ZZ Top — La Grange, live on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, November 6, 2003.
Surf’s up! What’s on your mind?
g’evening pups — elizabeth warren and big dog sure kicked ass tonight — i broke down and watched their speechifying – the first convention coverage i’ve watched
Clinton was damn good. He sounds just like my first hubby. First hubby was from TN, very similar accents, and the voices – identical.
Hi, Suz, I got caught up in the whining from the disaffected who have been haunting the threads of late…..crap! I occupied, best I could. I read and try to stay educated about how the country is falling apart, etc. But, damn, I try not to whine!
I remember telling my kids when they were little, “I can’t hear you when you’re whining” …. and I meant it. Whining just made me go deaf. It’s amazing how fast they gave it up when they found that it didn’t work for them. :)~
It’s going to be a lonnnnngggg season!
Bubba is THE most effective American politician I have ever seen .. hope all is well with you Miz Suzanne ..
*heh* Tube Snake Boogie…
HELL YEAH!!!
You should have seen Lilly Ledbetter last evening. She was AWESOME. I thought she stole the show from Michelle. I would be AFTER Elizabeth Warren if she wasn’t married and I wasn’t taken.
Bubba was Bubba. Simply the best political orator of our generation, maybe even of all time.
more zztop
My daughter said she was impressive and very strong.
hey senator — how’s sac tonight? i loved his fact-checking the gop – among other things he said tonight…
hey dearie — it is! my strategy was to avoid watching any coverage but i couldn’t resist watching tonight. i wanted to see elizabeth warren — big dog was bonus points :)
how’s the ‘nard tonight?
yea. he was great. I liked when he said Obama 45 million trillion jobs, Repugs 0 jobs.
hey tearloch — i’m doing ok. how’s by you?
aloha tut — how goes the prep work for the munchkin’s first birthday luau?
hey thatguy — how goes?
this was great, too.
”People ask me all the time how we delivered four surplus budgets. What new ideas did we bring? I always give a one-word answer: arithmetic.” ~Bill Clinton
Hey Suz an all. Gots to jump in the tub for a soak as all the stuff i been readin abouthttp://news.firedoglake.com/2012/09/05/the-roundup-for-september-5-2012/ makes me feel all slimy and stuff. Be back in a few
he’s a righteous dood
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight?
All is well thanks .. I just had to find time to watch Miz Warren and Bill .. re-affirms my faint hope in your country getting its act together before it is too late .. pendulum is re-positioning up north here with the Citizens finally seeing thru the crap .. I think ..
heard it on the x
Take care all .. I am lurking when I can .. peace be upon you all ..
The ‘nard is good. And the Dem convention is peopled with people like the ones I know. But our local threads have been swarmed by whiners, and I’m bored! I’m sure Mr. Bogg is bored with ‘em, too. You want Obama (imperfect as he is) or Romney (historical imperfections and those yet to appear!)
But let’s move on to more interesting things: How’s your little village of perfection?
i tend to be very cynical when it comes to politics and i found myself stirred and caught up in their speechifying…
how goes your plans to move?
g’nite tearloch
well it aint perfect but it was an ok kinda day today. got a little warm (86) and supposed to be hotter thur and fri – prob in the 90′s… i’ve been rethinking that strategy of getting a portable air conditioner kinda thing in the winter when they are cheaper….
If politics was only about the cult of personality then the dems would always win.
Just picked up a whole bunch of fresh ingredients from our Farmers market today, green onion, maui onion, tomatoes, bok choy cabbage, etc., along with the Salmon, Pork butts, and Chicken for Saturday…! I’m already salting the Salmon for the lomi-lomi…! ;-)
if only they had the actions to go with their words…. i try to remain cynical so i’m not disappointed — ok as disappointed — by their caving and lack of action.
i miss the big dog days – remember thinking how horrible the polarization was then between the two parties – hard to believe that was the good ole days compared to now. at least big dog fought back
I’ve been practicing my hula…..can I come???
i presume there will be pictures and video
Everyone’s invited, M’dear…! ;-)
i’ve been practicing eating for dayam near 58 years – found out i like other people’s cooking best
evening, Suzzz — how’s everyone tonight?
hey ppd — how was your day?
