Mornin’, pups
FDR’s State of the Union address given on 11 Jan 1944, which contained a call for a Second Bill of Rights.
I’m still looking for the audio version.
Thanks, SD, that redrawing the electoral map worked out badly for the White People’s Party, the last time, as it almost turned the border into representational gov’t.
Good morning SouthernDragon and Ruth. Also, to all Diners yet to arrive.
Thank you for the post SouthernDragon. Coming to the Diner is a good start to my day, everyday.
Good morning all and thanks for the post and host SoDrag.
I decided yesterday that rinse pre-BS is actually full BS. All the time.
Oh, and morning joe is just plain awfull.
Oh, and Mrs. I-fucked-up-the-econoomy really, really, really needs to go away.
(back to lurking in the corner booth)
Does Cornell West, Travis Smiley and Ralph Nader realize they are proposing to cut the minimum wages of people living in the Bay Area. Quit with the minimum and talk about the living, gentlemen. It sounds better to those people earning 7-8 bucks an hour. After all, if you ask them they still would like to be counted among the undead. Though, you wouldn’t know that if you watched the conventions this year. As a janitor told me, ” the dirty work always gets done by the unseen. “
Goodest of mornings, everyone. (My son used to say that when he was in high school. He had a lot of funny phrases he used sometimes.)
Haven’t read up top yet, making some shrimp salad for my lunch since I have volunteer duty today.
A parade of jackasses!
Nice phonetic rendering. The RNC needs a rinse. Also recycle. They’re working on that now.
Ah, those classy Regressives.
Already got the defenses at the prior post, see it was an individual acting out a drunken episode, should be overlooked as indicative of the entire convention.
Nuts should be the operative term for the whole crowd, with apologies to the nuts.
Thanks to FDR: A Second Bill of Rights: (and thanks to SD too.)
The Rachel Corrie decision was a foregone conclusion, unfortunately. We know it was deliberate murder, and the court knows it was deliberate murder, but the court was not about to decide in the truth. As far as the likud party and its followers see the world, the truth is only what supports and strengthens their hold on all of the territory they claim, plus any parts of other countries they see as useful.
I saw “Rinse Penis” somewhere yesterday and chuckled.
One unanticipated thing I like about the links SD provides is that following them leads me to other things on the pages of those articles that I wouldn’t otherwise see. This is a good example, very moving:
Diana Krall tribute to Neil Armstrong: Fly me to the Moon

Good morning firedogs!
Thanks SD for the post and host.
Somewhere I also heard “Raunchy”, which is a reasonable pronumciation for “Reince” – almost.
Interesting about Arafat. Po-210 is very rare, not easy to isolate. You get less than a gram per ton of Po in Uranium ore, and what exists is made by atomic reaction.
Pretty much the only countries that would have any stock of it are the ones with nuclear weapons. Like Israel.
Boxturtle (We’ll see if any is detected above background in his corpse)
stopped buying “made in China” after cutting my mouth on a C&B work glass. Stopped buying C&B, too, come to think of it.
Re: Wilkerson.
The “failures” you attribute to Obama were anything but… he got what he wanted and we got screwed. Simply put, he’s a lying motherfucker… and a war criminal… and… and… and…

GM, diners ‘n Dragon. We had a meeting with our lawyer in Santa Fe yesterday, and I got home late. By the time I fed the kittehs and the feral colony (woops, the talk of kittens is twue. . . I saw two very adorable ones, and I suppose there are more, which means more trapping ahead), I missed Ann Rmoney’s barn-burner. I know I should keep up with the enemy, but I could not watch Big Crispy, and I turned the TV off.
Here’s hoping everyone has a great day. I hope we have a report from Rmoneyville later.
LOL! No comment. ;-D
Has the site been hacked?
Having difficulty posting for some reason.
Not here. I’m able to post. (Trial.)
Seems just fine to me. Try clearing your browser cache (or just restarting the browser).
Pretty quiet at the Diner this week. I think everyone’s off doing end-of-summer stuff. I’m not online as much the past couple of weeks.
My anti-virus was blocking FDL for awhile and warning me about some advertising. Seems to be OK now.
Morning pups,
Avoided watching any “coverage,” of the convention. Former WI gov Tommy Thompson supposedly throwing a yacht party this afternoon. Should be interesting to see who manages not to fall overboard.
Ah, the simple pleasures of the 1%. Yacht party.
Just call it your second home, and there’s a tax deduction for that

Good morning, pupses, and thank you, SD.
Ah, late good morning, everyone.
SD, I just wanted to take this opportunity of thanking you for the week-daily links you provide us, the space of the-is wonderful Diner you make available, to all of us, and the considerable time which you invest in those and many other things which benefit this community and humanity and all other life forms.
As youngest daughter in back at school and I take her there each morning, I’ve often not the time to say “hello!” … yet, I work my way through your links and try to read the comments, and further links which you encourage and inspire.
Thank you, Southern Dragon, you never give up and you always encourage the best in everyone.
Namaste

Morning OmAli,
Further radio listening has commenters speculating it is a Koch party.
Also reported yesterday, US Senator Ron Johnson (dumb) dining in a private portion of a restaurant with David Koch. Supposedly photos to emerge.
Speculation about Johnson explaining how they use prison labor at his father-in-law’s plastics factory and how the state covers the prisoner’s worker comp.
Link to Koch-Johnson meet up.
Hi, Nonqui. Did the reader manage to stifle his/her laughter?
Will the rubes understand or care about the sporkmaking irony?
This is why we can’t have legalized marijuana.
Hey, OmAli, nice to see you (if you come back). Just sitting here waiting to give someone a tour, and nobody’s coming by, so I’ve read all of the stuff up top and Glennzilla and Pierce and a couple other things I don’t always have time to read at home.
Hi msmolly, just kind of in and out between errands. Sounds like a quiet day, are you at the Performance Center?
Getting ready to go to JoAnn to look for some batting or bolster inserts.
You have made lots of baby’s and children’s items, and I wonder if you have ever seen something like what I’m going to try. It was a gift for John when he was a baby, basically two bolster-like fabric tubes filled with batting. They could be slipped into sleeves sewn into each end of a piece of fabric. When it was laid on a bed or couch it would keep the baby from rolling off the edge during changing or napping. It was really convenient to take with us if we were going for a short visit somewhere or just to put on the couch while reading.
I thought I might use bath sheets since they are already hemmed, and will just need to fold the short edges in far enough to accommodate the bolster, then stitch just a straight seam. Easily washable with bolsters removed.
Yes, at the Performing Arts Center, home and lunched now and about to ride the bike.
I have seen those either in use by parents or maybe in baby departments. I’ve never made one, though. A bath sheet is quite long, and if you hem the short ends the distance between the bolsters might be wider apart than the surface you’d want to use it on (for instance, the seat of a sofa). If you’d use it on a bed, that probably wouldn’t be a problem, though, and of course it would depend on how fat the bolster is (how much towel length it would take to go around it.
Finding the bolsters to go in it might be a bit of a challenge. JoAnn Fabrics is a good place to start since they have quite a selection of pillow forms and suchlike.
Email me if you want more help.
Thanks, and I think you are right about the bath sheet, a towel will be more than long enough. Never made it to JoAnn today, but thanks for the offer of help, I’ll definitely email if I have a question.
Hope you had a great ride.
