonight. Apologies for the idiot commercial that one is forced to choke down before the clip begins. And if anyone is offended by language, you should prolly avoid clicking. That being said, I think the bit is way too funny…
Mighty Mouse theme song.
Oy, I’m making a mess all over Edward Teller’s thread and I feel bad. I miss edit.
Can I cry on your shoulders for what an ass I am?
dang
the best thing about lln is ya can post and talk about whatcha want to :) i’ve been looking for some pryor… thanks
hey blue — how ya doing tonight?
And the typists who pass themselves off as “reporters” in DeeCee are inexplicably mesmerized by his “formidable intellect,” when (as a matter of fact) he’s a clown and a fraud in pretty-much every conceivable way.
i miss edit too — come sit here by me
just like palin but without the grifterness whiff?
Yes, but is he shrugging?
OK, mas o menos. Have a lingering cold and lower back pain, which are really making me feel middle-aged.
do you have a back buddy? an old clean sock stuffed with beans or rice with the end tied off — ya can microwave it and put it on the small of your back to help when sitting — at least it helps my low back pain when sitting at the computer.
Thank you.
Now I have to go sort the morning batch of peaches for canning. And learn to lighten my attitude. I heart the nettle shirt. :)
Sweet dreams.
g’nite openhope
My masseuse (and I’d recommend her to you if you were in LA; she’s absolutely primo) recommended a bag of frozen peas; they conform to the shape of your body. And I do have a heating pad. But I haven’t been using either very much; I’m stubbornly just waiting for it to go away. Plus am getting extra half-massages (30 min. sted. 60, concentrating on lower back) and have gotten a referral to physical therapy at my HMO.
And how are you feeling?
i keep a bag of peas in the freezer too – for my knee. my back doesn’t like cold — it will trigger muscle spasms :( my youngest made me a back buddy one year for christmas and i’ve been a fan ever since. you can stick them in the freezer and they hold the cold really long. they are pre-gel pack technology
Well, I have a heating pad, but I’ve been lazy about using it. It looks like it’s just thee and me, and I’m starting to fade. Nighty-night, Suzanne.
g’nite blue
i’m fading too peeps. thanks for hanging out with me this week. am looking forward to seeing what tut has on tap for sun and mon — and hearing how the munchkin’s first birthday luau went.
g’nite all
I need to close my eyeballs for a few hours. Hence, I should probably expire for the evening. Here’s a little tune for y’all. (Again, apologies for the pre-tune idiot commercial.)
Nighty Night, Pupses…
Hi Suz. I’m not sure whether this song is about sex or the muppets, but I figured both of those fit here.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBNS3YSbUB0
hey vmt — i’m thinking its sorta both so its a good fit :)