I’ve got to clear out my Flip cam’s memory, I’ve exceeded it’s capacity, but, I’ve also exceeded my poor netbook’s capacity, too…!
beer drinkers and hell raisers
Hi everyone.
A party can I come?
I spent the afternoon prepping all the last tomatoes from my Dad’s tomato plants for oven roasting with garlic, onions, olive oil and herbs. Divine! Then, as they were still watery, I simmered them in a pot for another hour. Added a touch of white vermouth for flavor and let it cook down. Salt, pepper, a bit of chili flakes. Simmer/simmer. Absolutely delicious. But for all that work, the sauce wouldn’t have filled an empty Prego jar! Gave me a whole new perspective on the jars and jars of preserves my grandma used to have in her cellar.
Tomorrow is some green tomato/apple chutney. I’m looking forward to that!
dood….
hey tuez — how ya doing tonight?
oh no! i’ve encountered that too — where i seriously overestimated how much i would end up with… i’ve heard so many horror stories of folks having the opposite experience i guess i over-compensate
Any suggestions…? ;-)
jailhouse tush
clear out your memory card while your food is simmering… you know we want to see pics and video… don’t make me remind ya that i had pics from julsie’s first birthday party and i was confined to a hospital bed…
The sauce is so delicious that I’d happily have three or four times as much. But, it is as it is. But when I recollect the jars and jars of preserved tomatoes in my Grandma’s cellar, I’m just overwhelmed by the amount of work that went into that! And jars and jars of peaches and apricots and such. Back in the day.
Flip cam doesn’t have a ‘memory card’, nor my netbook…! 8-(
If you can’t pull out your lobster pot, you won’t get much.
My twice yearly spaghetti sauce, calls for at least one lobster pot.
Excellent day – completed Mom’s remaining cataract lens replacement this morning — all’s well.
I’m wishing I went to the DNC rather than the RNC. They seem to be having so much fun… PROTESTING.
sometimes i watch those alaska shows and i always marvel at how much gets canned and prepped for winter and am reminded of my grandma doing all that cooking on a wood stove. i envy openhope’s pantry. i would love to have a large stockpile of food for just in case but… my place here is so small i’m not sure where i’d put it all.
is there any way to clear it?
how’s she doing? she tolerated it well?
tis a lot further and that train ride would be a lot longer — ya wouldn’t have been able to do it in a day like ya did the rnc
*heh* I’ll be utilizing a bunch of lobster pots soon when I’m cooking about 30 lbs of pork butt…! ;-)
It’s the prep time that got to me! My back wore out. Once everything was prepped, it just roasted beautifully, and I was (to be truthful) amazed at how delicious the finished sauce was. I put some aside in a small container for my Dad…. I’ll take him some pasta and some parmesan so he can fix himself a lunch of his wonderful tomatoes! It’s been a wonderful growing season, and my dad really did enjoy sharing these tomatoes with his great grandboys! Lovely experience.
Did you see this video?

hey blue — long time no see your fonts — how ya been?
That’s what I’m asking from any of the tech-savvy pups, Suz…! Being such a luddite…! ;-)
dood — i’m a forking luddite too
Not doing too bad. I see you are managing to stay off of your butt..or your knee..or whatever the heck part you fell on. Isn’t being a gramma the best job ever?
Absolute chicanery, blue…! ET and I were exchanging fb remarks earlier about it…! 8-(
dust my broom
the good news is that i’m back on my broken leg – not all the way back but i’m outta that forking blasted hospital bed and into a cute little bungalow in st helens with token :) being a grand is forking grand blue — i had no forking idea.
if i had known then what i know now, i wudda been one of them grandma-wanna-be’s dropping not so subtle hints years ago
You are so polite. I have a long list of words to describe that farce but none of them are printable in public..’g’.
