Julia Child Remixed — Keep On Cooking, from PBS Digital Studios.
What’s on your mind?
g’evening peeps — what’s cooking?
Hi Suz! I’m cooking chicken soup at the moment, so I’m all about Julia.
The repukes are such liars! I’m kind of all about ‘whatever’….I can only do what I can do. Whatever transpires, transpires.
I’ll still have some lovely chicken soup.
hi rond — how’s tampa tonight?
hey dearie — yum! its starting to feel like fall and i’m looking forward to all those hearty stews and soups the cooler temps bring. how’s the ‘nard tonight?
Not too bad. I’m finally going to head down to the convention tomorrow.
Came across this video called Legitimate Rape
You really should take a look at it….
Spread it around.
Lovely in the nard. I picked up the twins this morning and called my dad to see if he’d like to go to lunch. The boys and I took their ‘granddad’ to a beach side restaurant where they regaled him with tales about how much they enjoyed their trip to the La Brea Tarpits that their dad took them to yesterday. My dad said to me, when the boys took a breath, “I think they are going to be orators!” Such fun. My dad is almost 95 and the little boys are just 4….. and real communication goes on. Joy.
tis the big day with rmoney doing the speechifying…. the crazy train is gonna be full
hey robert — how ya doing tonight?
*edited to correct name – head hanging in shame*
Evening all! That is too adorable, Dearie. At that age, the olders really have the succinct down.
Crazy time at the gathering of the Republicans. Makes me sad. I used to be a Republican back in the day. I still like Ike.
Who could say NO to these faces?
what a wonderful time you guys had! i saw julsie today — she’s saying ‘ut oh’ and its way too flipping cute. that’s her latest new word
hey bg — how’s nm tonight?
I can’t watch the ‘pukes. I almost threw my chair through the TV last night. Tonight I watched the Giants beat the Astros.
Between pinwheel storms and first-week duties, I haven’t been able to make it. For reasons I can’t quite articulate, it seems important to see it in person.
hey that guy – how ya doing tonight? that is just too much orange cuteness there dood
i haven’t watched any of it either that guy — i watched househunters on the teevee machine instead
The babies get succinct too! Uh oh, two syllables for the ages.
i think tomorrow is ‘the day’ to go — each day of their convention has gotten crazier — i heard that they are not even trying to hide the crazy and lying anymore.
Drinking strawberry milk and wishing I’d skipped that Ryan speech. That guy’s so oily, BP should stick a forkin derrick up his ass. Thar’s gotta be a gusher in thar….
How I want to adopt ALL those KITNZ! And I can’t adopt any. :-(
I haz a sad.
NM is still hot and dry, for the most part. I went to the CU today to find out about getting a lower rate on my mortgage. I have to talk to my tax guy now about getting my 2011 taxes finished. . .slowly getting some things done.
her fav word is still one of her first — dod-ger (one of their two dogs) with a heavy emphasis on the second syllable. she’s doing the ut-oh with the same emphasis.
The Giants piss me off, too, but they still win more than they lose. A week ago, I thought Obama was doomed, but after this week, I bet Obama gets the bump.
i’m glad i missed it. plan on missing all the crazy tomorrow night too.
i try to root for the m’s since i’m up here but my heart belongs to the g-men.
We have at least 2 ktnz at the feral colony I feed. Not good, means there is a mama and at least 2 ktnz to trap and neuter. But those are some cuties, and it makes me want some of that.
progress is progress no matter the pace bg. ya can only do so much
I could do uh oh with ‘em all day. It really is a great phrase, and you can just see the wheels turning in their heads as it all starts to fit, communication. That is about my favorite time with the babies.
I am so sick to my stomach of those voices in the Republican party trying (apparently with incredible success) to convince us that those we admired as heroes all our lives: police, firemen, teachers, nurses; those who devote and risk their own lives to protect, heal, or teach for generations are really villians sucking this country dry, and those who are both rich and selfish are the true heroes. And those rank & file Republicans should be ashamed of themselves for buying in to such a selfish message that is as unAmerican as any I have ever heard….
she’s getting leggy too. i picked her up and she was sitting on my hip and she’s not a featherweight any more. she’s looking like a toddler and not a baby anymore — and talking up a storm. sure wish i knew what language she’s speaking – her mom isn’t understanding any of it either but tries to guess.
why the fuck did the dems invite dolan
typical wussy dems– reach out to somebody who’s gonna shit on you
dolan will get AT BEST a lukewarm reception and media will be equivalating it with that Puerto Rican woman almost being run off stage last nite
nothing good can come of inviting dolan
it really is horrible the amount of vilification and hate speak that is not considered out of the ordinary to them and the media that ‘covers’ them.
hey bfl — how’s the city beautiful tonight?
