Hummingbirds on my mind. I’ve always taken the feeder down at Labor Day to encourage them to head south, but I can’t bring myself to let them go this year. The consensus on the net seems to be that they migrate based on the length of the day and ignore food supplies. So I’m leaving it up for now.

I have to admit that he is a damn good speechifier. But “strengthen” is his standard code word for cutting benefits. And his bipartisan debt commission deadlocked. Yes, his co-chairs wrote their own report, but it did not get endorsed by the required super-majority of the committee. And, just who the fuck are Simpson and Bowles. Bowles has endorsed Paul Ryan and his budget proposal. And, Simpson is the jackass who refers to the 99% as “the lesser people” and to Medicare as a “milk cow with 300 million tits.” And, it’s their report on which he wants to base his next “grand bargain.”

I have 12 years of hummer experience. One would show up in the spring, get in my face, demand food. I’d dutifully feed all summer. Sometime in July they’d bring the kiddies out to play and play and laugh they did. Dive bombing themselves and us. Sometime in October/November, I’d reach for the feeder and one would get in my face and flap its wings and say good bye for the year and thanks for the food.

I love their chatter.

I miss my guys, don’t seem to have them where I live now.

i miss the barn swallows at the coast house. their nest was above my deck and they would swoop and buzz — and a couple times flew in the front door if i had it open. usually they would do an aerial lap of the room and head back outside to the deck

i went over and saw jen and julsie and my son in law. totally spazzed thinking it was wed not thur and was surprised to find mike home. had a nice time — jen got to drive my new to me car and proclaimed it a good match for me. except for the color — she is right, i’m normally a bright blue or purple kinda gal but for some reason this metallic lime green paint appealed to me.

*sigh* she also pointed out that chartreuse is my mother (aka the little woman)’s favorite color and that if i call the car fiona the fiesta, folks are going to immediately think of her being shrek green and not the kick ass fiona from burn notice

Utah is fine tonight, cooled down to the 60′s for the night. Mostly I vegged watching Weeds on Netflix. When Biden started talking about the importance of seeing that our military men and women are treated well, I just couldn’t take it and had to leave the room and go upstairs to watch Weeds to cool off. Right on! I am thinking I will refi A.g.a.i.n, now that the rates are under 3%. I have to finish my 2011 taxes. . .that is one thing I gotta get off my plate tomorrow. Then I can do the paperwork for the loan which has been approved.

Really a good book guide and a stumble through the woods can make dinner. And i am not making funny about stumbling. Really if the time is right you can poke the bushes anywhere and find something for dinner. It is hard to pass on free food.

Well, I have a mortgage that is at almost 7% that I could get at the under 3% rate, and that would really lower the payment for me. Hard to pass on the cheap money. A few years ago I collapsed a mortgage into my home mortgage, and that worked out great because I could not get the thing refinanced any other way. I am talking to my tax guy about this when I do the taxes so I do the right thing. Not sure it is good to have all the payments onto my house, but I think it could be a good move.

Well, it makes me sick to pay at the higher rate, but I have to factor the costs of taxes and insurance that have to be paid, and that makes the savings less, plus I would be extending the payoff by some years, which isn’t bad, but those are factors for sure.

tis a new to me car — only 17000 miles on the car and ford motor replaced the engine under warranty so i’ve got a brand new engine in it. from what i hear, poor little thang had an oil compression problem and didn’t like doing 95… fmc redesigned the gaskets that caused the problem and even paid for the loaner that the dealer lent me while the gaskets were on backorder — it was all on fmc’s dime under warranty.

The sound is rockin’ with harvest. I’m going to sign off to go sort 40 lbs of peaches into Canning Ripeness stages. About 25 lbs need to can tomorrow, but the others need a few more days. Then, I pick up 40 more lbs and 20 lbs of tomatoes to process.
That’s the last of the mellow Hot Water Bath canning. From there on we’re into the drama of pressure canning. And it scares me all over gain. !

I have only just learned of your water problems and geothermo. We have new gas drilling in our area and i know it’s the start of fucking FRACKING. But yea know what my son is 27 and he is clear with this whole thing he knows his life is a fucking crapshoot. He holds his head high and says bring it on as nothing is to lose. Of course i taught him much about life. Still a 27 year old understanding he was given a pile of shit and would die and still was strong. I mean come on.