I did have the pleasure of babysitting my grandson today, the munchkin will most certainly wreck havoc upon the Earth some day…! ;-)
Three votes that sounded the same…need a decibel check, Should have been a show of hands. The Lady gave the chair his marching orders after the second vote. Shameless chicanery.
arrested while driving blind
One positive aspect of your forced move is that you will not freeze this winter. You survived a loooong time of immobility. Tough lady you are. I know that my sense of humor would have disappeared during the first week of what you had to endure.
Your grandson is a cutie! He will definitely wreck havoc with the females.
yes — this is her second cataract procedure. So far, so good.
i’ve got electric heat instead of wood stove heat! on the down side, it does get colder here inland than it did on the coast.
both my girls take a particular pleasure in reminding me how i lost my sense of humor *and* did not believe it would get better — that they were right and i was wrong.
my fdl family helped me get through those black nites as much as my family helped during those dark days when it was all playing out. i owe both a huge debt of gratitude
Me to a tee, Suz…! Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers…!
yay! the worst of it is behind her
got any more century kinda rides planned?
He knew he was lying and did it anyways. Disgusting. She definitely did give him his orders.
scroll up dood
OK Im all clean now and smellin sweet fer LLN. Heaven forbid i would come here all DFH. Big storm hit us this past day and we have no tv. Not that we could have seen anything anyway but it’s a way to make the point that we dont really care what the BIG boys are up to.
Fixen to harvest some stinging nettle. Perhaps i can be able to get fiber for to weave seats for the chairs i make. But i am sceptical as i have never tried this.
I know it, and worse yet, blue, he knows it, the little buggah…! ;-)
…wonderful daughters and FDL supporters…the drugs weren’t too shabby either…
what’s wrong with being all dfh dood? its not like our monitors have smell-o-vision.
i sure was on some powerful ones for quite a while too…. tis a good thing that so much of that time was a drug induced blur.
Of course he does…kids are so smart…big mistake when we think they don’t understand their surroundings and their people…
*heh* See what too much beer will do…! ;-)
thank you
Thankfully you had a doctor who knows pills are necessary sometimes. I swear up here the doctors think 99% of people only think they hurt. Idiots!
hehehehehe
i was really impressed with how well i was treated and my well-being looked out for by the kaiser folks. keeping my pain well managed was a high priority for them — even at pt one of the first questions always asked is what my pain level number is
Smell-o-vision i think you just found a new app.
its just now starting to sink in just how significant of an injury i have to the knee… there are times when i think that i would have been better off having total knee replacement done instead of this procedure to stave it off – hopefully for several years to as long as 10 years.
ya would think given the popularity of cooking shows going back to the 50′s, smell-o-vision would already be available
… i would have been better off having total knee replacement done instead of this… I don’t think it was a futile effort to heal it naturally, Suz…!
What about dating sites. I have judged dates just by smell. And i dont mean by what perfume but the real underlying smell that is what the person is. The smell that cant be faked or covered up. You know what i mean?
Interesting that your doctors and care-givers were so thoughtful about pain. I suspect that that is the next to go. With the disrespect for and suspicion of the general populace, I’m sure there will be tests one has to pass in order to get pain relief.
I hadn’t thought of it til last night, but my daughter who had an ectopic pregnancy might have had to face to Morality Squad before being allowed to live. A life had been started, dontcha know? Whose life mattered more?
Crickey!
Screw those assholes.
A good thing they listened to you. Bad as it was, it could have been much worse if your pain was not controlled. I am so glad you got to keep your doggie. One of mine passed last September and it is still a big ache in my heart. They become a huge part of our lives.
i was so scared about having tkr — i had a bad experience when i had mine done in 03 — now that i’ve seen how kaiser does knee care i’m no so scared.
also, i didn’t realize that the rehab would be about the same and for about the same amount of time – a year. that long rehab was one of the things i was trying to avoid. by the time we were having those discussions, i was pretty medicated. i gotta say, they started me on strong stuff from day one.