I guess with twins, they have it figured out between them. The rest of us just have to wait until they get their ESL going. LOL
gonna be a trip to find out what she’s saying because she talks a mile a minute and has really grasped the concept of a conversation. she understands a whole lot more words than she can say.
That’s awesome. When she gets it going, she’ll be teaching everyone.
If our fellow citizens want this duplicity, then there is little we can do beyond trying to speak truth to stupidity. We can vote, of course, but that is nothing, really. And then we can step back and see what we can do to avoid the deluge.
she’s gonna be a pistol for sure… she still is faster than i am and looks over her shoulder with a ‘lets race’ look and then laughs as she takes off down the hall
it’s ok; nothing new, really– heat, rain, crime
She knows she has G-ma whipped, and it’s hilarious, to her.
it was good to see that the wapoo was fact checking ryan’s speech (according to the twitter machine) and calling him on his lies
i heard it was pretty fucking blatant lying tonight
vs winter when its heat and crime with no rain?
she knows she’s faster than me — one of these days i’m gonna be able to call her on that triple dog dare of a look and laugh and catch her before she gets to the blocked off stairs
I watch my FB ‘friends’ pimp the crap….. they don’t really care about truth. Stunning, I think. I don’t get it. I think Knut had it right: emigrate. But I’ve got kids, so I’m here. If I were totally free and non-attached, I’d be looking for another place to be, for sure. USA….. crazy!
And what gets me is the doofus they brought in to play ‘small business guy’ — who benefitted from government input. And the various old mothers and fathers they trotted out who benefit from Medicare. And on and on….. govt. helping folks (your tax dollars and mine) but, you know, screw the damned government. It’s insane!~
some are more into the hate than anything — its scary sometimes – all that vitrol spewing out of them
i’m thinking those same thoughts since the start of that fucking convention… all that crazy is overwhelming and these fools think they should have the nuke launch codes
poor steph — no snow
The guy from NM? What a freak show. I don’t know how they think they can get away with it. It may come as a surprise to the Rs that people are not as ignorant and inattentive as the Rs believe they are.
i’ve honestly thought about it— i mean, i’m not going anywhere, right now but healtrh care “system” is a fucking disgrace
yeah, i have not watched one second but i heard the same thing– David Dayen was trying too keep up on twiter but seemed to have his hands full
One of my old friends, one of the few Rs in my circle, wrote on her FB today that she finally changed her voter reg to D after voting independent for all these years. These people always will have latent R tendencies, but the crazy finally got to her on women’s issues.
tis the upside to the r’s letting their crazy out in tampa – scaring other rs
ok, gotta hit the hay
Who would actually be proud of voting against equal pay for equal work? It makes no sense, and the young people have really go to be wondering what happened with these nuts.
old school crazy
Sleepy time for The Robert as well. Blame it on the strawberry milk….
Sorry, but the Rs are doing all crazy all the time with enthusiasm.
And I still like Ike.
And people can make all the fun of California that they want to. I’d still rather live here than in the hell-fire-and-damnation Midwest or the Nobody-Can-Be-Zanier-Than-Us South or Texas-Just-Because. Carry on.
Will Chin-ee show up Thursday night ???
Take your Hip Waders, buddy … there’s an awful load of crap being shovelled !
irrc, i heard jon stewart refer to the people’s republic of tampa (or similar) on his show tonight. i hope the crazy is finally starting to catch up to them and they realize the people’s republic of berkeley ain’t got nothing on them
petro! *shrudder* gonna be lotsa old man lawyers puckering up at the thought of cheney at that convention…
what’s shaking dood?
You know, Suz, that the whole west coast is kind of mellow, reasonable, rational, realistic. We all kind of let people live-and-let-live. I like that. A lot! While I’m living my life on the left coast I can’t remember a time I’ve ever had to say to some politico, “get the fuck out of my vagina.” You know? It just seems pretty easy out here on the Pacific. I like that.
We’ve had 3 cool nights, but starting tomorrow, it’s going to be fookin’ hot until Isaac brings Rain next week.
I’m not complaining, mind you … just that I have to get more BBQ supplies … *g*
yeah, me too. the left coast tends to be a lot mellower than the other coast and yet they call us the ‘wrong’ coast…. tis hard to think of living anywhere else and yet there is a part of me (that whole hope for the best and plan for the worst part) that keeping bringing up alternate locations to live
maples already changing down here. weather dood is saying there’s a return to the 90′s in our 7 day forecast and that it has been 40 days without rain — if we go the entire month of august with no rain (and there is none in the forecast) it will break a record going back 14 years
And here’s a funny: I’ve always felt kind of odd about saying that I live at the beach, but this past weekend I flew in from Denver and the flight was right over my house. Wow. I saw from above the streets of my housing area and thought, ‘wow, I really do live at the beach.” It was a hoot. And also a joy…..to see the magnificent Pacific and the wonderful beach and my sweet little housing area.
happy little clouds
when i moved to the netarts bay house, i kept using that google earth feature to look at the house from the pacific ocean side of the spit
is how i got it to sink in that it really was the forking ocean out there
And I was up in Portland this past weekend for a family wedding…. and it appears that St Helens is on the west of Portland. What a wonderful weekend == perfect weather. Oregon is wonderful….. enjoy!
oh snap — why didn’t you let me know you were in town. portland is 25 miles south of me – a straight shot down highway 30. i wudda bought you a cuppa
Hey Suz. Before it’s too late i hope your movin better. And you are good with your new surrounds.
hey homeroid — how’s homer tonight? pt lady was impressed with my walking a 5 block round trip walk 3 times since she saw me last. said i was between half way and 3/4′s of the way of where she wants me. turns out my right big toe doesn’t bend any more — she’s hoping that when all the swelling in the knee and foot are gone that reduces the pressure on the nerves. its not as swollen as it used to be but…
to clarify — the toe does bend – i just can’t make it bend when curling my toes
I wish I’d have …. but I feel certain that I’ll come back. It was a tight weekend and great. My first cousin cohort is 10…. and 7 of us managed to be there. Wedding in the hills and then reception at Waverly ….. and much fun. You know how it comes down to weddings and funerals. We managed to do a 90th birthday party for my dad that drew a crowd. We’re always looking for occasions that are joyful…..and I have to say that the ingathering at Portland was such. I really enjoyed Portland….and we must have been extraordinarily lucky to get fabulous weather.
when its good its very very good — after living at the coast i find i get more sunshine here and there are more of those ‘good’ days. i enjoy it and sure do like the people up here. so nice and folks just offer to help others. i helped a lady get her walker outta her van at pt last week — i figured since i had graduated from a walker to a cane i could stop and help her get it out and open for her. i guess i’m turning into an oregonian.
So much for not pushing it! You must be reeling with delight on doing laps around the block. Smiles here for you. The world is a pretty messed up place. It takes a bit of time before it get’s here. That time is where i dream.
*laughing* i walked down to the drive up coffee shack, with token on his leash, using my cane and got a latte as my reward. i use the latte as a distraction while walking back :) i’d be pushing it if i was doing it every day.
I tried to help this ..80 year old lady into my cab from a wheelchair a few weeks ago. She looked at me and said fucking leave me alone and got in by herself. I am but an idiot.
Isn’t it great! We’re all out here just doing our thing. I like that folks on the left coast are kindly.
Happy and colorful dreams, Suzanne. I’m headed off to dreamland myself.
having been in that blasted chair, i know that fierce streak of independence and ‘i can do it myselfness’ i developed drove my girls nuts
tis about time for me to head out too. thanks for all the conversations
Nite Suz :)
Seeing Julia C always makes my day.
Her funniest moment was a friendly argument with Jacques Pepin about the best way to crack an egg. She aged gracefully for decades and seemed in distress for only the last two years or so, which was troubling but brief.