Good evening, all.
Smell-a -Vision. Very catchy.
Can I add that into my imaginary catalogue of Home Life Hygiene products? I’m working on a beautiful stainless steel skewer set [hand crafted by spiritual people with Metal Skills] form my Home Life Hygiene Lobotomy kit. It’s been a long time dream……..:)!
and the horse they forking rode in on
i can’t wrap my head around the fact they would let the mother die to avoid death to the fetus – which dies when the mother does
I’m Bad I’m Nationwide…
I luves me some ZZ…! ;-)
he was fostered at mel and marie’s for 2 days shy of 6 months. i talked to marie and i’m planning on letting him have a weekend sleepover with them while i head up to seattle. i wanna go see some sights before winter gets here
i’m so sorry for your loss blue
hey openhope — how’s the sound tonight? i keep mine with the jetson’s car
Lovely that Token can go visiting back where he was so carefully cared for, and that you can get some time to explore. Good for both of you and for the caregivers of Token. Proud on all of you!
lovin’
aw crap, i did it again
iT’S MAGIC, AND IT’S MEANT TO BE……… :)~
marie is all excited about having him visit again. she said that taking bean to the beach just isn’t the same without little tokie running around trying to catch the birds
yay, its finally down to 73 inside the house and 67 outside
But i thought the DNC had a patent on that.
Isn’t it great! Life just brings such special stuff…. and sharing is so natural. Wonderful stuff.
With all due respect,..you’re in “That Stage” of recovery. Good enough to move, not good enough to move well. Which is frustrating and horrid. Maybe?
Yeah, we are all chattel now. Cull the herd and cut the costs.
i am totally in that stage. i’ve got a build-up of wanderlust going on too…. was thinking of heading up your way in the next couple of weeks. if you wanna hook up, shoot me off an email. i’ve got some mason jars to return to ya
You betcha!
A sleep over is a sweet idea. I am sure he was well cared for and much loved. Thanks..thirteen and a half years of love..hard to say goodbye.
You might have been drugged but your doctor/s were not. They made the best decision on your care with the facts they saw. Here’s hoping your knee behaves itself for many years to come!
sweet! i wanna see you and also go see dana who brought me books and then took me up to mt st helens.
But of course, M’dear…! ;-)
from your fingers to…. i hope so too. i know they love him and it really is like him going to grandma and grandpa’s for the weekend. he loves his sleepovers there — as long as they are not for as long as this last time :)
you had yours for a long time – it leaves a hole in your heart for sure
Oh, I’m sorry . I went through a tough time with my Dane/Greyhound/Terrier mix, a most beautiful girl. What seemed to be skeletal turned out to be a pinched nerve or something. She’s back to patrolling the grounds for coyotes .
speaking of token, he’s giving me The LQQK that signifies he needs to save a tree and save it now.
thanks for hanging out with me tonight.
g’nite all
So many trees, so little time.
Sweet dreams, Suzanne. and Token.
Is there anywhere close where you could pay to use a hot tub? I bet all of your muscles would enjoy a soak in hot moving water. Grandma and grandpa..cute way to describe his sleep overs.
May she patrol for many more years!
Sweet dreams, Suz…!
Goodnight…take care…
Hey, CTuttle. I was scanning the lln thread very late last night and you were cooking up a feast. With kahlua pig and a squid dish. It sounds so good!
Thank you. She almost broke my heart when she was in so much pain. This is the first time I’ve had a giant breed dog pull out of it, rebuild muscle and get back to their job. Must be the wirehair terrier Mom gene!
I just made a sample batch of lomi salmon and it went *poof* just as fast as I made it…! ;-)
*heh* I didn’t realize I was so late coming back…! Aloha Oe…! *g*
